He was a little over zealous, but the go to method for opening these is to cut into the rules book. It doesn’t matter though because this is was a resealed pack 😂

A bit sketchy since the dude didn't do the pull tab first, but there could have been tampering on the bottom of the outer seal

Paymoneywubby has opened several tampered ABU decks, got burned on the first but after that has always had a vendor that guarrentees money back, aslong as it's all on continous video with no cuts ect. If they had a proper dealer they should have taken it straight back the second they saw that hair-dryer reseal. It also helps if you do these things on stream with several people in chat that have opened tons of these before and are actual scholars on ABU card mapping ect. It not only helps with knowing wether something is real but also wether you won the 50/50 coinflip on the island rare slot vs timetwister slot ;P

I just can never trust buying those old sealed boxes especially boosters , after I saw a friend who had his own card shop open boosters take out the rares that were good and replaced with rares that were doodoo. He did this with a razor and resealed with a heat gun. This was way back during fallen empires so I’m not sure if the booster packs are still made of the same material , he said it was time consuming but could be done were you could see no tampering.
Provenance tracing back to 2009 - aka no provenance at all. Its not like searching and repacking started in 2010, right? As a rule of thumb, no Beta product with more than two owners (The OG buyer and you) since 1993 is unsearched.

After all the beta starters and unlimited starters I opened in 94-97 I can say this had to be resealed and my guess is the person who done it had a copy or pic of common,uncommon sheets along with a decent collection and swapped out cards...I would say both rares were a swap for sure but that Inner seal was nowhere close to any factory seal I've cut open on beta or unlimited starters
a box of packs had 36 rares - a box of starters 20 rares ... both of the boxes were about the same price back in the day. So players always bought the pack box. Thats why so may starter boxes sat.
the only thing that keeps it special to me is, like the guy said in the video, they may be breaking a heap now but theres only a few hundred of some of these items left in the world so we really could be seeing history every single time.

The smartest scammers are going to keep the card order in mind and leave a couple of good to decent cards behind in order to not make it too obvious, especially if they're trying to keep their reputation pristine. They'll earn a bit less and take more time doing so but avoid far more suspicion in the long run. Not 100% sure if this deck was a re-seal or not but from the sound of it, the deck was bought from a seemingly legitimate source.
A graded Complete set in That condition? I think the only obstacle financially speaking is that he isn't choosing a main stream grading service. But taco man probably gave him a killer deal
Can someone tell me how these people buy 30k sealed products just to open them? is it that they got it for 30% of the value or they had these for years because I don t get why you would waste 30k now when you can get probably double this in 10 years. How can they afford this basically on a regular basis?
The value placed on these sealed products almost feels like a random number pulled out of thin air, sure one collector can sell another collector a product for a high value to try and get the average joe to pay that amount but that doesn’t mean it’s actually worth that amount. It’s completely understandable, collectors want to hype the value to make their money, business is business.
the "value" of it is due to the rarity of the sealed product, not whats inside it. opening it is instant loss since the RTP is easily less than 10% I say "value" cause its not real, it dies out with the old people dying out and taking the nostalgia with them

I don't know the provenance on this deck, but if it's solid, I don't expect anybody in 2009 or prior would know what order to put the cards in. On top of that, the centering indicates that the cards came from the same sheet. Contrary to what they said in the video, the rares were on the correct side of the rulebook. I just double checked several other UA-cam opening videos, and Beta rares are on the uncommon side of the rulebook, but Alpha rares or commons in the rare slot appear on the common side of the rulebook. I agree with them that the inner seal looks weird. IF this was resealed (big IF), they just peeked at the cards and put them all back without swapping or moving anything. The contents of the deck are what the factory put there, the only question is whether someone along the way peeked at them.

The Ebon Dragon is printed on paper adhered to one of the filler cards R&D regularly used for playtesting, is intended to resemble the finished product, was created for official company use before the set was released, comes directly from the set designer himself, and is autographed by them. You have a Black Lotus proxy, printed directly on a World Championship blank that was widely available to the public almost a decade after the last set with a Lotus, it doesn't look like any real Lotus, has the wrong font, was apparently printed by a player in Italy, not for official WotC use, not directly connected to any WotC employee, and not autographed by its creator. Additionally, the MIC marks show that they're not created on the same printer.

PSA 9 beta lotus would be 60k but your point stands. Unopened vintage packs seem overpriced.

You have a Black Lotus proxy, printed directly on a World Championship blank that was widely available to the public almost a decade after the last set with a Lotus, it doesn't look like any real Lotus, has the wrong font, was apparently printed by a player in Italy, not for official WotC use, not directly connected to any WotC employee, and not autographed by its creator.
Additionally, the MIC marks show that they're not created on the same printer.
