I've never used my Lansky stones like that I probably woulda just used the clamp Especially on a knife that I didn't know what angle was on it already I'd wanna put my own angle on it Unless it just needed a stropping But , whatever works for you is fine
@@MAC-gx3ji I use the clamp more than I freehand sharpen. If I'm sharpening a knife with a thin blade like a tiny toothpick for example, I can't use the clamp because there is not enough blade to clamp onto. And if I do get it clamped on, the stones will rub the clamps jaws instead of the blade. That's why I wanted to show that you can sharpen free hand with the Lansky (if for some reason you need to).
