    Really enjoyed that vlog. I own a Classic 350 in Halcyon green. I have removed the rear seat and fitted the touring front seat and a rear carrier which replaces the rear seat cushion. A couple of pannier frames and pannier bags complete the look and I have really enjoyed using the bike for all sorts of trips. Have ridden from my home in Cornwall and toured Wales a couple of times with full camping gear. I try to avoid motorways unless I really need to use them (like to skirt around Bristol on the trip to Wales). Love the bike - it's great for taking the road less travelled, especially down around the Cornish lanes. The Triumph 400's look interesting and looking forward to your review.

    Loved your Tuesday VLOG on the RE Classic 350. The weather was great so I took my Triumph Speed Twin 1200 for a spin around Salisbury Plain stopping at Chopper's Cafe at Burbage on the A338 for a cuppa. The sound from your new mic was great, that 350cc motor sounds good.
    A UA-cam channel that I like: I Do Cars, he takes broken engines apart to find out what caused them to fail. His latest video is a broken Ford F-150 3.5L, the stuck oil rings show exactly why you need to change engine oil regularly and ideally use good oil; but that didn't break the crankshaft!

    Gutted to hear about the shoulder, Andy. Sending best wishes for that; I’m sure they’ll get to the bottom of it in no time - hang in there. That Enfield looks absolutely delightful esp without that back seat! Thanks for the vlog - loved it! As for certain words, I’m going to be honest here, you went through a phase of saying ‘binnacle’, when discussing Speedo and rev counter clocks on some of the bikes you reviewed. Rather than it putting me off I found it rather endearing and, coupled with words like Blighty, Environs and various other idiosyncrasies, is for me a great feature of the channel. You have a love for language, the countryside, vlogging, WW2 aircraft and, above all, bikes!! I’m going nowhere!

    Best looking classic motorcycle in the world with that seat off.
    This bike with a twim 500cc enjine with 54 bhp would be perfect.
    It's not the 1950s 60s , and we aren't in India, so 20bhp isn't enough power for European roads.
    Im sure lots of Classic riders would love to ride from London to Scotland on a more powerful Royal Enfield Classic.
    It is imo the most beautiful classic motorcycle made today 😍

    I keep records of days when it is both rain-free and warm enough (3c+) to ride a bike. Since December the 23rd I have had 5 days when I have been able to get out, and 3 of those only for part of the day. I cannot recall such a period of prolonged wet weather. Throw in the fact that last July & August suffered almost daily rain and it's no wonder us Brits all get hacked off.....

    There's certainly been plenty of decent weather to get out, but I've been busy, and of course, when I do get my bike out to give it the once over, I end up dropping it and smashing a mirror! 😭 Aside from that there's an o-ring that needs replacing, which is already in hand! I think I must have missed a video on that, I’ll go back and look. I’m sorry your shoulder issue is ongoing. Hope you can get it sorted. Super interested in your thoughts on the new Triumph 400’s. The sound on the new microphone is excellent for your voice, not getting much bike sound though. That’s such a hard balance to achieve. I love when you share your UA-cam favorites. I learned about Freddie Dobbs from you. I enjoy Blancolirio’s UA-cam channel who does aviation crash breakdowns. I’ve always wanted to ask you about the Ford Explorer picture on the door of your garage. I had one of those… same year as the one in your picture. Mine was Navy blue and was a 5 speed manual. Hi Andy. For your viewers learning about your new camera and sound setup I have a few bits of advice here. First of all, lower your gain in the mic setting on the Osmo cam until you can no longer see the the RED peaking on the audio level highlighted on the rear screen of the camera. Every voice is of a different level, mine is -11db on the Osmo Action 4 and that peaks in orange. It is much easier to record lower levels (non distorted) and simply raise the gain in edit as you will retain all of the information. The other key thing your viewers need to try here is to point the microphone DOWNWARDS within the helmet as this will pick up the induction sound. The DJI Mic I recommended to you is OMNI directional which will give you a good balance of surround sound whilst your voice is the main subject. I also set my mic within the helmet to the side of my mouth and not in full force frontal which is what it sounds like here. There is no standard setting with this phenomenon as everybody's voice has a different level, we all wear different helmets, and we can only afford different levels of equipment. We all still have to find that sweet spot but the technology out there today is superb and makes it so much easier for us. Hope the shoulder recovers soon Andy, Sláinte

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  3 місяці тому +1

      Cheers Dave for the recommendations. Funnily enough, I do have the mic set to the side of my mouth in this video. I guess I just speak loudly! I have mine set at minus 9B, but perhaps I need to try -11 and tweak in the edit as you suggest. Anyway, thanks for the advice, hints and tips and suggestions I’ll keep working on it!

      @ianhughesroyalenfield 3 місяці тому

      Good advice Dave. I am running at -5 at the moment, without the dead cat, and get just a little clipping when large vehicles pass by in the opposite direction. I will try pointing downwards, fitting a dead cat, and reducing the volume to -8 or -9, as I am quite softly spoken. Cheers

    Thanks for your continued work producing videos despite your shoulder issue. I hope it will turn out well in the end.
    Since we share another interest, flying, a channel that might be of interest is Blancolirio, a 777 pilot producing fact based aviation videos. For example, during the recent Boeing debacle his videos cleared a lot of details that regular media had major difficulties reporting correctly.

    Get to a certain vintage and we begin to experience “inflammaging” - the first indicators being the up/down grunt and waking up sore after going to bed fine. Use it or lose it they say, but even that cliché needs a bit of sauce. Much depends on how it’s used and where it’s lost, eh? In my 70’s now and riding provides momentum, connection and a reason to lift a leg. It’s all a matter of balance and, where better to find that than on a bike . . .

    Hi, hope you will be feeling better soon. Love your videos especially about the classic 350, because of your first review on the bike and some in depth research I purchased a chrome bronze and enjoying every moment, especially now it’s run in and with a k&N filter and decat exhaust. I look forward to your next blog. All the best Mike from Surrey.

      You mentioned a false neutral. I’m noticing the same, I thought it was me due to the fact I ride a Triumph T120 Ace into central London everyday and using the clutch leaver every 30 seconds I got lazy with the leaver. Now doing the same journey on the Enfield I have release if I pull the leaver fully in it does not happen. Just a thought. Be interested in your opinion. Mike from Surrey

    Sorry to hear that your shoulder surgery has not been sucessful. Hope that you manage to get it sorted. Glad to see you out and about on such a nice day. I rode from Newcastle to Holy Island yesterday and got a good soaking for my trouble so it was lashing down up north. The Enfield engine has a lovely little burble to it and taking the pillion seat off has dramatically improved the looks of the bike. It would be interesting to see what an unrestricted one would do. I bet you are glad that the white van turned off as overtaking it might have proved a little difficult. Maybe the subject of a future what's it like to video.

    Great vlog Andy,popped out for 3 hours this afternoon exploring Essex via Calimoto,and have to say you definitely don’t need more than the classic 350,looked on my sizzapp and my top speed was only 63.4 mph.

    Tuesday was a rare break in the weather recently on the south coast too so took advantage of a ride myself. The 350 looks great without the pillion seat although it didn’t bother me with it either. I like watching UA-cam Motorcycle and cycle trips showing me places in uk or overseas rather than the actual bike. An armchair adventure if you like. Marc Travels and Itchy Boots of course plus Wiltshire Man. Vlogs are great while your shoulder is is problematic or although I’m not a big fan of the GS, updates on your other bikes is always appreciated . Keep the wordage coming Andy and if you need a shoulder to lean on you know where we are.

    Been enjoying Full tank motorcycle podcast good informative banter between the guys. Sorry to hear about the shoulder. I know my father is going through it 😢. Keep the faith ! Mic sounds good. Always nice to ride along Andy. Would love to take the pillion off my classic but would incur the wrath of Mandy who enjoys coming along for the ride 😂😂

    So sorry to hear your shoulder surgery hasn't gone so well, hopfully they can sort out the problem after revisiting the problematic area. I think the environs of your vlogging trips round the country roads of Blighty are fantastic, and yes would like to see more. As soon as I saw the thumbnail of the Meteor without the rear seat I could see thats how it should look, I don't think I would even put a rack on it. It just looks and sounds great. Video and sound quality were great also, with the engine burbling away in the background.

    Last time I rode a 500 Enfield, I had white finger which went right up to my elbow 😮
    Just got a 20 year old BMW R1150rt for all year riding 🫣
    Could you include this in your classic rides ?

    Try rubbing tiger balm onto your shoulder daily, I recommend it to a dancer with bad knees and he said it worked a treat. I sympathise with you over shoulder pain. I'm in the same boat, probably due to rugby injury 36 years ago. In addition many years of playing squash at a high level has take its toll. At least we can still get out and about! After an hour I really need to stop. 🥴 Freddie Dobbs is a favourite of mine, does a good podcast too, along with Del Boys Garage.

    The new mic was spot on as is the Classic 350. As for the rear seat I have left mine on as with a pair of rock straps makes a great carrying mount for gym kit, bike lock etc. have to say though I splashed out on the touring seats which are much better finished than the standard seats. 😊

    Hi Andy, great little bonus video, and as you said the Enfield does look better without the rear seat, and for pottering around, it looks like a lovely bike. I am sorry to hear about your shoulder not working right, and as I have just been released from 4 days in hospita, I feel your pai, but we ned to keep positive. One last thing the sound seems to be all good and you can hear a little bit more bike in the background. Anyway, take care and ride safe

    I always enjoy these VLOGS, keep 'em coming - your comments about mental wellbeing and forgetting your troubles always strikes a chord. I have managed 662 miles so far this year, despite awful Northumberland weather. On the topic of other YT channels - try Stace on Wheels - in particular "7 reasons Why I Ride" - she nails it. She is also very competent, mechanically, which makes me feel inferior, my spannering skills being several degrees beneath your own. Hope the shoulder issues improve with time.

    Sorry to hear that the Op has made things worse for riding etc. I think the sound is very clear, you may feel the engine note is muted. Can't wait to hear your views on the Triumph 400, so far the general impression has been very positive. A comparison (probably not fair) between the RE 350 and the Triumph 400 will be interesting. I enjoy your VLOG's, so keep them coming and fingers crossed that the shoulder improves......
