Where have the ghosts gone? After the demolition... Maybe they are waiting for the construction of a new building? Great video! Another episode, which you might like to do... It could be: Aokigahara Forest on Mount Fuji, famous place of suicides.
Have a late happy new year :). Exciting episode. I have not heard of this movie. The hype must have missed me somehow. But I bet I will watch this movie through my fingers as well XD.
Nice video, only thing i missed is a couple of soundbits from the movie thrown into the video in-between your excellent commentary. Hearing the people panic and what not helps me recognize how serious the different situations are the cast finds themselves in. Kind regards and keep it up.
When I showed this to my wife she was balled up in the corner of the couch with her hands over her face and repeatedly asking me “why the fuck are you doing this to me?!” One of our favs
i hadn't heard of this film before watching the intro to this video so I paused and went to watch. have you heard of the 2011 film Grave Encounters? there are a bunch of similarities to Gonjiam Haunted Asylum
@@whatthehorror in 1999 I put up a website called "Highbrow Horror." That was before UA-cam. Did not keep it going, but had some fun. Have you seen The Changeling, with George C. Scott?
its too bad nobody bought the place and turned it into a haunted house! sure would've been a lot more fun than just destroying the place and letting all that backstory go to waste
I'm sure there's nothing paranormal *in real life*. But in the movie hell yeah. Not necessarily ghosts tho, it seemed way more dangerous than simple ghosts, something more along the line of "the entrance of hell" since the possessions and the space-time distortions
Was so excited to watch this!!! I lived in Korea for 10 years and of course got SUPER into Asian horror. This is a found footage GEM and I appreciate you covering it. Great video as always. 🫶
I first saw u when u Collabed with CZS world. I knew at that instant I found a gem. Really enjoying ur videos. Content is excellent and upto point. Please please change ur setup for lighting the reflection in ur glasses are highly distracting and setting the thriller/suspense mood off . Btw cool galsses
I'm a big fan of k horror but not heard of this one, thanks for the recommendation. Did you ever see the original juon the grudge, not the usa remake? Honestly, it's like ringu times a thousand, absolutely terrifying. At one point I couldn't even get past the dvd menu. Random recommendation for january- kevin williamsons new pandemic horror sick looks very good
I've seen the American Grudge but I've never been able to bring myself to watch Ju-on. I sometimes think I will for the channel but then I decide I'm too scared to lol.
While i appreciate the coverage. I would have liked it if you said at the beginning that the true story is based on nothing but finances and nobody actually died. So i didn't waste nearly 20 minutes of my life trying to figure out a simple fact.
One of the worst films I've ever watched, let alone horror films. I ruined my sleeping schedule for it too. Absolute waste of time. Good acting but the writing was awful

Honestly: There could ALWAYS be maltreatment at the psychiatric hospital. the wailing and all during the time it was still open could have easily been the patients that got "electro shock therapy" or something else. remember: the field of psychiatry was very different 30/40 years ago after all. Some treatments that were used back than, are considered malpractice or harmful to teh recovery of the patient nowadays. Sure, they maybe not be as bad as malpractice in psychiatric hospitals are shown on TV or film. But it's still a little bad. But I do not think that there was any INTENTIONAL malpractice going on at the hospital. Just treatments that later were classified as harmful. ^^ Also: The poor owner & especially teh director. ;n; They must have been suffering very much from the effects of these rumours... And the owner's son too... ;n;
Well the most scariest place in this world is exam hall 😢
Looking good! The quality of your videos is awesome. We really enjoy your content here in Texas. Keep ‘em coming! 🐲🐲
Thanks so much. I'm always working on improving my editing.
Finally! Someone else who has seen this movie! I loved when he asks whose camera is showing all of the other characters.
yasss i was waiting for another installment of the true stories! So glad you are back, its a little late but happy new year!!!
Aw thanks, happy belated new year to you too!! Hope you like the episode.
Yissss these are my favorite too! And I love your glasses!
So glad you like the truly horrors. And thanks, the glasses are new 😊
Ah I’ve been waiting for this one! You’re the best !
Aww thanks!!

I hope you enjoy it if you give it a try. Well worth a watch if you like K or J horror.
LMAO little bit of a similar set up as the best Halloween ever, Resurrection :) Great work as always Sarah!
Haha the BEST Halloween? Interesting. Thanks so much!
I really enjoy your video❤ Thank you for making it!
For me the movie felt like Silent Hill the way the crew got transported back into the hospital and those monsters

There are a few more sound bites in my newer episodes. I always take on board tips and do them if it's something I agree with and can do.
You are such an underrated UA-camr!
Aw, thank you so much!

Oh no, so does she like it now? Yeah it's pretty spooky. But some how I've managed to re watch it
@@whatthehorror oh she adores it and she handles it better now, but that first time was a doozy. Same thing happened with Last Shift.
For a minute there, it sounded a bit like you were describing the plot of Halloween Resurrection. Dangertainment 🔪🎃

@whatthehorror it's definitely a product of its time but it has some interesting plot points and a few good scares
I love this channel. So glad I found you!

If the building was constructed in the sixties, what was it used for before its service as an asylum?
I'm not sure, it was really hard to find info on it because of the translation issues. it would be interesting to know though
Great video and love the glasses!
Thanks

Great video! I'm sure in reality there was nothing paranormal going on, but it made for a great setting for the movie.
Thank you!
"there was nothing paranormal going on" ...did we see the same movie?? 😂

What if the building was demolished in '18 to keep the true secrets of Gonjiam from ever seeing the light of day?
Maybe

Please do the true stories behind Squid Game (it's so messed up)
I've not actually seen Squid Game. I didn't know it was based on a true story
Watch 1920 an indian horror film (don't mistake it with its sequel)
How did CNN conclude it as the most haunted place on the planet when the ghost is just a rumor?
clickbait writers dont get paid enough to fact check

The story wasn’t true the movie was based on children rumors of the asylum the closing was just rumor it was closed for a very lame reason.
Hereditary! All I have to Say!
Is that team real? Or just casting actors?
in the film? it's actors I believe
