I used the latest iphone for over a decade, I switched to midtier Android phones, and they are so much better than the most expensive iphones. I will undoubtedly try out the high tier Android in the near future.
It's rare to see a genuine "youtuber" these days, I really liked your video. The majority today are drama click baiting videos, this one is different. Stay like this! subbed
Yep i recently went from iphone 15p/m to fold 6. Listening to most reviews i was torn between the 2, but after going for it i fou d out i didn't miss apple. Z fold 6 is a great phone and glad i went for it.
Android gesture customization is amazing. Having gestures that work throughout the entire OS and app makes Android feel so much better than iOS. Swipe edge to go back is truly amazing.
I am soooo happy you posted this, I’ve been with Apple since Gen1 and I’m soooo tired of the limited personalization and being hounded for dollar after dollar just to enjoy something you’ve already paid out the ass for lol I am expecting my fold 5 next week and I really am a creature of habit so I think that’s why I’ve stayed so long with Apple so I was kind of wondering about what to expect going from Apple Head to Droid Head lol thanks for the video! I have been looking for someone to explain it clearly about the differences in the operating systems.❤😂
How'd it go? I'm an android guy through and through, but I currently have the 14 pro max because I was curious about it. There are some really big annoyances, mainly apple goading you into their services like you said. I'm probably going to get a fold 5 or maybe buy a refurbished fold 4 just to test the waters with foldables.
A refreshingly genuine video. Thank you! I went through a similar journey. The fold 5z is brilliant. I didnt realise you could make the calendar widgets more transparent - helps so much to see your wallpapers. The phone closed size is also good for single hand use with a better weight balance better than pro max which feels top heavy a little due to the camera module. Its painful to change but totally worth it like most things the journey makes you stronger. Keep up the good work 😊
I fell in love with the fold 4 last year and upgraded to the fold 5 fhis year. Still have my 13 PM and other apple products but I just reached for this to do my work, slide decks and media consumption. Even use the fold to do presentation and travel light without my MacBook. Hoping more innovations in Dex mode (which I feel is pretty cool) will bring more people to experience device convergence. Thanks for sharing!!
You made a good point about people being stuck in Apple ecosystem because terrible Android phones from the past like S3. (I had displeasure of using that thing back in the day, but glad I stuck with Android) Today's Android devices are nothing like that and work flawlessly. That being said MacBooks are now the best laptops out there. (They used to be terrible) It is funny how things have turned around.
I did this but sort of in reverse. I've always been on android and loved that you can do pretty much anything you want with it, but it always bugged me that iphone apps for things like my osmo pocket, zhiyun gimbals etc were always better in terms of features (one of the mobile gimbals didn't allow 4k recording through the app despite the phone being capable of it). So last time I upgraded, I went iphone and..... realised it was nothing more than a case of FOMO and I quickly missed the battery life of my Google Pixel. As you said, if you want a device that just works, iphone is great, but if you want something customisable and fun, Android all the way.
Thank you for the review! I’ve also been on iOS for over a decade, but it’s gotten boring, and Apple has been resting on their laurels lately. I’ve been extremely close to making the switch, just dreading moving everything over to another operating system.
"just dreading moving everything over to another operating system" I use iPhones and Androids daily, and installing my apps on a fresh install of Android or iOS is not difficult at all. Transferring over 2FA apps is a bit more difficult. TLDR: don't let Apple trick you into thinking it's hard. It's not difficult at all.
I literally thought the same thing today when I went in-store and held the Fold 5 for the first time, that I really surprisingly liked how slim the front screen is. I've always had android and like you, I always went the biggest I could with my small hands 😅 So I placed an order and I can't wait for mine to come in!
Thank you Emily, I love such videos, I was constipated for 5 days, after accidently clicking on your video and in 59 seconds my pain went. Thank you!!!!
I recently made the switch also. Was an android man, then iPhone, Andorid, iPhone and now back to Android with the Fold 5. I waited to see how they improved. Ieft samsung as I loved my Note phones but HATED getting the Exynos processors. Made us UK/EU people feel like second class citizens compared to the USA and the Snapdragon.. Thanks to your video I have installed Nova Launcher. I totally forgot about it. Keep producing great content and visiting CEX! hehe
I took the plunge 7 years ago and left android for iOS as everyone I know save about 2 people use it. I enjoyed iOS and iPhones make nice devices. But I simply couldn't stop thinking about the android experience. So now finally, after 7 years I find myself jumping ship from an iPhone 13 pro max to a pixel 8 pro instead of the iPhone 15 I was considering and once again I just have the excited feel I used to get years ago. Also got pixel buds pro and actually like them more than the airpods pro, especially with some of the google translate and assistant options features! I've been using onedrive on my android, iOS and windows devices the last few years so I just upload everything that matters to onedrive and it's available no matter what platform I use.
I'm really loving this channel so far. Definitely got my support. I have both iPhone and fold. The iPhone is for the friends that have apple, so i can stay in sync with them, but my fold is great for work, gaming. Video editing, watching videos, and more. It's an amazing phone, and i like the slim screen myself. Its alot easier to text to me. I have small hands myself, so i total understanding. Customizing on this phone is everything. I've always loved android for that, but they have gotten so much better over the years! By the way, this was a really great reviews and I love the fact you're not bashing apple. It's just made for people who prefer to have something a little more simple!
Love this video! I'm going to sub! You seem genuine and down to earth. I bought the z fold 5 today and I was extremely nervous about the switch but this made me feel so much better. Thank you! BTW I left my iPhone 14 pro max in the dust!
Currently switching over to android again after a few years because of this very fold model - found this extremely useful and your choice of content and direction and most importantly personal commentary has earned you another subscriber well.done.
Fantastic realistic account of switching from iOS to android. Having just done the same myself after being bores of paying so much for largely the same experience with every new device, I completely agree
Also if you were using a samsung laptop and using windows the samsung eco sytem works flawless just like apple. I also use gooe and one drive which works universal so all my stuff works everywhere not just icloud. File transfering from samsung is also native to windows which makes it very easy just plug and play. When combining eco systems things may not be as seamless but doable. But you can certsinly use all apple or samsung products within their respective companies and work seamlessly. I hate when people say i cant air drop my files from android to ios....well no shit but you can file share from samsung to samsung just like ios with air drop to ios. Welcome to the world outside the walled garden.
I really enjoyed the relaxed and easy going on approach an your review was really down to earth and I enjoyed the editing as well. Definitely liked and subscribed to your channel, looking forward to future reviews.
Coming from Android I find my 13 pro max a little boring. I couldn’t reply to messages while watching Netflix, UA-cam or when playing games which is a headache. Ios works but really stale and to be honest here at home I am using my android phone more. It’s narrow so easier to use and lighter too but when out with friends or family bacause of status I bring my iphone.
This is a great video, thank you. I’ve also been with iOS for 10 years. Went in to look at an iPhone 15 today and I had the exact same feeling. It’s so expensive, but what’s the actual difference? So I’m going to get the Galaxy fold 👍
This may be the best video I have ever seen on this topic. Great job! I’ve used both iOS and Android for years. I definitely find android and specifically, One UI, to be most useful to me. My family and most friends use iPhones and will likely never switch. I don’t even try to sway them. They are in that group that just don’t care. They want it to work and be something familiar to them. All things that I dislike about apple are the things they love. It’s good to have choices right? Thanks for the video!
I so want to come away from my iPhone and try a fold but I just love my Apple Watch ultra. I would never have thought a watch would keep me on a platform. Great vid 👍 I look forward to an update later in the year 😊
I did exactly the same as you. I thought the swap would be hell but it wasn't so bad. I do miss airdrop but I just take my usbc around now! Loving the fold 5 so much!
So glad I came across this video!!! I’m getting a new phone this weekend after using iPhones for the last 6 years, and have been torn between the fold or new iPhone. This video has definitely helped me decide which phone I’m going to get now! Sold in the galaxy fold!
The comment she made at the 9:10 mark is the number one reason it’ll be years before we see a foldable from Apple. And the same reason we haven’t seen split screen multitasking on iPhone. It will decrease the demand for the iPad. The iPad mini in particular
I loved how you conclude your review in general. TRUE, getting a new phone especially if it is expensive should be Christmas day! There has to be something new, something to get excited to using it and something to look forward on what improvements will be available on the next generation. And, that really summarized what Samsung folding phones can do on our daily lives (in terms of mobile phone technology). Already excited on what the 6th Gen can offer soon.
trying using swipe text it's amazing and will be really handy when using main screen text open text click on settings go down to swipe touch and click on it then change keyboard swipe controls swipe to type you will love it
Go into labs and you can do many of the short comings you mentioned. Screen rotating and resizing all apps. Lots of customizations. Also having more on the homescreen Taskbar and having 2 separate homescreens for each screen.
2:29.... Don't put all ur fingers inside the back green holder strip. Just put a couple or 3 with one or two out. I only put my middle finger and ring finger inside allowing me to hold it more comfortably. Having ur pink free for instance u can curl it under one of the bezels to keep phone even more secure. Also not having all ur fingers crammed inside there u can relax them more and have the phone hang instead of feeling like ur hand is locked inside.
I was deciding on whether to switch to iphone a few months ago, but I decided against that in favor of getting a fold. once you go fold you can't go back, using a bare phone just seems kinda limiting at that point. and when realizing there's no way to use a browser that isn't based on safari due to app store rules, and since I use Firefox with add-ons on my phone, I just cannot justify an iphone, that issue is that important to me.
The Z Fold 6 was just released. After watching your video I thought about switching. One month later, how's your Fold 5 going? Have you switched back? I love your content!
10:12 assuming you're using Nova Launcher Prime, go to Nova Settings and the ninth option down should be Notification Badges. Click on that and customised your 'numbers' badge to your hearts content... what size you want the badge containing the number to be, which corner of the app you want it to appear on, what colour background you want, what colour number your want... even how sharp you want the corners of your badge to be. If you like uniformity (or being told how things should be) - choose Apple. If you like to have a say in things, if you like to express yourself - always, always choose Android 👍
Thanks so much! It's great, especially with a mouse and keyboard. It's a little trickier if you're using the phone screen as a mouse pad, because you can't look at your hand and the screen at the same time. I can't believe my phone can actually do all this tbh!
Not sure if anyone's mentioned but if you want notification bubbles I think you would need nova prime, which is about $5. If you wanted to go that route. I enjoy the extra features with prime.
You are the only one literally on UA-cam that I’ve found helpful was wondering if I should go to fold 5 or iPhone 15 but with the complications people are having with iPhone 15 I’m going to try fold 5 got a good deal that comes with a case and the buds 2 pro so going to give it a shot thank you so much for the detailing and telling us what YOU enjoy because it seems most reviewers talk about the same thing which can get pretty un useful quick so thanks for the time you put in this video sub from me
You can set up the notification bubbles in nova. Go to the settings and notifications its right there. You can even sent them up as ios bubbles if you wish too
Wow. Same here. 12 year apple user but I’m obsessed with the F5. Does so much. Apple refuses to offer basic, useful software features. This phone is the epitome of tech, from a software n hardware standpoint. Every year apple offers so little n charges so much. iPhone 15 base will have 60hz n last years chip, insulting. Have 13 mini n the F5 cover screen will be fine for me. I will prob pull trigger on black Fri. Waiting to see pixel 8 n OnePlus open/fold. Great content. Peace.
This was a lovely review❤. I have the S22U and have been considering a Fold. May not upgrade as of yet but surely will in the near future to a foldable. Durability still scares me😅.
Great video!! Congrats on your new fold, same here I was user of iPhone BUT, since the fold came out, i switched (Fold 4) and is the best. Yes, you can get notification numbers on the icons with NOVA just go to the Nova settings, and there's Notification badges and you can choose the style of the notification you want to be able to get. Hope it helps!!
I am team phablet with the s23u. I dont use the folds because I typically have the tabs9u with me at all times for true tablet use. But the foldable are nice.
No, I am team S23 Ultra, why? Better camera, if I need to use a tablet I have my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and an iPad Pro, and the S23 Ultra has better cameras.
@@Emily_Lowrey that is the perfect size tablet. I went with the ultra because it replaced my laptop when I travel acts as a second display to my desktop and I do alot of art and it's the perfect size for all my sheet music for piano.
They are what got me to switch away from the iPhone. Still keep my Surface Duo 2 around as a backup, even though I've since upgraded to the Pixel Fold.
I’m happy that you are enjoying your android and Fold experience. Every time I leave a comment about some Apple users moving on to android they get offended lol like it’s impossible for one to leave IOS. I have always been team android but I do have Apple products I use as well. I just know I will never get an Apple phone as my main…if you are creative and love customization, you just can’t do it on Apple, like on android. Glad your having fun and I love your phone theme!!
Great video!! I have actually been an iOS user since the 3GS. Although I little hesitant to switch to a foldable (Pixel) was looking for another iOS user who made the switch
Very tempted by these foldable phones. I’m holding out till they are a bit more mainstream I think, possibly wait to see what apple does with the one they’ve been working on too. I only just switched from android to apple in 12th gen and really enjoy it. I use an android handheld for gaming though. Thanks for sharing your experience, I do have the fomo every time someone makes a video about these phones.
Nice video. I've just been playing with the Z Fold 5 too. First iPhone was a 3G so it's been a while! After trying numerous email clients because I had the same issues with random returning emails, I found the best was the Samsung email app. Seemed to sync the best with iCloud email and seems almost 'apple-like' in its simplicity (which is what I wanted from an email client). If you don't like it, then Spark was the second best I came across.
Actually a great video. I use an S23U. I have an iPhone for work, it remains my primary mostly due to iMessage. (and I do store all of my photos in iPhoto, even the Android ones). I do just love the way you approached this video though. Especially how you are now questioning the need for the iPad mini.
As a tech megalomaniac (working in big tech and loves it to death) neither me nor my colleagues can ever seem to understand the beef between random iPhone and Android users… iOS and Android are actually both at the core based on an OS called UNIX so like they’re basically the same 😂
True, but not at the same price and Apple is holding the Iphone back on feature when we know the Iphone can do more. Wouldn't you agree? I feel you are paying more for the hardware then the software.
Well yes... Both Apple and Google have slapped their own coat of paint over the exact same underlayer and mixed and matched along the way. Apple just chose to be much more dull with the color of paint chosen. @@stanleyhuston9416
Z Fold 5 Experience: Traded my iPhone 12 pro max in and haven't looked back. Truly the best foldable experience you can buy for your money. Hardware needs work in certain areas but coming from IOS, the king of software & ecosystem control, No other company can compare to Samsung and Apple. Samsung One UI is running laps around even Google rn. Foldable devices arent nothing new or special. Its what you can Do with Foldable Devices that make it unique. Samsung has poored all they can into this last form factor which is Peak for this series. Im stoked to have switched since ill be waiting for Apples Foldable iPad Mini for years to come. Samsung has done it again and I cant be any prouder of the feats they've conquered. Bow down to the King of Android & Foldables whether you like it or not 💯
Loved watching your video, very helpful and I too have been a apple user for 10 plus years and looking at getting a galaxy 5 fold. I was having a look at Tailscale to transfer between a Andriod phone and my Iphone and mac and I'm sorry to say didn't have any succes. The andriod phone wouldn't stay online and wasn't getting any notifications. Sad to say after trying back and forth for an hour we deleted the app on both devices. Other than that still excited about possibly changing to samsung for the first time in many years.😀
Thanks for that really good perspective. I have been with Apple for years as well. Really love the Fold 5 and very tempted, a lot of the offers run out just before the new iPhone launch do I wait or go for it🤔lots of things you mentioned were so useful.
Great video, and thank you so much for not cursing and having a potty mouth. That is a breath of fresh air.
God bless
Keep up the good work 😊
Thank you! 😁
Oh no I haven't checked my dji app yet 😅
@@Emily_Lowrey It'll be fine.......🤣
Thank you for the review! I’ve also been on iOS for over a decade, but it’s gotten boring, and Apple has been resting on their laurels lately. I’ve been extremely close to making the switch, just dreading moving everything over to another operating system.
"just dreading moving everything over to another operating system"
I use iPhones and Androids daily, and installing my apps on a fresh install of Android or iOS is not difficult at all. Transferring over 2FA apps is a bit more difficult.
TLDR: don't let Apple trick you into thinking it's hard. It's not difficult at all.
I changed to sansung after 15 yesterday using ios, and I love the zfold 5 great review
For gaming try using a 3rd party controller that goes around the phone
I am team android, because freedom also poweruser
Nice fresh take on this rather than tech numbers etc. Great video Thanks for sharing :-)
I love your content and was on the fence about switching until I watched this video.
It’s narrow so easier to use and lighter too but when out with friends or family bacause of status I bring my iphone.
this review and your personality + commentary were such a delight!! thank you for making this video!
You can "air drop" on Samsung as well
So glad I came across this video!!! I’m getting a new phone this weekend after using iPhones for the last 6 years, and have been torn between the fold or new iPhone. This video has definitely helped me decide which phone I’m going to get now! Sold in the galaxy fold!
It blows my mind how much you have customized your Android so shortly after getting it! iOS was holding you back lol
Fabulous review! Sorry if I missed this bit - what is the neon sign looking theme you have here? I’m completely in love with it
Linebit! It is a paid pack but peanuts and so pretty
@@Emily_Lowrey thank you so much!
I really enjoy your videos, even if they aren't about (dedicated) gaming devices!
Thanks so much 😁
The comment she made at the 9:10 mark is the number one reason it’ll be years before we see a foldable from Apple. And the same reason we haven’t seen split screen multitasking on iPhone. It will decrease the demand for the iPad. The iPad mini in particular
Love the ufo wallpaper! Were did u get it?
Foldable is the future.. great and honest review!!
Emily, I very much enjoy the front screen aspect ration experience as well. I also dumped iOS this time. Great video.
Do a video on how to get your theme and wallpaper
So love your waffling Emily. It’s my first time here and the algorithm’s led me to you greatly appreciate your style I’ve liked and subbed.
You can absolutely get numbered notifications for icons on Nova Launcher. It's in Nova Settings, Notification Badges, Choose a Style: Numeric Dots.
I just got the fold 6 and I agree. I can use one hand mode more efficiently
Awesome review! Your open mindedness is so refreshing! You're so positive and you just earned a brand new subscriber
The Z Fold 6 was just released. After watching your video I thought about switching.
One month later, how's your Fold 5 going?
Have you switched back?
I love your content!
Have link for that backgoud. Looks awesome
Greatest z fold 5 review when you are switching from iOS, and I watched a lot ! How is doing the Dex experience with the Rokid Max ?
Thanks so much! It's great, especially with a mouse and keyboard. It's a little trickier if you're using the phone screen as a mouse pad, because you can't look at your hand and the screen at the same time.
I can't believe my phone can actually do all this tbh!
That's a creative home screen. I'm the set it and ignore it type, but like most things concerning Android. Keep up the good work.
I think samsung has an app in goodlock that can force any app into full screen and can rotate any app or even force some apps into split screen
Awesome I'll look into that!
Can also customize how many apps show on screen with good lock as well
Enjoy your Fold 5! Watching this video from a Fold 3, sending love ❤
Not sure if anyone's mentioned but if you want notification bubbles I think you would need nova prime, which is about $5. If you wanted to go that route. I enjoy the extra features with prime.
I'm split between un-hooking from digital folly, and getting more of it. Scary. Good vid.
You are the only one literally on UA-cam that I’ve found helpful was wondering if I should go to fold 5 or iPhone 15 but with the complications people are having with iPhone 15 I’m going to try fold 5 got a good deal that comes with a case and the buds 2 pro so going to give it a shot thank you so much for the detailing and telling us what YOU enjoy because it seems most reviewers talk about the same thing which can get pretty un useful quick so thanks for the time you put in this video sub from me
On the fold 5 and I love it got the starter pack too can't wait for that to be delivered
You can set up the notification bubbles in nova. Go to the settings and notifications its right there. You can even sent them up as ios bubbles if you wish too
Welcome to the Folding family Emily. 😊😁🤗🎉👏
Wow.
Durability still scares me😅.
first video of yours I've seen and I subscribed. Really good video, Well done.
I agree with you on the front screen. I like that it is awesome that my thumb can reach across the screen
What a lovely video. I'm getting my Fold 5 in two days and an pretty excited.
If u use Google drive its fast to move anything for z fold to mac and other devices.
This is the kind of review we all need. Thank you for this!
What do you think? Are you Team Foldable?
I am team phablet with the s23u. I dont use the folds because I typically have the tabs9u with me at all times for true tablet use. But the foldable are nice.
No, I am team S23 Ultra, why? Better camera, if I need to use a tablet I have my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and an iPad Pro, and the S23 Ultra has better cameras.
@kaiichinose9590 excellent choices - I confess, I bought the tab 9 Plus (the middle sized one) since recording this video 😂
You presented the topic so well you convinced me to give the Z Fold 5 a go 🙂 cheers 🙂
Great honest review. Love it! Keep going
Got to say, I also wait for Apple take on foldable. But in the meantime, I am gonna get zfold5
I switched last year and hated it. Screen protector has already detached a year in
Thank you for this video! Very helpful since I'm considering the Fold 6. I've been driving IOS since iPhone 4!! 🙂
Great video, after 7 years of using iphone I got a Flip5 and it's great, I wanted something more pocket friendly with all android perks ... 😊
As a tech megalomaniac (working in big tech and loves it to death) neither me nor my colleagues can ever seem to understand the beef between random iPhone and Android users… iOS and Android are actually both at the core based on an OS called UNIX so like they’re basically the same 😂
hmm... technically true ofc but philosophically (used for want of a better word) they are worlds apart
I just made my switch too 2 weeks ago, no regrets, I love my z fold 5 ❤❤❤
I have an iMac so my passwords will be on that if I ever need to find some. How do you find the battery life compared to your iPhone. I have the 13 pro max and the battery is pretty good still.
Hey I love the genuine review this style and authenticity is exactly what I was looking for! If youve seen anything about ios 18 how do you feel now after the new customization features of the upcoming update?
Same thing here. Ditch the iphone for the fold 5 and it's great switch
