  • My Royal Enfield Classic 350 is back to stock and today I want to test if the fuel consumption is changing compared to the setting with the DNA Air filter and the Fuel X installed. On my test ride I nearly crashed my bike, because I had a sudden and unpredictable tire failure with my new alloy rims and the Heidenau tires.
    Ride safe!

You are lucky that you did not crash your bike. Let your dealer check the rims and tires ;-)

The most important thing to carry in case of a puncture, is a flask of tea or coffee.

So glad, you did not crash. Scary. I had blurry mirrors when at higher speeds on my Classic. I replaced with the touring mirrors, which are crystal clear at all speeds. Worth the cost, to see what's behind you properly. Best regards Pete.

The K60 / K60 Scout tires are stiffer. This may have saved you (they are reported to be good at this). They do need a bit more air pressure than „normal” tires (I checked this with the manufacturer). I have spoked wheels on my Classic 350, so there is a tube inside. According to Heidenau (I sent them the papers an owner’s manual of the bike), they need at least additional +0,2 bar to the manufacturer’s recommendation. As they K60 is very stiff, you may have inflate more right after mounting to have the tire seat properly on the rim, then air down to the desired pressure.

I will try to ride the tire with a bit more air pressure, thanks for the tip 🙂

Got a puncture on my Meteor 350 a while ago. Took the large screw out, very slow leak. Made it home. Put a plug in it, filled up tire. 6 months later no issues. That's the difference between tubes and tubeless.

Glad you're OK Marc. Regarding the mirrors folk seem to like the RE touring mirrors or the bar end ones although the price is a little eye watering!

I am pleased you were able to control your bike as it's so easy to slip off. I had the same problem, my back wheel started weaving and I couldn't understand why. It turned out to be a puncture and it had no pressure in it. It had a long nail sticking through the middle of the tread and I had no pump. I was fortunate and able to ride it home at 40mph. It was very easy to remove the rear wheel to get it repaired. p.s it appears to be the same with every small Enfield this vibrating mirror issue..

I believe that there are TPMS systems you can fit so you can read live pressures via phone app which could be useful. Ride safe!

I put Halcyon bar end mirrors on my Bullet. Much clearer view and can fold them out in narrow lanes.

    Moin Marc,

      Marc

That tire is no good now from riding on it flat. The cords are damaged and it will degrade or possibly blow out if you ride it. FYI...knobby tires are easier to puncture than road tires. That may be a rim leak but regardless the tire is a goner sorry to say.

I also had a problem with tire pressure. it turned out that there was a problem with the valve machine. it was not tightened

Had the same problem with a himalayan. It was definitely a puncture... felt like the bike was on ice... had to be recovered due to the tubed tyres..
I now run with a TPMS and check it regularly while riding... it was only £35.00 and is accurate enough for these situations...
    Be safe ...

Do these tires require rim locks?
Glad you are okay. Tubes tend to blow out big time and tubeless seem to give you time to become aware of the flat. I flatted the front tire on my GL1800 and put a plug in and then rode home at a max of 50 mph as the temperature was. 120 F in the desert I was in.
If you have low pressure you can ride the tire to where it comes off the rim and I have heard of some guys with tubes doing this to break the bead.

It was an immediate loss of air and the tire got flat and slipped of the rim, so I was lucky not to crash the bike.

About the tire: I assume the tire was badly glued.
One question: Are you now driving without the O² sensor connected?

    • @Marc.Stones
      @Marc.Stones  4 місяці тому +1

The O2 Sensor is connected. Glued tubeless tires?

    • @tim46767
      @tim46767 4 місяці тому

@@Marc.Stones Yes, it's better to stick tubeless tires on the rim or at least seal them. If they had been glued together, they would not have been able to come off the rim so easily.
