Metazoo is actually selling extremely well right now, even though it's selling for way below msrp. Tons of people are trying to complete their collections and some are speculating, as if the company is coming back 😂 But if you want to recoup losses now's the time I guess

I bought a ton of Metazoo to both collect and potentially play. Surprisingly enough it was this channel that inspired me to do this. I will forever remember this as the single worst investment I have ever made. The hate in my heart for this game knows no bounds.

I would call to ask about the game and everytime I spoke to them they would act like I was asking them to start hosting lemon parties in the middle of their store. It was horrible.
The art direction and graphic design was piss poor. They barely used a dynamic grid for the layout, the typography choice was amateur, and they tried to pass off crayola color pencils as high art... It just ended up being another big scam like the APE NFTs.

The "player base" consisted of almost only sellers selling to eachother and collectors. This game had a VERY VERY tiny player base actually interested in the game itself. That isn't a very sustainable market for a bran new card games longevity.

You can't really have a card game hold much value if no one plays it. In short. A card game that no one plays or can get ahold of to play ends up as a dead card game. maybe it was just the schools in my area: but even tho we played with the cards, FEW kids were able to get a lot of packs, and thus nobody had the correct energy etc. ...so it was playing for 'fun' of it, not legal decks etc. mix of supply limits, allowances' use (for other stuff, like video games, bikes etc), and (at least around here, lack of game stores). Pokemon at time (we're talking Base, Fossil, Jungle, Team Rocket era) was a TCG...you HAD TO trade to get cards: there was no 'online' and no real LGS in the area...Collecting was 2ndary to playing.

Not really in this type of product because the company can just print more if a speculator buys it all. Then their investment is worth less because the company printed more than ever. So it fixes itself usually, nothing to get excited about.
How does the Tax loss work? Do you have to throw away the inventory of cards? Do you keep them in storage forever? do you try to sell them for less? What happens to those cards?
Depreciating assets do not need to be surrendered. The reduced value can be leveraged against taxables and even the 25% tax on capital gains on other assets before you need to reinvest them within the calendar year.. You can actually legally claim further losses on the same product year after year if you don't liquidate and value continues to depreciate.

Not really in this type of product because the company can just print more if a speculator buys it all. Then their investment is worth less because the company printed more than ever. So it fixes itself usually, nothing to get excited about.

How does the Tax loss work? Do you have to throw away the inventory of cards? Do you keep them in storage forever? do you try to sell them for less? What happens to those cards?
He has them "fall off a truck" then his accountant takes care of the rest.

Depreciating assets do not need to be surrendered. The reduced value can be leveraged against taxables and even the 25% tax on capital gains on other assets before you need to reinvest them within the calendar year.. You can actually legally claim further losses on the same product year after year if you don't liquidate and value continues to depreciate.

I want some of that MetaZoo, but not for the prices they’re going for. Nobody plays it around my area. I just collect. I love cards and their artwork. Anyone that has any for sale let me know, anything unopened. I will buy singles but it has to be a great price and in very good shape, NM at minimum.
