Bodycam DUI Arrest - Deputy Repeatedly Asks Drunk 18-Year-Old Woman to Put Her Pants On

- On November 30, 2022, Whatcom County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of an erratic driver. The reporting party also advised the dispatcher that the driver stopped in the middle of the road, took off her pants in a ditch, before driving off again. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft located the vehicle and relayed the information to deputies in the area. Deputy Osborn was first on scene and immediately noticed that the 18-year-old driver was wearing no pants or underwear. The woman goes through multiple mood swings over the course of the next 30 minutes. At one point, her mother arrives to the scene, but deputies ask her to leave and go pickup some pants for her daughter. She submits to a portable breath test (PBT) and the result was 0.197% BAC. The deputies eventually lose patience with the woman and she had to be extracted from the vehicle (still with no pants on). She is transported to the county jail where she submits to an evidential breath test (EBT). According to the police report, the result of the EBT is 0.191% BAC.

You also can't force someone to want to do rehab. You can force them go but you cannot make them change unless they want to. I've been on the receiving end of an alcoholic when younger (and dafter) and stayed way longer than I should, and you cannot make them change.

I’ve seen a few officers use that and the Karen’s usually back down quite a bit. They aren’t used to their aggression being thrown back at them at the same level and it throws them off. This little girl needs more help than her parents can give her. She’s very lucky to have a father who understands her struggles and wants to help her but this child needs therapy and a rehab unit who can deal with her problems. My daughter was an addict and after several years of therapy of failed rehabs we found Teen Challenge, it’s faith based year long rehabilitation. She is now 11 yrs clean and an amazing mom to my grandchildren. I pray she finds this help

It breaks my heart to hear an 18 year old is an alcoholic. I’m afraid she has a long road ahead of her. I’m assuming she’s faced some serious trauma in her short life to cause this. I had an alcoholic mom and it was devastating to witness every day of my life. I cared for her the last 3 years of her life. She passed away at 59. Slow and painful death cirrhosis of the liver is. Nobody ever has their first drink wanting this for themselves. I’m going to pray for her.

My father drank himself to death as well. At 28 years old he was the head of the maintainence department for an entire school system, and was making six figures in the early 90s. When he died in 2011, he was making $7.50 an hour working for a friend that took pity on him. He had more than 30 jobs in 20 years, and did not have a penny to his name. Unfortunately I never got to know him well enough to know what his childhood was like, but from what I have heard, it was bad. His father was an alcoholic as well. I also have a brother that is a recovering alcoholic, and he has numerous health issues from drinking. People do not understand how dangerous and destructive that alcohol is. I am sorry for your loss.
