That says a lot when your character bio consists of "Protect babes, kill aliens, spit savage one liners." The franchise used to be tongue-in-cheek machismo and a parody of 80's action heroes. The latter part is largely irrelevant nowadays. There aren't even many good movies to draw quotes from any more.

The DLC is actually the most redeeming part of this shitfest, it brings back Dr. Proton, Duke's very first villain from the pre-3D games... before killing him off halfway through.
That's also the only part done by Gearbox. According to a 3D Realms employee on their discord, 3D Reapms and Tryptech did the campaign. All Gearbox did was make a new Duke model to please 2K and release it as-is ay 2k's orders. Seeing that part, you know Gearbox can make a good Duke

I remember being so fuckin' excited for this game when it first came out, got it for my birthday in the summer of 2011, I was never so fuckin' sad and disappointed in my life. Duke Nukem 3D was the first game I've ever played, been a fan of the series ever since and then this pile of shit came out, still makes me depressed.
Delaying is one thing but switching game engines forcing your devteam to start from scratch again each time is what ultimately killed this game and Daikatana.

This game was definitely a mixed bag, and some aspects of it were admittedly mediocre, but there were some other aspects that were either kinda decent, or provided a nice guilty pleasure vibe.

You wanna know something sad? The last game that Duke has appeared in wasn't even this one. He appeared in that remaster of Bulletstorm as a playable character replacing Grayson Hunt as the main character. Granted, it was funny hearing Duke saying that he "wasn't supposed to be here", berating anyone who mistook him for Grayson and getting his own unique lines of dialogue, but the fact that he appeared in a game that wasn't his own still depresses me. To make matters worse, he appeared in a game that never even got a sequel. No, instead we got Gears of War: Judgement instead. Thank a lot, Epic Games!
I did something similar a few years back. Though I got it more to see the game behind the story and found it to be pretty average. Not as bad as people say but it does absolutely have a few flaws in places. Not bad for what I pad though.

After playing DNF from start to finish, not only did my balls finally drop (at the ripe young age of 25) but they were also covered in a jungle of pubic hair where there was clean, baby-soft skin before. I could see clearly. I was enlightened. I had testicles. I was finally a real manly man! Thank you, DNF! You are a piece of shit game, but you taught me a real and valuable lesson about life.
It’s so unsatisfying how small Duke feels in this game. In Doom Eternal, you felt massive, like you towered over everyone around you. But in this game, you feel like an actor that’s short in real life but is made to look tall in fight scenes

I bought this game as a joke but ended up playing through the whole thing and having fun with it.
I did something similar a few years back. Though I got it more to see the game behind the story and found it to be pretty average. Not as bad as people say but it does absolutely have a few flaws in places. Not bad for what I pad though.

Duke Nukem Forever is one of the most memorable games ive ever played and ive played it once. I remember more from Duke Nukem Forever than I can remember from most games I play, AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO CALL IT HORRIBLE.

From the first hour of playing DNF I learned that being a loyal super-fan for 10+ years, and spending countless hours on the official forums, and getting hyped from trailers, and building up high expectations, and believing everything the developers tell the fans..... these are all fucking pointless and idiotic endeavours, because this is a cold, uncaring universe where god does not exist and no one gives a shit about what you want.
After playing DNF from start to finish, not only did my balls finally drop (at the ripe young age of 25) but they were also covered in a jungle of pubic hair where there was clean, baby-soft skin before. I could see clearly. I was enlightened. I had testicles. I was finally a real manly man!
Thank you, DNF! You are a piece of shit game, but you taught me a real and valuable lesson about life.

It’s so unsatisfying how small Duke feels in this game. In Doom Eternal, you felt massive, like you towered over everyone around you. But in this game, you feel like an actor that’s short in real life but is made to look tall in fight scenes
