    The biggest disappointment I discovered in unboxing the Q3 43 is that the new lens hood will not accommodate a filter, which seems quite an oversight. While you can screw the supplied hood over a filter, it renders the macro ring inoperable.

      It's a shame that Leica even doesn't note it on the box or advertisement that you need a extra lens hood if you want to use a filter in all modes, including Macro mode.
      I had to find it in the small print of the manual.

    Thanks for your first impressions. Stumbled just over a small glitch: Compression only comes from field of view, so it makes no difference whether you use a longer focal length or crop in. With dof you are right, it scales with the crop factor. 😊

      Beat me to this question. Would be interested in what motivated this purchase for Phil given that he didn’t seem to enjoy Q cameras too much.

      Upcoming videos will follow with my experience with this 43 version.
      I had a quick shoot today (will share the pics and first experience probably tomorrow) and have to say, it’s really the Q I always wanted - because of the focal length.

    • @IntrovertAmateur
      @IntrovertAmateur  День тому

      I might sound critical in my previous videos about the Q cameras, because I didn’t want to add to the glorification of some other videos. In the end I wasn’t able (lagging the skill) to make the 28mm on the previous Qa work for me in my daily life. This one feels completely different and I love it.

      @@IntrovertAmateur that’s good to hear. This new lens combination is so attractive. On Hugh Brownstones show he also highlighted the MTF charts which indicate it’s closer to the SL summicron series (granted the charts are only a part of the evaluation) but it certainly seems compelling and in favor of the 43!

    I would be interested to see the difference/similarities between the 43mm lens on the Leica Q3 43 and the 40mmF2 lens on the Nikon Zf. Not only to the field of view but also the sharpness, depth of field at F2, its transition, the rendering,...

    • @marleenvandam6931
      @marleenvandam6931 День тому

      The Q3 is digital sharp. It simply doesn't have the charm of the M lenses! The 40/2 is less sharp and gives a nice classic rendering!

    Bought the q3 43 and was disappointed. Just like i was with the 28. The 43 is too tight in many indoor situations.. and i find the 28 too wide! Guess im a 35 guy. I now have two qs i dont want. Wife hates my guts.

      If you don't want them you can just give them to me jk. I can't afford a Leica so I'm using the griiix, but build quality is a problem.

    • @LittleOTheGamer
      @LittleOTheGamer 12 годин тому

      @@lunaRPG I am going to sell both... In all honesty Sony are the best in my opinion. The A7iv I had outperformed both of these qs. But plastic looking and uninspiring to use. Maybe I'm just a moaner.

  • @macmac6479

    Nearly bought it but stayed with the Z8/ZF because I own too many good lenses for them (Plena, Voigtländer 40/75mm)-but hold that thought...one should try Leica at least once and I may trade the ZF for this.

    • @IntrovertAmateur
      @IntrovertAmateur  День тому +1

      If you have the chance at least try it out at a Leica store or if you are lucky borrow it from a friend.
      The shooting experience is on Leica definitely slower and that has to fit your taste. Otherwise you will always have the feeling to pay way more for less.
      But if you like it, you will be rewarded with high build quality and an unique shooting experience (at least for the M System).
      Thank you very much for watching!

    Nice update. I think that minimum focus distance is a deal breaker for me, what’s the minimum distance in macro mode? I gotta step further back for food pics lol. On Adorama’s website, I a pic of the 43 with a Rode mic attached.

      Haha yes, I can understand that. Some would say you have 60MP to crop enough in, but that’s not the same. In macro it’s .27m

      Yes, unfortunately Leica prices keep most people away from experience these products, but perhaps you'll have an opportunity in the future to at least shoot with one for a session or two. I know I would borrow my cameras to you :)
