Since they rule Afghanistan and Afghanistan's only real potential relevant ally in a major crisis is India, it was kind of inevitable. Afghanistan's only hook to get great power support is using India's insanely pro-unity culture to try and get help in exchange for hopes of unity or more political/trade unity with India since it considers Afghanistan part of greater India. And the Taliban really could do with at least diplomatic support against diplomatic hostility. That is why the Taliban recently defended some Sikhs, partially to stay in India's good books.

Back in the 90's the situation was mostly the same. After the Russians left, the Taliban were the strongest faction, but there were districts and groups that opposed them. This is about as full circle as you can get.
no, there is no major group opposing them currently like how it was in the 90's. it's only small pockets here or there currently and mainly hit and run tactics rather than taking ground and keeping it from the taliban.

@Richard Schiffman As someone that has filmed in Afghanistan I disagree with you. The Taliban are a monstrosity that is practicing Pashtun supremacy. Feel free to watch my Kabul episode on my channel and debate me there.
They have many faults and they are quick to spill muslim blood and that is among the most terrible deeds but in other matters, - and Im not minimising their misdeeds. They are criminals - but holistically speaking if we ignore their quickness to attack other muslims then their Islam is closer to that of the beloved Rasul Allah PBUH than the Taliban, and I will mention some of the issues of law and creed that make me say this. 1.) Offensive war. Allah said: “Fight those who fight you”(2/190) Allah said: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah…(9/29) The Taliban appear to have abandoned this command which is repeated and performed so many times in the Qur’an and by our Rasul Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم . But they, the ones who are criticised as khawarij never abandoned this Obligation and Sunnah. They waged war against the kfr by the tongue and the sword and showed no sign of stopping until they were finally defeated. For this I pray Allah rewards them, but of course this doesn’t absolve them of the unjust slaughter they committed either. 2.) The attributes of Allah. Nowadays this is considered a “minor, nuanced issue of creed” but In reality if yiu have creedal differences with other muslims then its possible to say you both are following different religions. To have different ideas about Allah is the same as worshipping different gods and what the taliban have done jn this regard is probably enough to make them all apostates. They denied the existence of Allah’s “Face, Hands, shin and feet” saying that the mention of these is all metaphorical. But they, the ones we all despised said they affirm their faith in Allah and believe in his face, hands and shin and Feet as his attributes without interpreting them in human terms and this is the correct view because 1.) Allah said the Qur’an is clear. How can numerous mentions of Allah’s attributes all be metaphors with no indication given by Allah? The fact this an ongoing dispute for a thousand years is proof enough that there is no way to prove these are metaphors. 2.) Qur’an and the prophet were received by many pagan idols worshippers. The meccan Idol worshippers would have spent their whole lives anthropomorphising their own gods into idol statues, and then Islam arrives and mentions the “Foot, hand and Face” of Allah without clarifying its meaning and none of them or the companions of the prophet were ever reported to have asked about their meaning. Think about that for a minute and let that sink in.

They’ve been in a similar position that these ISIS fighters are currently in, they understand how they think and operate. They’ll likely be extremely efficient at fighting ISIS, especially when they don’t have to even consider human right
ISIS Khorasan is a group composed of people following two particular sects. The Salafis and the Mamatis (also a sect in Pashtun region) while 99 percent of the Afghan population is Deobandi (hanafis). There's no way ISIS Khorasan can flourish in this region. In nangarhar when they controlled several towns in their early days in 2015; they imposed their own jurisprudence over a largely Hanafi population. It became clear that this group won't find a place. They're mostly driven by secterian hatred for the Hanafis; after their group was routed by Taliban; the small decentralized cells became operational. Some of them are in league with Pakistan, others with NRF. Pakistan is using them to counter Taliban support for the TTP. But these cells are weak; that's why they only target the civilians; especially the Hazaras. If taliban comes up with good intelligensia; get some sort of cyber tech then their brave commandos can do wonders and it would be the end of these cells. On the end note: All ISIS Khorasan members are Salafis but not All Salafis are ISIS-K.
I don’t know where you getting this info but Afghans follow Salafi and maybe Talibans follow Deobandi coz most of them came from Pakistani madrasas and You will find deobandi in Pakistan and India not Afghanistan.
Daesh targets civilians in Mosques (including both Sunni and Shia) because Daesh are non-Muslims working for the CIA trying to disrupt Afghanistan's peace. Daesh is the armed wing of the U.S. military-industrial complex and are attempting to sabotage Afghanistan's recovery (alongside America's economic sanctions against Afghanistan). The U.S. had coveted Afghanistan's resources for itself. The origin of Daesh is in Iraq, as AQI, which was founded by a well-known criminal and murderer, Al-Zarqawi, who instigated a civil war on behalf of the U.S. The U.S. then transplanted part of this operation to Afghanistan during the U.S. military occupation there.

LOL that's a ridiculously ignorant and historically inaccurate statement invented by Afghan Chauvinists and later popularised by folks who were fascinated by Afghan culture but have no clue about what they're talking. First of all Afghanistan was a nowhere situated in the mountain ranges conveniently lying in between 3 cradles of civilizations, The Persians, The Chinese and The Indians, the only thing of any major historical value it had was that a large chunk of it was the infamous Silk Route where in it enabled merchants of different civilizations access the markets of other civilizations. The ethnic Afghan Population has heavily branched off from the Iranic groups originating in Persia 5000 to 7000 years ago or so, they're technically Persians and they know and acknowledge that, infact in rural Afghanistan they call their language 'Farsi' or Persian in English. The borders that marked what encompasses modern day Afghanistan were nearly laid down by Ahmed Shah Abdali in 17the Century the chief turned King of the Durrani tribe of Pashtuns who was himself a Vassal to the Persian Empire and a General in Persian Court, he's the defacto founder of modern day Afghanistan, before him it was just the outermost extent of either Persian Empire or Turkic Mughal Empire based in Delhi in India. This region has been conquered by the Persians under Achmednid Empire, then by the Seleucid Greeks under Alexander the Great, then by the Indians under then Mauryan Empire, then successively by the Scythians, Hephthalites, Kushanas, The Arabs under the Abbasid Caliphate, the Mongols, the Uzbek Turks under Babur, the British and finally the Americans. This country has been invaded, conquered and captured so many times that those population groups who invaded it actually settled there and intermixed with local populations, except for the last two European forces who out of their courtesy born off their classical liberal values stranded Afghanistan as soon as they invaded it, because it's not a resourceful place, it's a nowhere. It's useless waste of money to keep it occupied. Not because it can't be conquered.

@Richard Schiffman As someone that has filmed in Afghanistan I disagree with you. The Taliban are a monstrosity that is practicing Pashtun supremacy. Feel free to watch my Kabul episode on my channel and debate me there.
you can make up whatever you want by saying extreme
They have many faults and they are quick to spill muslim blood and that is among the most terrible deeds but in other matters, - and Im not minimising their misdeeds. They are criminals - but holistically speaking if we ignore their quickness to attack other muslims then their Islam is closer to that of the beloved Rasul Allah PBUH than the Taliban, and I will mention some of the issues of law and creed that make me say this.
1.) Offensive war.
Allah said: “Fight those who fight you”(2/190)
Allah said: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah…(9/29)
The Taliban appear to have abandoned this command which is repeated and performed so many times in the Qur’an and by our Rasul Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم .
They denied the existence of Allah’s
“Face, Hands, shin and feet” saying that the mention of these is all metaphorical. But they, the ones we all despised said they affirm their faith in Allah and believe in his face, hands and shin and Feet as his attributes without interpreting them in human terms and this is the correct view because
1.) Allah said the Qur’an is clear.

ISIS /Daesh are followers of the U.S. CIA .

Kiddies in here forgot that Taliban used to be a government, that is until your fav murica and soviet decided that they don't like em anymore.
So we are going to forget the Taliban decides to harber al qaeda and Osama? I have no doubt the US just used this as a pretext to invade Afghanistan. But come on. The Taliban practically offered the justification on a silver platter. The U.S was wrong for invading Afghanistan. The Taliban were absolutely idiotic in their decision to stand with al Qaeda.
True.
If someday there's another civil war in America, what if we make comments like: "the irony. terrorists fighting terrorists."
We propped them up as freedom fighters to get rid of the Soviets and then when we went in we called them terrorists

Notice how the order from the Emir he showed was from TikTok. Such a culture clash.
I'm actually impressed with the sheer resilience of the taliban... lol there's a reason Afghanistan has never been conquered. They have been at constant war since forever

This is why US gave them power over Afghanistan. A. Respect and obey international (US)law B. Keep between borders drawn by the west C. Fight the enemy of US.
D. We started the same way, and they earned our respect. E. With, all things taken into account - they are doing a MUCH better job of building a Afghanistan Nation-State then we ever did. Which was our goal. They are keeping Afghanistan for it's people. Not for America, Russia, China, Pakistan, or Iran. Another goal we Americans have. F. @@supernautacus Our goal wasn't to build a nation state it was to kill Osama, kill Al-Queda cells, disrupt Taliban control, and maintain a presence to continue fighting the war on terror. Sometime during the Obama administration we lost track of what we were suppose to be doing there and everyone forgot. It became a political slogan to "End the war." It was never to be a nation building mission, it was always to have a solid forward operating base to fight terror cells in the region. Politics won, and human suffering will increase because of it.
