- Today's virtual walking tour is a bit special. St. Peter's Basilica should be one of the wonders of the world. It contains so much art, history, and ornate tribute to God that it inspires some deep thoughts. While the scale goes beyond description. It's just something you have to experience.
We take a slow meander around the interior and talk about some of the basics but really, it could take a full day or more to fully explore. We then walk outside into St Peters Square. It's all part of Vatican City, a distinct nation unto itself.

Hello Henry. I know I'm the past we've talked about being able to experience a place alone versus sharing it with others, and I think in this case, what I think you can't experience here with the crowd is the acoustics of the basilica. I imagine walking alone through it would sound amazing, and I probably couldn't stop myself from yelling "echo!". Certain tonal qualities really appeal to me, and I bet the basilica has those qualities. Overall, a mind boggling place. Thank you. Hope all is well
Hi Tom, I can only imagine getting there before the crowds. It would be a profound experience I think. I can't remember if I mentioned it but I really was struck by a paradox of thoughts. On one hand, the astounding amount of wealth dedicated to this instead of towards alleviating human suffering seems a bit gross, but on the other, the sheer passion of the people who came together to create this beautiful monument to something greater than themselves is incredibly moving.
