You answered comparable questions between the generations and left me at, waiting to see if the feature updates i really want are going to be in the 2023/5 or if i should pull the trigger on sites such as the one you showed.

This is just proof that Samsung hasn't improved the fold series much since the z fold 2
Human still have 4 limps and one head after thousands and millions of years.
It’s all a matter of perspective, on what “much” means.
On the outside, it’s 90% the same phone. It’ll totally work for all the same things.
It’s also drastically less durable and running an older, slower chip. It’ll do the same things, just less well and less reliably.

Thank you for sharing some really useful info, great great knowledge for me prior to Z Fold 5 launch. The price for a brand new current-gen foldable phone is REALLY scaring. But the design itself is REALLY fascinating. Quess a used, last gen or even last-last-gen (is that a word?) makes more sense.
Was looking for info as someone who got surprised at how cheap used ones are. Very well thought out and presented video, thank you! Was surprised when you mentioned you'd pick it over the Pixel 6A. Haven't tried either but I've heard great things about the Pixel 6A camera and it'll get updates till 2025 and security updates till 2027. While the Fold 2 won't be getting any further updates except for security updates till 2024, wonder if any custom ROMs will be made for it. And if bought used you'll probably want to look into a battery replacement soon if you're a power user. But hey, that large screen is tempting. Unfortunate that they added S Pen support on the Fold 3, wonder if there's any decent alternatives for this.
Mine's still good. Slight fractures appearing in the crease, sent it to Samsung to get a replacement in the last month of the warranty to maximise it's lifespan.
Keep waiting for a creaseless and fold flat device from Sammy but they don't appear to want my money yet.

I got lucky and got a used 200GB Fold3 here in Germany from Ebay for 500€ and it was in mint condition. There were ones as cheap as 300€ for the 128GB model. Funnily enough I bought it this way on advice from a UA-camr who also got it in mint condition. The owner said it was in the Samsung leather cover case the whole time it was used and that might be why it's in such good condition because it's a nightmare to use with that specific case at least in my opinion.
There wasn't any screen protector, but it might be better that way judging from the bubbles that tend to form on them which people speculate to be the cause of the many cracks since it puts pressure on the screen.
I used this device and trust me i started loving this phone, not only in 2023 Z fold2 will be a beast also in 2025. Fast chipset and a very useful bigger display is love.. i can speak for hours for this z fold2.. when it was launched, i was a future innovation.. i was an iphone user and really appreciated my decision to switch to samsung z fold then i used s22ultra. And now i am a big big big fan of samsung top end devices like fold and S series.. thousands of better features in samsung than Iphone but i will say just one "split screen" one of the most useful and productive features that i loved in s22 ultra and zfold2.
Don't forget about Samsung DEX, im using that right now on the Galazy Z Fold2
Got the Fold 5 as my first foldable and am gonna see how long it lasts. Glad to see normal people proving the durability of this 2nd gen model. Makes me feel good about my 5th gen device 😂
I bought the z fold 2 when it first came out. Still using it in 2024 and it works good but im eying up the S24 Ultra. Not sure if i can move away from this big screen or not though
Plese someone tell me where do i get good case for this phone, there are good ones for z fold 3 and 4 but almost not for fold 2

Tried a fold phone for a day. Much prefer a brick. Although I found a good purpose for it. As an electronics repair microscope. The high spec camera with long macro focal length and large screen make it ideal to find those tiny componenet problems.

As a ZFold 2 owner I totally agree with your observations. Sumsung not providing another software update is a killer for me. Spending $2000 for a phone and only receiving 2 years of software updates is unacceptable. When my z2 needs to be replaced I will NOT BE PURCHASING A SAMSUNG product. Another year I think of use, there will be plenty of other fold phones. One+ Open looks interesting. In the last 2 weeks alone two more foldable were reported coming to the US market. Good bye Samsung

I still have my samsung z fold 2 after 4 years, my only issue was the hinch because some day i drop it but was my fault, so you have to be careful with it but the phone is arock solid product very useful
Did you have any issues with the display at all? I’m looking forward to Fold 6 but worried how fragile the inner display is
@ggboss5065 I’ve seen Fold5 and Flip5 fail, so I wouldn’t think they just magically fixed it on the 6 without major design changes

You keep an ipad for years at work, I wouldn't bat an eye keeping that for years. Great phone, and much more functional even if you used it wifi dedicated.

Honestly I’m still using my zfold 2 while I’m having s22 ultra , I still love the specs and tablet type mode. I’m not upgrading it yet until fold have better camera and a pen build in

Fold 2 owner here and I totally concur. And here's the thing, outside of a fold user, no one and I mean no one can tell the difference between the fold 1-4. Folds are in class all by themselves.

Yea man same :) I'm a student and I saved 2 whole salaries for this, in a way I'm happy Samsung didn't change much for the 3,4,5 because that means the fold2 is still the future even 3y later :D I even still get asked about it by strangers sometimes
Just bought a s24 ultra as security updates will go in fall. This thing is still fine, I used it on a construction site for months. Way more durable than people make out.

Swappa is good. Just make sure to look at the pics and throughly read the description. Buy for your carrier, or just pick unlocked
Buying used folds sight unseen is kinda dangerous as you never know how they were treated, but here in Germany at least even a new fold2 shouldn't set you back much more than 600€ wich is still a really good price imo

Enjoying my fold 2 for pass three years now and not looking upgrade until the battery can no longer hold a charge.
is the middle part supposed to crack overtime by opening it alot?
It's not supposed to, but the screen protector might start lifting, looking like cracks. Simply remove and apply a new one to prevent actual cracking

It is not supposed to, but it can. Many variables in there, but least likely chance of damaging it by actually taking care of it. That said, the cable in the hinge can wear out over time and cause other issues. I'm working on a Fold3 video highlighting that, but yeah take care of your phone and hope for the best

I exported this 3 times, I gave up on the blank spot in the camera area. Final Cut Pro isn't the best sometimes
So let me ask you a question, I have this exact phone, and I try to make it my main phone over my iPhone because I wanted the big screen. But I notice a lot of people that were trying to contact me from their iPhones, this phone was missing more than half of those calls and text. my buddy has the fold three and has the exact same problem. Do you ever have people saying, hey, why didn’t you return my message, and you respond, I didn’t get a message from you?

@@rainerrain9689 I guess? I am not sure, never needed to use Ant+ but always know that ATT phones install it by default all the time.
And you're kind of disappointing not to know that Samsung also told everybody and we know how to do it now you can take the rear camera and turn it into your front facing camera on your fold

Hi. The battery on my z-fold2 5G just blew up. after 2 years and 3 months of use. I've read a lot about it, other people have it too, but Samsung doesn't want to fix it and participate in the price. It is a manufacturing defect. If they don't help me with this problem, I will never buy a Samsung product again, and I have a lot of them at home. The phone was not in the car or in hot places. At the same time, it happened to 3 people on the forum. Premium product and inflated battery, the internet is full of it. I am very disappointed. I have had many mobile phones, but this has never happened to me on any of them.

However, I've been demanding more mobile productivity and heavier multitasking lately so I'm currently eyeing for Samsung Fold phone. However the screen/hinge durability remains my biggest concern, given the steep asking price even in the used market. Would you please elaborate more on your advice, whether I should stick to my Note 20 Ultra or switch into a newer Fold 4, for example. Many thanks in advance!

Mine is still going strong. I'll only part ways with my $2k device for actual upgrades from the S Ultra series and a few quality of life improvements. A wider cover screen, embedded Bluetooth Spen, flagship cameras, and sub 1hr charging speeds is where Samsung needs to focus. Hopefully, Samsung gives the Z Fold 6 the Note series experience it deserves.
