Quick note! If you have a shield and your preferred armor set gives you Guard Up, you can block the fire that's on the ground! It will drop your sharpness a bunch, but you won't take the big ticks of damage either! If you're an ironbreaker who likes being an iron wall, this could save you in a pinch!
Important tip! The pillar In the final room will NOT block her river of fire vomit attack!

It seems like running with a good team of four only and purposefully not breaking the horns first time is probably the way to go maxing out reward levels can be achieved in two good runs I reckon
Not really game changing, but something that I do is farm Gajalaka's for throwing knives to make paralysis knives. There are loads of Crystalburst (?) around and the will one-shot Gajalaka, so as you're naturally moving around the map collect up five knives. Your Parashrooms are located directly below the camp, on the left of the ramp into the lava room and at the back of the lava room near where the single boulder hangs. So, by the time you enter the final room you should have five paralysis knives for an easy stun.
i got a few rarity 8 weapons but none of them are anywhere close to some other weapons. the things are more tame in this game compared to 4 where you can get mega ones.
There are sleep herbs around too. 4 throwing knives with them put it to sleep.
Daedlus 12 just have a bowgun
Well yeah, but if no one does, they can do this to put it to sleep.
well its best to just go make one cause these weapons really arent worth the grind the armors worth more
There is one more tip I found while hunting her solo, when she stands on her back legs to shoot fire down you can hit her with a slinger shot to knock her down for a decent while. You can see this in action on the last video he posted of the hunt at 15:40. This does not work in the final area when she is enraging though, the slinger hit will show 0 damage during that.
I noticed this as well while raiding on her, albeit I only noticed because I picked up a 'Dragon Treasure', which like all equivalents, 'Wyvern Tears' etc, signals that you knocked the monster out of a special attack. They're usually worth about 300-800 research points and are always the same type for a specific monster. One of Taroths shiny bits will be a Dragon Treasure if you interrupt the molten breath attack, worth 800 research points. If the number crunchers get a chance, they should see if that contributes to the Pursuit level.

Yes. Not enough people know this. I run lance so am usually busy blocking the attack to hit her with the crystal bursts, but people that have to get out of the way should do this always for a possible knock down.
i tried to sleep lance it but you know randoms and all, everytime it falls asleep someone gets trigger happy so i gave up, i've had one good run out of like 15 where the horns got broken was 2 lance 2 greatsword and they knew to stop when sleep happens love those players... to the rest of you please stop playing like noobs thanks.
Just a few tips from a gunlance main:
-In the last phase I usually set barrel bombs as traps, so when Kulve comes charging, she'll ram her head into the bomb.
-Also the charge attack usually leaves you out of place to attack the horns, but if you're using a lance and stand near a wall after blocking the charge attack, it will leave you in place to land a few hits on the horns most of the time.
-You can also use the ramp at the beginning to level yourself with the horns and attack a bit better.
-If you manage to evade his lava breath, you can use that time to hit the tail.
-finally the lance shield blocks the lava breath completely, with 10-11 hits each time.
I dropped the earplugs for part breaker. Basing on my personal observation, she doesn't roar as much, and even if she did, it gives you enough time to recover, even when you're in a tight spot.....unless she backed you on a wall and she spews her lava on you. So yes, you'll need to choose either having earplugs or part breaker, but I would recommend the latter, IF you are comfortable with that skill.
Also, kick the horseshoe crabs. I know, it sounds bad, but they drop dragon pods/piercing pods., so grab those. Flash pods aren't as effective against her. And, if you have enough slots in there, try to max Fire Res skill if you can.
Agreed, she rarely roars during the fight. She'll be roaring when you enter an area, and whenever she's about to exit an area. And those are not really big damage windows. Compared to other elders or diablos/rath/rathalos, she is the quiet type.
Pursuit Level has nothing to do with rewards. What Pursuit level does is give you scoutfly detection, part breakability, and more time before the quest ends, as listed in the rightside information panel. Now, there's another gauge named "Reward Level", this is what affects rewards. You upgrade this by progressing thru different areas of the map, breaking parts, releasing KT, etc.
The first drop out of the base camp, aim to the left and fire your grappling hook for a headstart on the quest. You can grab grapple the Beetle as you are falling. Also, you can navigate the entire area via the grappling hook, some of the hard to see grapple points are up on a third level. The third level also gives you the biggest FOV
I use a lance set based around Love’s Sorrow augmented with health steal, I can stand right in his fire breath and steal enough to stay alive through the whole attack
I use Nergigante's Lance. Funny thing is with Guard Up not only can you block that attack and take very little chip dmg, but you can also spam counter thrust. And if positioned correctly you can get nice dmg on the head

Please dont just stand wherever as a Lance user, usually in the middle of the room. I have had far too many runs now, where a lance user turtles away from walls and inclines, melee needs to use to consistently attack her head.

You shouldn't have to tank the fire . Considering, if you position the boss correctly in each area you can cut your time in half, I would say lance is probably one of the worst weapons to use. You turtle in the middle of an area, have lower damage output than nearly every weapon and interrupt other melee when attacking the head. Whatever gets the job done, but shields in general have less mobility and the whole encounter is setup around using the environment more than any other monster. Using the walls, boulders and inclines will make a 20 minute run drop down to 10-12.
Hey Ruri, I've never commented on a vid of yours, but just wanted to say thanks for all of your tips and weapon tutorials. They've been immensely helpful to me as a first time monster Hunter, and they're the videos I suggested to my friends and my brother to start with. Thanks for this one as well; the raid is a blast. Hopefully I'll get a Rarity 8 long sword and switch axe to drop at some point!
I'll stand close to the lava pits where it erupts and shoot the cave spikes down when they're close to bursting so you can work at the head and she'll take damage from the lava bursts. I also would throw a ghilli mantle on and she'll just stand there taking lava damage. And for the final area you can set up Mega Bbombs and position yourself parallel to her so she'll charge head first into them
Pro tip: Sleepbomb her horns in the second area. 2x4 mega barrel bombs and a well placed dragon piercer and the horns chip. No stressing out about that for the rest of the fight.
Sadly a lot of noobs don't care about her sleeping, so you would have to have a good team or just get lucky with the randoms.
Cannons are definitely worth it! She takes extra damage from them so each one is 360 a piece. That's an 1800 damage burst pretty much guaranteed part breaks. For a level 1 run she's so slow that you can set up multiple cannons in advance along her path.

Loading up the canons at the start and aiming them to where she'll pass by, and you'll be wrecking her head in no time. Managed to break the gold plating on her horns on the first area in a pursuit level 1 quests with that.
Obviously camping the canon is a no no, but setting them up in advance is the way to go in area 1.
Also, guard up with lance and gunlance through the fire attacks. She gives a great opening to smash her horns right after. You can block all damage and get 2-3 solid hits right on her face when her fire ends.
Reward level and pursuit level are completely different things! This quest rewards wasting your time to level up the reward level before finishing the siege.

Higher pursuit level =/= more rewards. Breaking parts is what gives you the points, thus the more points you earn, the higher the reward level.
A higher pursuit level will make it easier for you to break the parts, which in turn = more rewards. What you’re saying about the high pursuit level = more rewards is somewhat true, but it isnt the main factor.
I’m saying this cause i’ve finished the quest with a level 6 pursuit but with only a level 13 reward level, due to parts not being broken. This is just to clear things up, didnt expect it to be this long lmao.
What I would recommend for people to do/ setting up their teams is.
To have 4 geoups leader, and pull people people from lfg if neeede.
Also to gave 4 people in a party at max.

The guy setting up the team for our lobby was inviting people, and sending them to a leaders party and telling them what team to join. It was super smooth and easy to hunt.
I would really recommend a wide range support player, and someone having high elder seal just to keep her from spamming her move that can wipe teams.
You can break the golden coat in the 2nd area, it will make the 3rd area less frustrating. We did it several times last night.
Tip is to collect any kulv materials that drop for the glim stone. It's an absurd drop rate but most people don't get from carves. Pick up everything
One exception i find to stranding on fire.
I was able to stand there and i had the guard up skill with lance.
It eats your stamina but add long add the stamina is not gone you keep healthy with no damage.
In fact once it starts it Leif mashing a banging nose and i am unable to really lift shield.
I have not died once from it and i am able to stay there to it runs out then get 3 shots on the fac.
Fyi, if you are ranged or sword and shield, pick one side of an area and stay there, also it should be an area where melee can use the walls to jump and attack the head or under the stalagmites. Melee can't regularly attack the head if she is not near a wall or incline. Very frustrating when a shield goober stays in the middle of the room or ranged spread out on either side and she runs back and forth. If she is near an incline or wall to run up as a hammer user I can do crazy damage or very little if she is not.
Thanks for making this vid. Now maybe people will stop assuming they can survive her fire lol also worth noting: there are wedge beetles inside the second area, but DONT OVERUSE. ITS ANNOYING. She is mountable, and knocking her down can help a lot of heavy hitters such as elemental discharges and such. Also, make sure you use the finisher on her head so that you'll land near there is you haven't broken the playing on her horns yet.
When it gets knocked on the ground us great sword users get at least 1 true slice on the head but try to pop a might pill first

Thought I share my build I use to Solo him with.
Gun Lancer charged shell build.
Being tanky is important even as DPS.
For solo run we abuse Fortify to get us boosted up before stage 4. One feint stage 4 likely means you wont make it, so ensure you have died once or twice prior.

Higher defence makes a huge difference when hit by melee attacks.
We dont mind 30% more defence at stage 4 after 2 deaths. The attack boost dont matter much but if we do some melee attacks it helps in a none attack boosted build.
Charged shell with insane defenses and health regen.
Since charged shells have a set damage and hits like a truck vs kulve, it works wonders and since you do not need earplugs we can really work around this. Guard 3 is better then trying to use evasion tactics. You can block his breath attacks etc.
Just my 2 cents after trying every possible build out there and my own stuff, and a majority of weapons.
I suck at charge blade and lack auguments for them, I used them for switch axes and switch axe is super in stage 2 and 3. But in stage 4 : Gun Lance, Charge Blade is probably the safest and easist to do it with. If your really good DBs and SnS works wonders too. Great sword as well but my build is about being almost immune to damage while dishing out damage for solid solo runs without spending hours trying.
I spent 2 days trying and failing before coming up with this.

The "total build did not include my artillery 3 charm, so obvoiusly thats in there as well. Also its 2 lvl 3 sockets, 1 lvl 2 socket and 6 lvl 1 sockets so thats clear. For : Capacity, Sharpness and Part breaker. Then 6 lvl 1 slots to play around with as you please.
With the artillery gems the damage per ball is 435 so that puts the total up to 2175 if u can hit them all. Not saying it's a good idea to waste time to load it up but if u see her getting ready to go by one I would use it.
You mention the rocks in stage 3, but you did not mention the lava eruptions. They do 300 dmg per tick. The best case scenario is when you can knock KT down with the rocks, while on top of a lava eruption.
I don't think picking up pieces and tracks grants you more rewards, I think it makes it easier to beat Kulve by making it easier to track and break easy. Last night I did a couple of runs with some experienced randoms and we beat it on the 1st run, it was the first time I saw a full box of rewards at the end. So, I think it depends on how fast you beat Kulve without repeating the run again which will calculate how much rewards you get. Therefore, the less runs you do, the more rewards you get. Also I finally I got a different Rare-8 Hammer that I needed. Now I just need the last of the three.
I don't believe it is fire that is killing you because I run 40 fire res to take less damage from the heat wave she fires so I don't get 1 shot, I believe she is spewing molten gold and that's what's killing you because fire res only seems to have a very slight effect on your safety in that situation, that's my theory anyway.

So it seems like I want fire resist, part breaker, quick sheath, some relevant weapon skills if any, and maybe some wide range for team support with a fire proof mantel and health booster
Two questions. 1) Is anyone else having problems getting glimstones? I don't have a single one and I can't make the chest and coil without them. Any have any tips on increasing odds of getting them? And 2) Does the Legiana set bonus or the Guild set bonus help with rewards?
I was lucky and got 3 in one mission. 2 for carving the cold. Thing she dropped amd. One as a reward. Those are the only ones I've gotten
Carlos Guevara i think you have to break horn. When you break horn he drops this clump of gold metal that you can carve. I got my glimstone from carving that

I've done it a few times, been the group to break the horns 3 times, carved the clump of gold 4 times and not a single one. Rng is not my thing I guess

I got an lbg with 273 attack, eligible for non-elemental boost, -10 affinity, +20 defense, a level 3 slot, and it can fire spread 3 with low recoil if you mod it.
Farm her while you can boys and girls!
I wish it was more viable to solo this siege because last night I broke the horns solo after we got disconnected and it was so much easier for me to drop the things on her in area 3 cuz I didn't have to wait 10 minutes for my team to see my repeated signal to come to me.
What about using the Scholar skill? Doesn't it increase research levels?
lachiripiolca I considered that too but the rewards come at the end of the quest. Not sure if that would be useful
i am sure this video would helpful if i was better but i have barely gotten to HR 50 and i have no augments so i am just saying that all of the Kulve Taroth Tutorials i see are just trying to farm her and not to just get horns off and i am a Hammer main so i really need this done for the sleep hammer

I was able to reach reward level 17 today, completed the siege with randoms, and got the whole box filled. It was touch and go and some points, but we got away with great rewards.

Multiple sessions pop up.. choose one preferbly with alot of players, go to gathering hub and join or start a siege.
I play with randoms all the time and haven't failed once.

Do you know anything about opening the pathing in area 1? Like are there certain ones to do to get the most out of her path. After the first couple pursuit levels it doesn't really matter I know because she sprints to area 2 real soon.

Everything rarity 7 and 8 is viable, it's just a matter of building around each weapon. Rarity 6 is trash.
Did this hunt twice. I think that's enough since I'm not interested in trying to get relic weapons that aren't guaranteed to drop.
Rurikhan, just a random suggestion. Will you please make videos about good early game builds for each weapons (in your opinion) for newbie hunters?(like me). The cannons dont do 180 per shot, they do 360 per shot, withou heavy artillery
Best thing I got from kulve is a barroth switch axe with 120 para no awaken needed with power as its sword mode
She also takes 40 poison damage per second, so that’s a LOT of free damage
louisup5 Yeah, but sadly it is meaningless unless I’m mistaken. Since the goal isn’t to kill her, poison damage doesn’t do much. You gotta break the parts to win as far as I know.

My cannons do 360x5. I don't use heavy artillery either. Do not sure what that's about? Everytime I've landed the cannons it has been head on or from the side but still directly hitting his/her face. So not sure why yours is 180 and mine is 360 lol. 180 for cannon shot seems low and not worth the hassle. 360*5 on other hand that's like what 1800 dmg. I'd say it's worth trying to land the cannons then, but I agree I still wouldn't spec for Heavy Artillery. I can't remember the percentage tho. If it's say 50% that would be 540*5 so 2700 dmg per volley. Might def be worth it then if it is 50% increase and still I'd say only on the first attempt every new siege attempt. If it's less than 40-50% increase then I still wouldn't even bother unless YOU are a cannon loading/firing/aiming pro lol because I'm not.
Rurikhan i would love to see your cb build and gl build youre using for her as mine isnt very effective at breaking parts on her atm idk if my breakability is too low for the fight or if im doing something wrong idk if u reply to your viewers worth a shot though

FYI if you,"focus on damage and ignore tracks/chips". Your usefulness is limited. If you don't gather you're basically a palico who soak up our death count per run.
I use a Lance with some partbreaker just constantly charging into her dress good for damage and can get away in a hurry

Glimstones. How please?
Abbie Roberts random drops. You can get them by carving the gold horn plate she drops, or by picking up the random chuncks of gold she drops when you break parts of her gold mantle. Those are more rare though. Most times you get them from carving the gold cap. Also, as rewards for breaking parts, especially the tail spikes. It's her rarest drop, but there are multiple ways of getting them. So as long as you farm her enough, you should get one eventually if you do all those things.
From what I can gather Kulve is now gone, Will she come back at some point?
Wish I could do this event, but my sessions in this game always disconnect for no reason, meaning I lose all progress.
How come many groups leave the quest after its 3th fase? Is it normal to build up the reward level for the next time? Do i return or abandon the quest? Or should i continue solo?

I don't have artillery on my set and the cannons do 360 per shot on Kulve Tarroth so i dunno if its because its a raid event or what but yeah.
117Haseo She seems to take drastically more explosion damage and poison damage. Mega barrel bombs seem to do 360 damage per without her even being asleep. I've noticed blast procs do 240 damage and poison ticks for 40 damage each, but poison doesn't seem useful for a fight based around breaking parts, not actually killing
Edit: Elemental also seems to do obscene levels of damage to her. During shell phase, my tzitzi free element longsword is easily outdpsing my divine slasher. Like, breaking every piece of her body and horns to release her solo on pursuit 1
so i got a legendary lbg thats basically the thunder version of the barroth lbg but with 0% affinity and its BEAST against kulve taroth

is it possible to have 4 teams of 4 ppl each and all 4 of the teams to break the horns in their fight? or will the event end if another team breaks the horns and your team still working on it? ....im really curious if its possible for multiple teams to break horns in the same time, start the event all at once and go all at once.

astartespete I don’t blame them tbh. This is the first couple days of the mission being out. Give peeps a couple days and I’m sure they’ll figure it out. It gets very bothersome picking stuff up 24/7 as well.

Wolfblade333 Dragon is very very solid against her. But she’s weak to lighting. Also, the bug that leaves the cloud of explosives is good for breaking parts, but a paralysis bug is just as viable.
EDIT:She’s weak to lightning when she has her coat of gold. When I’m feeling like using the glaive I use nergigante’s glaive.

The event isnt worth it. The connection issues ruin most runs. You need to live off the farcaster, and its just generally not a fun run

I use a Vaal healing/defense with a health steal GS and while attacking I can almost stay in the lava blast tho I found that out by accident

I can't give you a guide, but I can tell ya what I've been doing. Basically its throwing yourself at her over and over to get your Pursuit level up to 6. That's really the only point that you can bring her down solo without playing at an absurd level just because of the time constraints.
If you're looking to farm materials, specifically for gems, once you get Pursuit level to 3 you can break the gold layer off her horns in the first area with a rock drop and a couple of Mega Barrel Bombs, maybe another rock knock down/mount take down (which makes her molten) to finish them off if you're not using a weapon with ranged/aerial capability. Carve the gold blob Then leave the mission, rinse and repeat. I was getting 1 gem an hour with this method, and each run took like 6 minutes max.
She's really, really nasty in that final area solo just cause hitting her horns is such a pain and she's super aggressive. Id argue for building yourself very defensively, get your Fire Rresist as up as you can for sure, Speed Eating, Stun Resistance, etc. And remember she is leashed to that last room once she's down there so you can run out if you need to.

i got rarity 8 elementless dual blades which wreck. it seems the rest of them are not worth getting though comparibly.
dragon blade Iirc the best pierce HBG is the Kulve "Support" and there is a rarity 7 Jagras Fangcannon Mirror that swaps wyvernheart for snipe if you would prefer that. There is also another rarity 8 Kulve HBG that has no recoil on all levels of scatter that is a major contender for scatter HBG. HBG got a lot of love from this event
i never really liked the bowguns at all in this game or any monster hunter for that matter. but i find them somewhat useful on kulve cause shes huge. but i got a tobi kadachi hbg that peaks my interest quite well and i love it. but will i use it on anything but raid monsters i highly doubt it im just not a hbg player.
I main HH and have done the quest about 20+ times. And I’ve gotten 4 of the gems and 2 Hunting horns ;-;
i got 2 rarity 8 hunting horns at the same pull. one had stupid damage the other had stupid high elemental damage

Rurikhan yes most definetly. I suppose what they're called doesn't really matter. What's important is that you max out both bars/ levels for the easiest most rewarding time.
How long is this available for, I've heard it is a limited quest.
I don't get much time to play and I'm still working my way through the story (Nergigante is the next story part after the masses of optionals) - I don't want to miss out!
