      As soon as I remove the wheel bearings from my wife's car. One day soon she'll find her car on jack stands.

      I actually did but it was a pier fishing cart that I over engineered. Complete with front steering control arms and a 3ft tall vertical box at the rear with a slotted , locking lid to secure rods and reels in. I used it once before deciding it was too heavy and a waste of time . Had fun building it though

      I am pretty sure I bought 4 swivel bearing castors to do the same thing making a piano mover with a smaller height, cool thing though.

      the first few minutes had that feel, though the finished product was great. This wagon could hold so much more, the platform is the limiting factor. I have a pair of these bearings I was planning to use for a turntable to polish concrete, though now, I may build a comparable cart with a steel body and pneumatic tires for hauling crap in my shop!

    If I had the metal fabrication skills and tools, I would in a heartbeat. I would need one a little bigger though because my kids are in their 30's 🙂 Great Job. I'm sure anyone who wanted to make this could go to their local mechanic shop and ask them to get you some old hubs. They usually just through the old ones away or maybe scrap them.

    I thought this was going to be the creation of a project to demonstrate variable rate hubs or something. It wasn't until you started adding the wheels that I realized, "Oh... he's building a cart". GOOD JOB!!!!

  • @HBProductions.
    @HBProductions. Місяць тому +4

    Very cool project. I could totally see a variety of different uses for those hub bearings. It certainly facilitates/improves the turn radius capabilities on whatever you put this on rather than the typical 4-wheel set up. Imagine adding to this, a hydraulic pump system that could raise up and lower the bed platform with something heavy like cement bags or animal feed bags perhaps (items that take a toll on your back), minimizing the need to lift or strain your back at all (because not everyone lifts things the "proper" way). Sure, a wheel barrel works too, but the name of the game is work smarter, not harder.

    Your axle pivot bearings are 100x stronger than any cart needs, yet your wheels and bearings are half as strong as needed. We just used our radio flyer wagon. On Saturdays my brother and I picked up and delivered 880 local newspapers with that wagon.

    Дешевле в магазине готовую купить. В России и других республиках бывшего СССР - да, достойное изделие для внимания домашнего мастера. В таком исполнении эту тележку не нагрузить высоко, будет перевертыш. Задняя ось должна быть фиксированной. В моём исполнении из этих деталей вышло бы две тележки с возможностью прицепа одной к другой, съёмная рукоятка и с ограничителями на угол поворота или фиксацией в прямом направлении. Да и ступицы установил бы другими сторонами... А так: видео довольно приличное! Не жалею о просмотре и потраченном времени. Спасибо!

    In the late 1950's, my uncle (a Kentucky farmer) built a 4-wheel steer farm wagon . It tracked great behind a tractor, easily going through gates and tight turns. However, it was impossible to back up! I was just a kid, but still remember it vividly.

    Yes, I would decide to build one like this. I am currently working on a gorilla-style wagon on steroids. I made the first version strong but it was too heavy without even being loaded. I now have stripped it of some overkill and am hoping it will haul the weight and still be towable by hand. I made this to haul stuff like 2 cycle motors, washing machines, and every other item that can fit and be pulled manually across slightly rough and hilly terrain. I designed the steering the same way your steering is set up. It makes it much easier and quicker. I have tires off the front end of standard riding mowers. They work well but I think the taller the better. So at 8" now and hope to go with 13" and thinner. Also solid with aluminum rims. The weight adds up and as I mentioned I am now removing probably 20 lbs. It is fun and challenging. I have a mobility chair and am considering implementing that into this cart. But it looks like with the chair all stripped down it may be better to build off that rather than fabricate for the cart. Since the mobility set-up hauls 300lbs. I am also thinking about a powered cart with a seat or just turning it into a utility cart like a back seat or front seat driven with a flat bed at either end. Your build is very impressive. I like the hub design. They put a new meaning to tight controls for sure. And smoothest operation. Great build! Erock, Tulsa

    You get points for a great title that piques one’s curiosity. But I feel so stupid for watching this because I got sucked into having to “know how it works” when I have no idea “what” it is that I’m watching.
    Cute use of a connecting rod but I personally find a single front pivot to be more controllable for small wagons and sleds.

    They should seriously make pallet jacks with this kind of steering... it'd make loading pallets into bays so much easier with this kind of turning radius! I'm sure there's reasons they don't though- especially when considering how those jacks are put together, and that forklifts and other devices need to be able to plug in and lift the standard pallet- it'd probably take drastic redesigning which in the end is impractical.

      not so, they are press fitted together. PIA to rebuild so the hub gets replaced instead of just replacing the bearings and race.
