This is soooo helpful. I hope you have a bunch of these videos! Thank you! I feel bad for all of the people who go out and buy budgies for their kids only to find out that it can literally take months for them to adjust to their new surroundings and grow to love them. It's not always that easy. I imagine that, often times, the birds get left in the cage and ignored because people get discouraged.

I rescued a budgie last weekend. Found it abandoned and couldn't bear to leave it by itself. Took it home, knew nothing about birds until then. Bought a nice big cage for it with seeds, a big branch, and a mirrored tub. Lots of learning for me to do.

Oh my goodness, how cute is she?! I'm going through this with a bird I rescued 7 weeks ago. He's still pretty scared of me, sigh. I'm hoping to learn a few pointers by someone like you who knows what they're doing. He's the second budgie I've had in a year. It took my first bird 5 whole months to even chirp or play, etc. I worked hard to tame him. He was from a pet store and came clipped. He finally came around and became a great little talker. Now, I'm starting all over with this bird. I've been trying to find his owner, but in all 7 weeks, I have found no one who is even looking for him. I just pray it's not going to take 5 months with this little guy too. I don't think he's used to being in a cage. He hates being in the cage and finds any way he can to escape, hence the reason that I am calling him Houdini for now.

I’m looking to get my third budgie soon! My current two get along well except for a few food related squabbles so I’m excited to introduce them to a new friend, stopping at 3 tho as even tho I have a massive flight cage I don’t want to over do it, great video!

This worked great! I got my budgie and he hadn’t moved at all in 24 hours. I followed your video and I actually got him to eat millet from me and he started looking around the cage, even climbed a bit after I had already taken my hand out of the cage.
I was kinda worried something was wrong.

Got my 3rd budgie yesterday and tamed him as soon as I brought him home. It took like 30 minutes. My second budgie I bought 2 months ago is somewhat tamed. My first budgie is not tamed and she is the same color as your yellow bird. Most of the time, she backs away. Not all the time. I just have them all in the same cage.

Idk if youll ever read this. But I found a budgie on the street a few days ago. I got him a smaller cage for like 3 days and felt bad. So now he has a flight cage. Im slowly learning I've never had a bird. So I should buy pellet and not just a seed mix? I've had him for a week now. He flies in his cage but is still very skittish, which is understandable since he doesn't really know us yet. I just want to do what's best for him. He likes it when I talk to him, sing and he likes listening to music. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd one so that he isn't alone. Just doing research because not sure how to proceed.

My 19-year-old cockatiel passed away recently unfortunately... but she loved anything that was stringy and she loved bells because she wanted to put her whole head inside of the bell. Why was that stringy toy not safe for the parakeet? 😊

The captions you put on the screen aren’t there long enough to read. Granted, I’m not a fast reader. But it was incredibly frustrating watching this video and attempting to read your subtitle boxes and they flash off the screen before I’m even half way through reading them. I hope you can take this as constructive criticism and on subsequent videos you will leave them up for way longer. Thank you!

First this bird came from a (I believe) neglectful environment, in which the bird could have gained sickness from the neglect so if she got the germs on her hand it could spread to her other birds. Second, This bird (after a few days) is showing signs of excitement and Budgie academy is going to give the bird a better cage with more toys, with the other birds. Third, These types of budgies are bred to be pets, if you put them in the wild, basically a death sentence
