  • Rihanna has taken on the lingerie fashion show space after the titan of the industry Victoria Secret has fallen from grace. She's made is a fashion and performance extravaganza of epic proportions, with the likes of Normani, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Migos, and other performing and walking in the show. But will it bode well for the celebrity designer?

    The difference between Victoria's Secret and Fenty x Savage is that Victoria sells a fantasy to men and Fenty empowers women of every shape, form and color to feel powerful.

    this is how you do "woman." it's fierce, it's strong, it's glorious, it's gorgeous, it's together, it's diverse, it's inclusive. the women aren't simply objectified, they are objectively partaking in the spectacle. they know they're the art; they know they are the movement, the action. they aren't just up there to be stared at and critiqued--they're up there to show what they can do, what they are, who they are. this is dope on so many levels and i applaud rihanna for making this happen.

      k a y l e e it's yet another celebrity overpriced yet cheap made brand. Yeah it's inclusive (which could be just a marketing strategy to differentiate from its concurrent VS) but you know who else is inclusive ? Siriano who happens to be also a designer, a real artist and not an already rich person that just puts its name on brands, goes from millionaire to billionaire within few years and gets all the credit because its already a huge success. Just like Vogue sucking up to the kardashians or pretending to care about body types and colors when they always have been white size zero

      Ema Oulhissane I don't know shit about the product value or quality but what I can see is this show will influence a lot of people positively and is a step towards a diverse mentality. You can pinpoint all the negatives but you can't deny the effect this will have in the cultural mentality

      @@Ema-nt3gp Whataboutism isn't cute. Rihanna and Siriano exist in 2 different design spaces. Siriano consistently receives credit for his work so why are you tearing down Rihanna to give him credit? They can coexist especially because last time I checked Siriano isn't making women's lingerie. Give Rihanna credit for changing societal and industrial awareness of what it means to be a sexy woman. It isn't hard to say, "she's making a difference."

      Can I just step in and disagree, politely. Cause I do think that the primary function of sexy lingerie is to appeal to your partner? I mean what, you put it on and you do what? Go to work in it and think to yourself "omg I look so hot under this suit im wearing" yea doesnt add up.
      Everyone wants to be attractive in the bedroom for their partner.

    • @runway5338
      @runway5338 4 роки тому +102

      Dusan DuHast true, that’s what a good portion of ppl who buy and wear sexy lingerie think. However, there are women out there who wear those types of lingerie just for themselves. Why? Cause they like it. They like the thought of it. They feel comfortable in it, and it may even give them a bit of a boost. A type of physical (not necessarily sexual, tho it could be) confidence.
      Or it’s just a part of their normal, everyday routine. A little something to pamper themselves-especially if it not only looks flattering but is also comfortable. Just something for them. Now, do they go around thinking the whole day about how hot they look under their clothes? Or how hot they feel wearing their lingerie? Probably not, especially if they’re used to it, unless it’s just something that weighs heavily in their mind. It’s probably just something fun to see whenever they’re changing. Just food for thought.

    This Savage Fenty brand at least shows that you can be cute or sexy at any color or size, as long as you use your body, dance, jump. This is about living your live, not just being a generic thing to be adored. This show is for women by women. Love it!

I have a thrift store in my area that has fabulous finds for $2. I got wool suits, leather mules and purses, mom jeans and fancy cocktail dresses each for less than $2. I basically stopped shopping new. My goal is to put my shopping money in eating well, staying in shape so I don’t gain weight and need to shop for new stuff. It’s good for my pocket and the planet. I forgot it for years, until I decided once and for all, to sort this out. After much research, I am ASTOUNDED to discover my perfect sized bra is 32E!!! Wtaf??!?!? @@ruthy5895 It's good that they fit nicely but that doesn't make the design interesting. There are many nice basic lingerie brands. When it gets a whole big show like this it shouldn't be just about the show and diversity, the product should actually tell something, be somewhat innovative. But yes whatever that's all marketing and capitalism for you. Fashion is fucking dead. (few exceptions obvs)

      Amber Z but basic brands like you say don’t make FAT ASS TITTIES bras. They make big bras based off small ones and that doesn’t work. Rihanna saw a gap in that and makes money off of it. I still haven’t found a brand that sells big bras with accurate sizing besides hers, sadly I’ve paid 80€+ for mistakes and H&M might have cute bras but if it doesn’t fit I’m not purchasing. It is what it is. Might be “basic” but it’s less basic than the typical nude, black, burgundy and white designs those stores only have. If you have big ol boobs you would know what I’m talking about. :(

      @@ruthy5895 I always struggle finding bras that fit, I not sure Rihanna nailed the sizing tho as a 32 only goes up to an E cup (I know for smaller brands it's harder to make a larger range but I wish brand would stop assuming only "larger/plus size" women have boobs bigger than an E), best brand I've found is Pour Moi. They go up to a J cup I believe & you can get some really cute bras on sale for < £15!

    she’s new to the game, bashing other brands, and made more of a concert and a dance party then a fashion show. this is what happens when singers try to “expand” into other industries they have no experience about. both victoria’s secret and rihanna’s brand are good, and it is no point saying she’s better when she hasn’t been in this game for that long at all. we don’t need to put others down to bring others up.

    I love how it shows you that these pieces are not just for being pretty. It’s meant to move with you and serve a purpose unlike VS where you just sit and look pretty.

    Victoria secret is good for different reasons. Lingerie has a place when you want to impress your lover... But there is also the lingerie you want to wear for yourself
