I have this engine and want to swap into my 64 with a 4 barrel carburetor. Seeing it's possible gives me hope. I just wanna thank u guys for showing the good with the bad. Showing it's not always gonna go perfect. I figured the distributor was gonna be the only real problem I'd run into it since it has to do with timing. Good video overall man
Thank you
I prefer to use the dura spark distributor because it can be matched with an MSD ignition module. and because it uses the identical pick-up as MSD. and it's a true CDI (capacitive discharge ignition). and there isn't any of the fitment issues associated with the HEI distributor. but otherwise this looks like good EFI to carburetor conversion.
Carbs are awesome. A Wideband gauge, tuning kit, pressure regulator and vacuum gauge will have your carb tuned right.
That's what I'm talking about! if you're a EFI lover, either don't understand shit about engines, or you've never driven a properly tuned car with a carb.
Got something big coming up. It’s much faster now.
Amen to that brother!
I made my fox body same its badass only thing dont like the cold starts but everything else works fine
Thanks for the video this is the best video I’ve seen for doing the swap to a Carb! I have a 1991 5.0 5 speed Fox Mustang I want to swap to Carb thanks for the help!
Thank you! Good luck with yours.
Great video, it answered all the questions I had, I had been wondering if I could run my 95 with a carb without molesting it,and easily re install the EFI again I didn't see why you couldn't just remove the EFI intake assembly tuck some of the stuff aside adapt into the fuel lines with a regulator toss an intake carb and hei on it and let her eat...
Let’s fucking go! I’m in the middle of doing this. I’ve watched several videos and spoke to my older gear head friends for all the tricks. First time seeing your video pop up as a recommendation. Glad it did. I love seeing how other people create their builds. I have a 1995 mustang gt 302
>AFR heads
>Comp cam rockers
>Trick flow pushrods (6.250)
>BBK shorty headers (because long tube create more work…. Down the road I may move to long tube)
>Edelbrock RPM air gap dual plane intake manifold
>speed doctor alternator relocation bracket
>smog pump delete
>a/c delete
>trick flow stage 2 cam
@@motor_citymuscle288 nice man
Will be doing the swap on my 88 Country Squire. Very informative video, THANKS!!
Thanks for the video because I'm fixing to do this to mine and it was really helpful. I wish you had shown how to make the 85 model throttle cable work with that bracket....
I’m going to do another video on the throttle cable. It gave us all kinds of issues. We now have it worked out perfectly.
@@HiRevzMedia Cool!! I can't wait
Hey bud, here's that video. ua-cam.com/video/ZPoyyAUc6ms/v-deo.html
I've got 5 Mustangs, 3 efi 2 carb.. carb is better to me 😬
Cold cold starts suck compared to efi but I don't drive them in the winter months anyway.
Enjoyed your video I'm eventually going to add a carburetor to my 93f150 4x4flareside
Awesome
This was absolutely an awesome video. I have to do this pretty soon on my fox and this really helped.👍🙏
Awesome man! Thank you. Good luck on yours.
Good video, I did this too. You can grab those two wires further back at the two small round connectors behind the drivers side strut tower, this allows you to remove the whole engine harness. Thanks!
Thank you. Yea I know, we were just have some anxiety cutting it all out right then. I left it were someone could go back, worse-case senario. I might end up doing it later though.
@@HiRevzMedia don’t have to cut anything. The main engine harness comes out nicely. The two connectors I’m talking about come out of the firewall behind the driver side tower. You can get oil pressure and coolant temp wires from there. It really cleans the engine bay up. :)
It’s nice to see somebody put up a simple video with all the basic steps of the swap. Again, nice work! My 87GT is slightly quicker since the swap. I’m decent with carbs so that helps too!!
@Buck_em_Garage ahh, ok man, thank you. I will look into that then.
My car is definitely faster now also. It can get plenty of air and fuel with the carb with little effort. I’ve got a few more videos to come also.
I appreciate the feedback also. Every video I found before this was just people telling about what they did and not showing it. I tried to do this the simplest and cheapest way possible.
I’m sick of my efi troubles too. I’m acquiring parts to swap my 95. 🤛🏼 it’d be different if I could hook a scan tool and check data but you can’t so I’m over it.
I put a megasquirt in my 95 and it's a nightmare getting it tuned. I'm going carb aswell. I have way to much in my motor and I can't get it to run right.
awesome video the electronic fuel injected cars and trucks gives too many problems diesel or gas powered vehicles hei distributor and carburetor is the way to go on a disel buy on that is old enough that it did not have a computer thats why i love my 1993 ford 7.3 diesel so much
wondering if that loose lower intake was causing issue with the efi (vacuum leak?)
The lower intake wasn’t loose. However, even if it was, it would stop the injectors from firing.
hey mate, i have a 1993 NC Fairlane Australian car, in the white connector there is a wire for the starter motor, did you have to mess around and rewire that in? cheers haha im trying to get my windsor roarin
What is the distributor model I am doing a 302 from a 1985 truck.
Great video! I love Howe clean it looks under the hood with all that crap gone! I’m getting ready to try this on a 4.2 in my f150 I’m sick of electrical problems ready to go back to old school, did your transmission work or did you get a aftermarket Tcm? Thanks
My trans is manual.
You stated that the distributor shaft is the long one, I ordered the 85 for steel gear and the shaft is shorter. Why the longer?
I'm wondering about that too.
So do your lines shake? Mine do sometimes..wondering if that is okay.
I've done the exact same thing and everything went with very well. But in park it runs great when I put it in the drive, it stumbles and dies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have a 2000 vw Mexican red
If I was running a msd box with a hei could I get rid of the harness but keep the wires for the oil and coolant,ac but cut everything else off. I would like to keep the stock tach but I’m not sure how
What is the red bracket thing called that he is useing for the throttle??
Link is in the description bud
Hi the tan wire is I should cut it and but it to the ground or shrinking it to ground
Will this work for a 88 f150 302
I’m doing some research to do this on my 92 f150 and was wondering if I had to mess with that connection to the distributor like you did or was that only because you upgraded to the msd
Why did you replace the msd distributor
What lower intake did you with buddy
Links in the description bud.
@@HiRevzMedia cool beans didn't think about looking... thanks bud
Definitely not the right fpr to use with an efi pump, regardless if you have a t or not.
Why go with a carburetor gas mileage going to suck
Not really
I get 10 with efi. Couldn’t get much worse😂
That's not going to work buddy I will be surprised if it does work
What’s not going to work?
