The last guy was also a hero for understanding that he had to be turned back upright in order to regain his ability to swim. When a shark is on its back it is under a trance known as tonic immobility. Notice how once the shark was flipped back upright and got water circulation through its gills, he regained his bearings and was able to eventually swim away. Good job sir👍👍

The guy with the yellow cap did well. He pointed the shark into the waves so the water could flow through the gills again and the shark could breathe. That's why it took a moment to swim away.

Also tried to push it forward as much as he could to increase the inflow.

That's a beautiful Mako and thank goodness someone helped. To those who don't know this, sharks have to be moving at all times to pass oxygenated water over their gills (how sharks breathe) if you see a stranded shark on a beach it is slowly suffocating and is no danger to anyone. Guide the shark into water deep enough for them to breathe and once they recover they will take off in their own time.

You never do this. There's a reason it did this. A sick or injured shark is very dangerous to humans. Since it can't catch it's normal meal it will go after ppl. It's been shown countless times. @@Verygulliblemousethe air in the water goes through the gills and that's what he means by through his mouth or over the gills either way. If they stop for to long they can't breathe.
They have to be turned upright an balanced for a bit, they go into a trance like state on their back. The guy who held on saved the shark or he'd probably just came back ashore.
Sharks keep moving perpetually enabling them to breathe however some shark species don’t need to swim constantly in order to breathe .

Him gasping like that really shook me. It broke my heart. I can't see any animal in distress, even sharks. All of you got a good heart wanting to save him, esp the last guy, making sure he's upright and balanced and pointed in the right direction until he was able to get water through his gills to breath. Such a suburb act of kindness. Absolutely love it! ❤️

Most people are so (illogically) afraid of sharks that they'd want it to die.
Never do this. Sick or injured sharks kill people since they can't get their normal meal. And that's what beached sharks are. Sick or injured. Ask any marine biologist that studies sharks. There's one here on YT that I would bet my life will say never do this. Shar Bites is the channel iirc. He prob said it before, actually.
