This may be the most advanced trailer to a video game ever. The graphics, the animation, weather effects... i remember being mind blown when i first saw this.
@John Wayne red dead and last of us 2 had nice trailers but these are recent games... this trailer is actually the first time people actually saw next gen graphics and it was mind blowing back then

I'll never forget how it felt to be a 12 year old watching this trailer and keeping up to date with any news of it until Phantom Pain's release in 2015. Those were some nostalgic days.

I seriously can't think of any other game that does a cutscene like this and Phantom Pain do... Hell, I can't think of any really popular 3D animated movie/show/game that does it as good as this. I find this extremely groundbreaking.

Totally what I was thinking. Even better than actual real life movies, because you just can't have those angles with a real camera. Not to mention the prolonged take. That would be practically impossible in live action.

I like how Skull-face deliberately stops and stares down those dogs while they bark at him as he's walking past. I think it serves as a memorable introduction to his character.

This game (as short as it was) felt a lot more like the older metal gears i.e. infiltrating a high-security facility.
After watching Metal Gear survive's trailer i needed by force to see a good trailer!!

I like how people complain about this game being chopped off of the Phantom Pain when Kojima didn't even want Ground Zeroes to have a separate release in the first place and it was fans who pressured him into it. This is why you should never listen to fans too much.

It is funny how people say this game is 2 hours or this trailer is longer than the game. Some who say it have not even played it, they just say it because of reviews/speedrunners. The length of this game really depends how you play it, you should not go with the mainstream opinions of it.
GZ can give easily you fun for so many hours, but if you are just one of those players who play it through once fast, even just the main mission...then this is not for you. I've played this more than Infamous:SS, because this is more fun and exciting to me.

i downloaded my copy for 20 bucks, i don't see the problem with that price, still, i intend to get my money's worth until Phantom Pain comes
I bought it for 6.80 New and it's very fun. It obviously depends on how you play it because you have some missions (2 if you get the XOF patches) and 2 of those are filled with fan service and fun.

Yes, this is Big Boss, so there's no way it could be after MGS2.
This takes place directly after Peace Walker (1974) - which was ten years after MGS3.
Weird as this may sound, I love how they've pulled off old(er) Big Boss visually. He looks exactly inbetween Naked Snake in Peace Walker and Big Boss in MGS4

I remember waiting for this game since atleast summer of 8th grade going into highschool and being hype as fuck. The fact that V was big with a wider audience was a surprise since my classmates were really only familiar with the memes around the franchise like SNAAAKE and the alert sound effect

and note the sam fisher-esque night vision glow of the goggles and the first line being "kept you waiting, huh" which would be a brilliant way to get the fans excited and reassured again when it gets close to release and an english trailer is released and it will be Hayter saying that line. I also suspect if this is the case, he will voice BB in TPP too, 99% of the whole trailer's audio is music and BB has like 2 lines in the demo, could be any fill in VA to carry out the rouse
The only MGS games I've played is peace walker on my psp slim and ground zeroes on the ps4. Now that I have a pc and the definitive experience is like $6(phantom pain is $14 on steam for some reason)

The cool thing is that both the "Here's To You" song and the entire scene from the old when it starts playing is actually a near reenactment of the story behind the song. Even though I kinda feel gypped after playing the content, Kojima, you are one crazy ass reference guy and you sure know your stuff.

Kojima is the mastermind behind the MGS story but he actually had a lack of familiarity with programming games back when he started with Konami (i don't know if it's the case now) You can't give credits to him only; a game like this requires a huge team and lots of collaboration :D

This game is beginning of the phantom pain. You have to complete all the missions with higher ranking and collect all the tapes. For me this is the best MGS gameplay I ever played even with the short game. More flow gameplay and smooth control system

People who complain that it is 2 hours long, I beat MGS4 in around 3 hours for my Big Boss Emblem. Does that mean MGS4 is 3 hour game? Not to mention the cut in price to 29.99. It's not a game that will take a week to complete. But if the gameplay is fun enough, it just might be fun enough to explore every area fully. Which if you do that in MGS4 can make the game go from 3 hours to 6+ (without cut scenes)

i have had the chance to try out this game and i just could not believe my eyes, the gameplay felt so realistic. Maybe it is due to the fact how kojima approaches developing his games, and graphic is actually not the priority element. Even when I tried out snake eater demo i had the same feeling of being right in the action. However, Kojima games are for me really demanding and really hardcore, i hope i'll enjoy them in the future at least

The whole point of this is to ease us into the new gameplay stylings of the new Metal Gear while making it it's on stand alone experience. Think of this as the Tanker Chapter of this new game. I think this is a great idea because if this game is all you need, then don't buy the next part, simple as that.

They had it all perfected. The atmosphere, the characters the themes. Everything. How could kojima fuck TPP so bad is beyond my comprehension. Think of an 8-12 hours ground zeroes and throw in some two more bases. There. Perfection. But no. Kojima had to make us go through the garbage phantom pain is because the mainstream audience can't stand cutscenes. Just. Man, I'm just angry I didn't get the full potential ground zeroes presented us.
I love the phantom pain but ground zeroes just hit different. I like to think that if phantom pain was finished it might've been the game we were looking for.

By the way, this was supposed to be released after Peace Walker but it couldn't because of Metal Gear Rising. This game was fun and people forget the extra missions, oh and the trailer is the opening cutscene.

no one can imagine how excited i was when i first got this game, cuz i had no idea what this is about. it was planned to release phantom pain and ground zero in the same time, but because phantom pain's project is taking too long, they released ground zero first which's nothing but lousy missions that has nothing to do with the story. i only realized that AFTER i fucking bought it. when i finished the hostage rescue mission and revealed the end credits, it was such an epic disappointment. damn you kojima, i admit this guy is a real genius, but separating the two games wasn't really smart, i don't care how long phantom pain will take to be completed but don't give me a game that sounds so meaningless. he never came up with such a stupid idea ever since he let us control raiden instead of snake. ground zero is good i admit, but i really didn't like it, the gameplay, the story, the mechanics, everything was awesome, but this entire "mission selecting" thing had compromised the whole thing. good thing that the REAL action that is phantom pain will be released on ps3.

(1/2) The main platform for the MGS games used to be the PlayStation, which means the games were specifically developed and coded for PS2/ PS3 and then ported over to other systems. As we all know, MGS4 was programmed in such a unique way, that they couldn't port it over to the 360.

Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are 2 seperate games being released at 2 different times with one being a prequel to MGSV and the other being the epilogue.
