I have the same seat and my wife complains about it because it's not wide enough, I did 500 mile 8 hours after only having a 100 miles on the seat. It wasn't bad by myself but if they made it the same width as the stock hammock, my wife would be happier. I had a drag specialties pillow top on my Victory and she loved it but it was not that comfortable for me. Thank you for putting this together as others have been complaining about this seat.
My wife says the same thing. She's only put about 200 miles on it but some of that is because she doesn't like the seat. I had a butt buffer installed under my Victory Hammer 8 Ball and she has a pad that I'd attach when she rode with me on that bike. She preferred the stock seat of them all. I like this one most. Thanks for the view and comment.
@@chumps7974 It becomes looks vs. comfort. I like the look of the slimmer seat on the bike. I like the comfort of the bigger seat for the ride! Thanks for the view and comment!
I made a mistake and purchased a Mustang Super Touring seat for my ‘21 SGS. It didn’t work for me. Now I have to sell it. Currently rocking a HD seat with a Butt-Buffer pad. The pad is amazing but hope to find a seat that works for a skinny boney ass. Pad gets me to 2 hours without stopping. Not sure if 3 hours is possible with any seat for me but 2.5h would be perfect.
I hear you! The search for a good seat never ends! 😂I will say that this seat takes a long time to fully break-in. It feels like a brick in the beginning. Now that mine is broken in, I think it's a fabulous seat. Honestly, I was happy with the stock seat. If it was extended reach, I would have never changed it. Which has me considering a hammock style from HD.
Got one "in my cart". Been burned by seats that looked comfy in the past. Expensive mistakes. So I appreciate your review. Comfy on long riding days is what I'm after. My daily seat is an LS Step up extended reach. It isn't quite comfy enough on 700 mile days, which is why I'm researching the Road Sofa.
I hope to catch you in time. I just returned from a 3,200-mile trip. The first leg was Buffalo to Knoxville. (725 miles). Let me tell you, I was sore when we got there. I could still feel it in the morning when we mounted up again. (250 mile day) By the next morning, l was better. I am seriously considering another seat before I take another 700-mile trip. I'm a bigger guy. 6 feet tall and about 260 lbs. I think I'm going to look into a hammock style seat with more surface. I've come to believe it's personal preference. Some people like firm beds, others like softer beds. The same is true with seats for distance. I loved the seat for rides I've taken 0-500 mile distance. At 700, I was questioning my purchase. Hey, thanks for the view and comment! I hope this added information helps you!
One other thing to consider. Many HD Dealers have demo seats. I'd suggest reaching out to see if yours has one and if you can try it for a few days. It could be worth the time. Clearly, I'm not sponsored by Saddlemen, so this is my honest opinion of the seat. Like I said in the video, "if my stock seat was extended reach, I probably wouldn't have changed it."I think I'm a hammock style seat guy."
I've come to the same conclusion. It's very costly to do trial and error. My Road King came with a cvo seat that looks good but isn't any good after 2 hours. My Road sofa is way better than stock but there may be others that are better. I don't want to pay the tax to compare
The stiffness and your right you sit much taller on this seat which can change your wind protection. It took some time to get use to for sure. Now it feels natural. Thanks for the view and comment!
I bought the same seat plus rider and passenger back rest. I have a 2019 CVO Limited and had the stock seat modified and set back 1.5 inches so when I bought the LS it stated it was 2 inches back from stock. I didn't think that extra 1/2 inch would have made a difference, but it did. I am 6'2" and 300 lbs so I need the extra room, but the 2 inches was too much. It put me in an awkward riding position, and I just wasn't comfortable. My back took a toll because it didn't touch the rider back rest. I put 2500 miles on the seat, and it just never got comfortable. I ended up going back to my original seat and I am talking to Saddlemen about returning everything. Wife didn't like the narrow passenger seat.
Just got that seat at Harley dealer only put fifty miles on it Better than stock i have a2023 Street glide special to hot here southeast Va to ride now maybe next week your seat and looks great on your bike
Thanks for the video. It took me a while to find somebody talking about the seat next to the motorcycle with it installed. Other note as you continue to blackout your bike, don’t forget your saddlebag levers cheap quick replacement to get rid of that chrome piece.
I appreciate the view and the comment. You know, I thought about the levers a long time ago but completely forgot about it. I'm definitely going to do that upgrade this season! Thanks for suggestion/reminder!
I think you're going to like it after the break-in period. It's going to feel stiff at first, and you're going to feel taller if you're coming from the stock seat. But eventually, it'll feel perfect.
@jeffwilliams716 that's what I have heard. I have the stock seat on it now. The last owned took apart the stock seat and hacked it up really bad. So I'm sure this will be a huge improvement
I’m going to be looking for a longer seat when I get out of hospital. My seat now is for a shorter person and it caused an abscess that turned in to a blood infection. Almost snuffed the life out of me because of a seat. I’m still not out of the woods yet, but feeling better. 😎👍
Loosen the four bolts under the tourpak mount and move the tourpak forward to get rid of the space. That is unless your passenger has to have the extra room. But since there is no seat padding that far back she probably is sitting a bit more forward anyway. Moving the Tourpak may make your passenger more comfortable.
Awesome! Thank you for the sub! It will feel stiff/hard at first. It took me some time to get use to it. Once I did, crushing miles has not been an issue!
Great video! We have the same exact seat! Susan loves it & can ride the entire day comfortably! I am not a fan. After a few hours, I start wiggling around from being sore! lol!
That's just the opposite for my wife. She liked the stock seat better. When we go to Milwaukee and Sturgis, I'll put the stock seat on for her. Thanks for the view and comment.
My wife ended up buying a tank bra. She must have been sick of me complaining about the marks showing. I'll definitely try to buff it out before I put the tank bra on. Thanks for the view and comment!
I just got one and I found that it killed my tailbone. Did 300 miles on it yesterday and was never so glad to get off the bike as I was last night. Girlfriend didn't like it either other than the fact it was heated. Like the fact that it was narrower in the front and the room I had. But it was just not comfortable.
I will be 100% honest with you. I was at the dealership for one of my service mile maintenances. While my bike was in the back, I purchased the seat, and the dealership swapped the stock seat for me. Since then, I have had no reason to remove the seat personally. I am having no issues with the guards at all. No damage to the seat either. You're the second person who told me the website says that. Thanks for the view and comment.
Thanks for the view and comment. I will try to buff it out. I think my wife was sick of me talking about it so she bought me a tank bra! LOL. I agree. The seat definitely felt stiff and it has you sitting taller, which took some getting use to. But it also changed my wind protection which had me change to a Klock Werk windshield too.
Jeff, hopefully you can answer this for me. On your seat, is the passenger seat higher or lower than your stock seat? My wife says she is too high and catches to much wind.
Thanks for the view and comment. Yes. The stock seat has a much lower profile for both the driver and the passenger. I ended up getting a taller smoked windscreen. Downside to that sometimes I'm looking through it, especially uphill, and at night that's tough. I hit a lot of potholes at night that could have been avoided with a clear screen.
Has the wife grown to like the new seat as it breaks in? How many miles do you have on the new seat because im hearing that it takes a couple thousand miles for it to break in. Being 5'8" i think the narrower width would help me at lights and parking lots etc for slow speed manuevering and feet up/down in traffic, etc
My wife does NOT like the seat. She had a few hundred miles before Sturgis. She put 1000 miles on it while we were in Sturgis, and she was sore. I almost have 25k on the bike now so in total I have about 18,000 miles on it now. I will say, I was ready to get off the bike after our trip to Knoxville. That was like 15 hours in the saddle, and I felt that!
How's the air flow? With the ridges and separations I feel like you might get a little more airflow under the giblets when making quick adjustments. The stock seat seems like good seal for heat.
Great point. I didn't mention that the seat is also perforated. They send a cover for the seat because if it rains, that seat will absorb some moisture. But yes, it does allow good air flow. I will need to do a follow-up on this seat because when we got to Knoxville, I was saddle sore for sure! I considered buying a seat and shipping this one back to my house. LOL
Check with a HD dealer. My dealer had demo seats to try out and they encouraged me to do that before I bought the seat. But silly me said, I know it's the seat I want so throw it on and I'll go pay for it. I can not speak to the customer service of Saddlemen and their return policy. Thanks for the view, comment, and question!
I found it's a lot like a bed. Some people like a softer bed and others a more firm bed. The same is true with motorcycle seats. Some will like the softer hammock style and others the firmer roadsofa style. Thanks for the view and comment!
My wife bought me a tank bra so that will cover those marks. Someone else suggested zip ties and tuck the wires under. I'm going to try that tonight. Thanks for the view and comment!
I had a bit of buyers remorse for the fist 100-200 miles because of the stiffness of the seat compared to the stock seat. It also sat me up taller and changed my wind protection. It took a bit of time getting use to it. Now it feels natural. Thanks for the view and comment.
Thanks for the view and comment KBG! FYI - My wife preferred the comfort of the stock seat more. I think she liked more surface to sit on but hasn't ridden enough to break it in. I've heard that same thing for other 2 up riders. Susan from TwoUpJourneyJunkies felt the same way.
