  • The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan on August 15, 2021. That was twenty years after the U.S invaded the country post 9/11 and ended their first 1996-2001 regime. After America's strategic defeat and chaotic withdrawal in 2021, the Taliban recaptured the country.
StratNewsGlobal replugs this series of exclusive interviews in Kabul in August 2022 by Amitabh P. Revi and Rohit Pandita. First, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban's Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan(IEA). On specific security assurances given by the very top of the IEA government, Muttaqi says, "there has not been a single security incident that has been directed towards them(India's diplomats). As a responsible government, we deem it our obligation to provide security to all diplomatic missions and diplomats who come to Kabul." He also has a message in Urdu.
Next, a rare, comprehensive, in-person interview in Kabul of Zabihullah Mujahid, Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan(IEA). Zabihullah Mujahid talks about the Taliban seizing power, security guarantees given to the Indian government, relations with Pakistan, independence from anyone's control, the freezing of 'Da Afghanistan Bank's' $ 9.5 billion, the June 18, 2022 attack on a Kabul gurudwara, who is behind attempts to sabotage India-Afghan relations, opportunities in the mining sector, China, BRI and CPEC, and pledges against allowing terrorist groups sanctuary in Afghanistan.
We also spoke to Khpolwak Sapai, the Director of TOLOnews, Afghanistan's first 24-hours news, current affairs, business, regional & world news television network. Mr Sapai, the man who almost single-handedly prevented TOLOnews from shutting down after the Taliban takeover on August 15, 2021, "despite losing almost ninety per cent of journalistic, editorial, production and administrative staff" recounts the surreal surrender of power and how he and the TOLO team hired almost-impossible-to-find talent and trained them, what the last year has been like for a once vibrant, thriving free press, how the media played a crucial role for an information-starved public during and after the takeover, handling some threats and many restrictions including on women journalists, the woman journalist Beheshta Arghand, who made viral headlines across the globe for first interviewing the Taliban just after they took control of Afghanistan and how she and many hundreds of thousands of people fled the country. Sapai also subsequently left the country.
And last but not the least, Zahrah Nabi, an Afghan journalist talks to us about how women, and especially media persons have been completely shut out from what they freely practiced before the Taliban returned to power. She tells us about the threats, the danger and how she continues to fight for her rights. Zahrah has not left Afghanistan. She passionately explains to us how Afghanistan is her country and she can't leave no matter what the danger she faces.

Really a very good and important interview in order to clarify a lot of issues between Afghanistan and India. In deed this expresses that Indian can resumes their developments and flights into Afghanistan back no security for Indians , and Indian diplomats.

Need to change the translator. Mis-interpreted some phrases. What Mutaqi said was much stronger in terms of independence and no influence of other countries on the Islamic emirate than what was said by the interpreter.
