    I apologize for the long gaps between video uploads, I've been very busy these days with work and life in general.
    Here's another one for the retired fleet compilation playlist, a fleet that just sounds weird to say is retired, the 2009-2010 Orion VII Next Generation Fleet of buses, 1700-1799. I will eventually do one for NICE Bus in the near future.
    1700-1799 were the first Orion VII Next Generation CNGs ordered for Long Island Bus, replacing the remaining Cummins L10G fleet. 1714 was the first one to enter service on the N24. These buses were split between Mitchell Field Depot, and the now-defunct Rockville Centre Depot.
    These buses were powered by the Cummins ISL-G engine with an Allison B400R6 transmission.
    I hope you guys enjoy the video. Subscribe & stay tuned for more!!

    I can't BELIEVE these guys are going! I remember visiting New York in 2010, twice in 2017 and in 2021. I saw these buses on the streets everywhere in the city. I can't BELIEVE these buses are no more after 13 years. Where does the time go???😭

      I have said the same exact thing! It's so strange saying that these are all gone from service, especially after seeing them brand new in service. Time went by way too fast.

    Half the drivers at NICE liked these along with the Orion V CNGs, it feels very weird not seeing these on the roads of Nassau, parts of Suffolk and Queens anymore. However 1797 is being used as a training bus and it was spotted in New Hyde Park not too long ago, it was spotted around where the Q46 operates at

    I can't believe these buses are gone. I've pretty much seen them around for the entirety of my childhood. the HEVs wont be around for long either :(

      People hated them for the seats, but they were great for recordings, especially on the N20.

    Man my favorite fleet of Orion VII CNG NGs from NICE Bus. These were hated by many transit fanners. Mostly because of their seats and them being Next Gens in general. I honestly don't care for the Gillig BRTs so NICE been very dull ever since the retirement of these NGs.

    I still remember the very first #1700. Couldn't believe Long Island was getting low floor buses. The turning white LED lights were also cool especially in the night.

    The transmissions though hit harder than the xd40s and c40lfs

    Are they really that petty? CTA Kept their Nova LFS 2’s in service for 20! Hear me out! 20 years!? Well, sure they d40’s with foreheads didn’t last long.. but again, mechanically it was a good decision.

    • @ShaneAkACaitSith810
      @ShaneAkACaitSith810  Рік тому +2

      It's not about being petty.
      CNG buses have different requirements over diesels. CNGs(depending on the tanks) can run for 12, 15 or 20 years as per federal requirements. These had 15-year tanks, however, they also reached more than 500,000 miles in service, which is also a federal requirement as to when buses are forced to be retired from service.
      Diesels can run for many years as long as they don't hit the 500k miles mark.

      Federal law. Simple. I already said that. Especially since these were purchased with federal funds.
