The parakeets I had before like to use a regular birdbath that is made for outside. I had it in the kitchen with rocks and marbles in it so they could move around in the water hopping from spot to spot they loved it. It was available to them all the time they went to it to drink and bathe.
I had in-cage baths for my zebra finches, but they never used the baths with the covers on them. Only if I put the bottom on the cage floor, but that was pretty messy. They were tame and usually took a bath in my cupped hands while water trickled in from the faucet. What they don’t like are the covers - hopefully Kiwi will be brave enough to use it. He’s almost going in there!
Most birds are afraid of covered objects that they have never seen. I tried for years to get my birds to use a covered bath & to this day I still haven't been successful. They love to splash & stretch out during their bath. My birds use a plastic rectangular pan with about an inch of water & play in it as long as it is available. Or they love the sink with the water sprayer on with just barely enough warmish water showering them. Go figure! You gotta love them. Simple always seems the best.
That is not the case here , otherwise they would never get into their nest right after you put iit n on the cage. Some budgies dont like water thats all.
Recalling some of my parakeets, they would have fussed at it, strongly advised you to get the offending object out of their cage at once. Then hours later, taken a dip in their drinking water. Gotta love them!
Kiwi is very interested and all the fluffing up looks like he knows what to do. I think it is like you said and he's not sure of the depth. I found with the last 2 budgies my family had neither would just dive in unless one of us had a finger in there too. It seems to reassure them that it is safe. Hope you made sure the water wasn't to cold. Pixel is like our last budgie. We got her stuff to play with and some she took to, other bits she was scared of them. One toy my mother got was a squeaky bird toy it was small and we thought she may talk to it. But she really didn't like it. The dog thought it was for him because he got all the squeaky toys. Mom tried to give it to the dog and the Budgie went mad! That's mine! But she wouldn't go near it. Funny animals.
Aww love their new baths! In time they will get used to them and they will use them. Kiwi probably sooner than Pixel and when Pixel sees Kiwi using it, he will get braver and try it out.☺️💚💙
our budgies would only have a bath if we held the bath to them.... then they were all for it and would jump right in and make sure we got wet along with them in the process. I'm pretty sure they would've liked us to hold the bath all day, but we made sure if they missed out too bad, they had to do it the hard way by having a bath in their cage.
My bird will be scared of new things in the cage. So I slowly introduce the new toy or thing to him. You'll have to let us know if Pixel for used to the new bird bath thing.
@@KiwiandPixel In the video, Kiwi was fluffing up his feathers as budgies do when taking a bath. So, I think it is only a matter of time for him. As to Pixel, he is not adventurous as Kiwi. So, he may or may not ever venture in. We had one budgie who was like Kiwi, and he loved to bathe in the spinach as it was being washed in the sink. We had another like Pixel who refused to bathe, even under the plastic bird fountain. So, he would get a spray bottle bath every Saturday morning when I would take his cage apart for a thorough cleaning.

My two budgies not interested so I tried a small indoor water fountain and they love it

How old are Kiwi and Pixel now?
Kiwi is 6, Pixel is 3.
@@KiwiandPixel oh wow, time flies!!
Hope you enjoy many more years with those beautiful birds!
Hopefully they don't think it's a water bowl😃🐦❤
Veramente belli!Molto interessanti.
Mine actually hate the bath but like to bath in the water dispenser-
We're waiting for the eventual addition of 'Birdbath' to their vocab
Wow

I meant if Pixel got used to the bird bath thing. Typo error, sorry.
Is the cage on the left the L01 or M01? I'm looking for a decent sized cage for a canary!
L01. Link in description.
@@KiwiandPixel Thanks!
Katie like is it okay to take care of a parakeet when it's sick
?
As kiwi knaws on the bath
Hi did Kiwi and Pixel ever get used to their baths? I have a new vision cage and I'm looking for a bath to go with it.
Nope! We recycled the plastic.
Where did you get your cages
I'm wondering why they need to be in separate cages. Do they fight? It doesn't seem like they do when they are out of the cage.
Pixel is territorial and pushes Kiwi around.
@@KiwiandPixel Funny how Kiwi seems to be the more extrovert and social yet Pixel is the conqueror
Awesome bird baths you guys!🖤💝 By the way is this your daughter or sister?😇🐦 I've seen kiwis mommy and daddy before but I don't recognize her sorry I😅
Should I stay or should I go?
Try adding some spinach or lettuce leaves to the baths.
We just tried this! So far kiwi stands on the ledge and eats the lettuce while Pixel remains terrified.

I don't see the point of it. When I had a bird he liked taking baths but in the sinks, where the water is dripping.
I tried something like one of those baths years ago and my bird was scared of it.
Hi could you please tell mi what the cage sizes are in this video please as I need 1 for 2 finches :)
L01 and M02
How didnyou train it so it does not fly and stays by you
They’re hand raised.
My budgie just died im sad :(
Sorry to hear that :( RIP
The Beige Sheep. Oh that’s so sad.😢 How old was he/she?
I am so so sorry. here for u if u need a buddy to talk to
Awww, I'm so sorry! I hope you find comfort in your happy memories and can someday open your heart to another budgie.
Give them some more time and they will bathe
Hello
Hi?
Budgie jacuzzi next. If they stay too long it's "chicken" for dinner.
Get a female budgie they are sad because they don't have girlfriend's
