I'm not crying, you're crying! :')
In case it's not obvious I've kinda given myself tunnel vision with this character that I, fully honest, haven't thought of in years until I thought of the movie the other day
Dw, I'll be out of this creative spunk by the end of the week.. I hope o_o
And yes I realize this script sounds better for what it was originally written for but being 'beautiful' is kinda what peacocks do, am I right? :/ - Фільми й анімація
I've always been under the take that while Shens parents loved him. They weren't around for him that much making Shen believe they didn't love him while making him feel the need to prove himself to them by learning Kung Fu and innovating upon their creation. This is also probably why Soothsayer and Shen have the relationship they now have.
Agreed, from what I know their not technically royal but more likely nobles, considering Shen has the title of Lord and not Prince or King.
And with this position most of their time was likely spent on their 'work' while lil Shen was left to his own devices (not to say his time wasn't occupied as well with studies etc)
This little animation is honestly more of a vent, like I need to get my emotions out there oKay?! TvT
But I do like to think they had little moments like this, just too few and far between until it was too late 😢
Like the Soothsayer said, of course they loved him, of course they cared about him. And like you said, over time and her being the only one of his 'family' still alive it's no wonder Shen and the Soothsayer has the relationship featured in the film.

1000% agreed, only issue is getting Gary Oldman to voice him again TcT
It still amazes me to this day like, this man has done so many different voices during his career and still he manages to make Shen sound perfectly natural, I'm shooketh x_x
He might accept doing Shen's voice again, the problem is that they will never make a short film about him, which is a shame!
@@TheUnusualShenFan That's true, I haven't seen much of the 'behind the scenes' clips but he seemed to like voicing Shen so maybe? *fingers crossed*
And yeah it's weird because like, he still has so much potential! And I know Dreamworks has been in a bit of a pickle these past years but still, really feels like someone in the higher-ups are literally pushing all the good ideas to the back of the bin or something -_-

Not saying that they'd have to include that but I mean.. who doesn't like seeing baby pictures of big scary villans? 😅
But yeah honestly 'Secrets of the Five' is, in my opinion, some of the best stories to come out of the kfp universe
I especially like Vipers and Tigresses backstories, I dunno, I have a thing for sad but ultimately powerful tales 🥲
That's why Shen believed his self that he's not loved 😢
Best villain ever. Imagine a Lord Shen backstory prequel showing his growing madness and ending with him leaving for the panda massacre. Would not be a kids film lol.
I'd love that honestly, the serious parts of the movie are the best in my opinion

@@the_sleepless_dream Yea a long gone fan called Leo Mitchell did a documentary on Shen which at the time she had access to the art of KFP 2 Apple app which had content the book version lacked.

The KFP2 movie is so old but people still make such qualitive content?😭 I love Shen sm, best villain ever. His story was touching to me because I could see something untold. His relationship with parents is so deep but not shown by the film creators🥲.

I completely agree, clearly we're not being shown everything but I think that's what makes it interesting. This way we can imagine how it all played out for ourselves, how his parents were towards him and his history with the Soothsayer etc 🤔
