That wasn't the actual end to the game. Those are the opening credits that you see with that "ending". But to get the real ending is stupid specific. You have to wait until he threatens to hit you, click on the red book behind you to start to trigger the "Continue" ending, then instead of picking a dialogue option, click on the clock and stare at it until it hits 12.

The whole concept of the game is that he's being hypnotized by the dad which is trying to help us forget, that's why he's the same person as the Cop. That's the reason for the staring into the clock theme, and the end dialogs such as "I changed my mind", its all a therapy.

Technically every failure is a ending and Charlie didn't even reach the true ending where the protagonist and others related basically changes/forgets everything in the past, so basically they never met and he never fell in love with his half sister because as much as this is the husband's fault its also the fathers
The reference to The Shining with the hallway carpet makes sense as a reference that they are looped into coming back to life in the same damn room every twelve minutes, just like Jack was "always" the caretaker.
To be specific, the loops only last 10 minutes. The game is called twelve minutes because the conversation with the dad took 2 minutes, so in total it's 12 minutes.
I've seen too much anime to not be shocked anymore when plot-lines like these arise... only this time I was mildly surprised when it involves savagely eating dessert while you sister-wife cries her eyes out with nary a fuck to give.

What is it with Narrative-Gamers and their incredibly low standards? The story is dumb and the dialogue terrible because the characters keep forgetting what you were talking about before :D
I finished this game and 100%ed all the achievements last night. I'm happy to see that Charlie is equally as confused and let down by the ending(s) and how you reach them. I would love for someone to explain something to me though... So it's revealed that the events taking place during the gameplay portion of the game are entirely within the protagonist's head. If this is the case, then what is actually real/took place in reality and what is just fantasy? Is the man essentially giving you therapy the father, and is that actually happening, or is it just in your head? Is the wife/sister nearly killing her father in self-defense, stealing his pocket watch, and then running away real? Why does the sister/wife react so strongly to the protagonist finding the watch in front of her, and why on earth does she refuse to give up its location even upon immenent threat on her husband's life? Is the father's affair with the nanny and the protagonist later murdering the father real? Did the sister's mother actually die when she was young? Did the protagonist actually marry the wife/sister? Is she actually pregnant with his child? Without knowing the answers to these questions, I'm not left thinking, "cool, what a good game, I wonder what was real and what wasn't..." Instead I'm just left thinking, "I have no strong feelings of any sort about this whole experience now, because there's no way for me to actually care about the plot or characters when for all I know everything was just fantasy." Honestly between all these feelings of apathy following the game's ending reveal and the tedious UI and loop mechanics, this game was so mediocre. Interesting ideas, but terrible execution (my opinion of course).

Charlie, you should really play a new game called The Forgotten City. It’s a first person exploration/puzzle/light combat game. It started out as a Skyrim mod but it won awards and such so they made it into a full game. It has a unique time loop feature like this game and the writing and story are incredible. It’d be super cool to see you play.

The reference to The Shining with the hallway carpet makes sense as a reference that they are looped into coming back to life in the same damn room every twelve minutes, just like Jack was "always" the caretaker.
To be specific, the loops only last 10 minutes. The game is called twelve minutes because the conversation with the dad took 2 minutes, so in total it's 12 minutes.
I've seen too much anime to not be shocked anymore when plot-lines like these arise... only this time I was mildly surprised when it involves savagely eating dessert while you sister-wife cries her eyes out with nary a fuck to give.

I finished this game and 100%ed all the achievements last night. I'm happy to see that Charlie is equally as confused and let down by the ending(s) and how you reach them. I would love for someone to explain something to me though...
So it's revealed that the events taking place during the gameplay portion of the game are entirely within the protagonist's head. If this is the case, then what is actually real/took place in reality and what is just fantasy? Is the man essentially giving you therapy the father, and is that actually happening, or is it just in your head? Is the wife/sister nearly killing her father in self-defense, stealing his pocket watch, and then running away real? Why does the sister/wife react so strongly to the protagonist finding the watch in front of her, and why on earth does she refuse to give up its location even upon immenent threat on her husband's life? Is the father's affair with the nanny and the protagonist later murdering the father real? Did the sister's mother actually die when she was young? Did the protagonist actually marry the wife/sister? Is she actually pregnant with his child?
Without knowing the answers to these questions, I'm not left thinking, "cool, what a good game, I wonder what was real and what wasn't..." Instead I'm just left thinking, "I have no strong feelings of any sort about this whole experience now, because there's no way for me to actually care about the plot or characters when for all I know everything was just fantasy."
Honestly between all these feelings of apathy following the game's ending reveal and the tedious UI and loop mechanics, this game was so mediocre. Interesting ideas, but terrible execution (my opinion of course).

Charlie, you should really play a new game called The Forgotten City. It’s a first person exploration/puzzle/light combat game. It started out as a Skyrim mod but it won awards and such so they made it into a full game. It has a unique time loop feature like this game and the writing and story are incredible. It’d be super cool to see you play.
