Great honest review there, thanks. Ive just got a fully waterproof coat and Im really impressed with how modern materials cope with stopping moisture getting in whilst still letting moisture out and then combining that with being durable and lightweight. The Montane Minimus does a great job for its price point. Thanks once again.
Thanks Phil. The materials are impressive, although moving forward I think companies have to look at alternatives to DWR coatings. They are not good for the water supply and fish !
Good review but I feel there is no such thing as a waterproof that is also breathable enough for running and/or strenuous uphill hiking. I prefer to use something like a rab vapour rose or marmot driclime (e.g pertex/micropile) these aren't waterproof but ironically the inner pile layer stays drier (when moving) than a baselayer/fleece does underneath an actual proper waterproof.
Thanks. I agree there is not a waterproof that will keep you dry when running hard and never will be ( you do not stay dry when the weather is dry). However, my shakedry jacket definitely felt more comfortable than this montane jacket in wet conditions. I take your point about a windproof layer being just as comfortable.
My Montane Minimus is rubbish. Leaks like a seive and only a year old. Ran for 3 hours in constant rain today, and my clothes were soaked underneath jacket. Can't recommend.
I have to say, after using it this winter it is also failing to impress. I now wouldn't want to be using it in really bad weather to be honest. However, although very wet, I haven't yet been cold.

@@huntonthetrails yes, we need to save the planet.
🏃♀ Your Montane jacket review is super helpful. 🌦 Love the fit and durability. 💪 Breathability could improve though. 😓 Have a fantastic week!
Thank you. The jacket is good, but not great !
