Whoever said the drums were overplayed must’ve been someone loving mainstream music lol, they completely led the song, even though everyone else nailed the feeling of it. To this day this song has a drive I won’t forget
That guitar master-track has been missing for years, which is why they weren't present in the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games. Someone fucked up the handling of the master-tracks at some point.
Seem like the type of guys you would want to hang out with. No rock star attitude. Just music nerds like the rest of us playing in our basement. Kudos guys. Stay solid
I remember being floored with the technicality of this record. I was a hardcore kid that liked 7th Trumpet and Waken. I was like “wait this is A7X?” When I heard this on the radio. The whole album was on another level than the previous ones from a technical, tasteful, and songwriting standpoint.
Honestly watching these breakdowns makes me appreciate and love their songs even more, just hearing those singled out components of the songs is amazing, hearing their dedication and efforts put into these songs, it’s almost magical for me❤️
Its so amazing to see that the video clips from back then of Jimmy and everybody still exist! Bat Country is such a perfect song from songwriting perspective imo, everything fits so well together and the song just grooves from start to end. Typical A7X ingeniousness! Also Matt noticing that some guitar tracks are missing shows how involved he is
Chapter Four is bound to get one. There’s at least one song like it on every record, so it’s a heavy influence on their writing, plus it was a huge hit for concerts. Let’s hope it’s soon!
City of Evil is so good could listen to that album on repeat. Started my love for music and The Beast and the Harlot made me want to learn to play guitar
Jimmy always made jokes. But when it came time to play he was not distracted and always seemed to kill it. He was an awesome drummer. Brooks is good for A7X noe though since their songs have evolved and Brooks has helped give them their new tone.
14 years ago the best album ever was in the charts. 6/6/5 was epic and 14 years later Avenged Sevenfold makes bat country's breakdown, the song who brought me into real music and playing guitar (due to ssx on tour). The first time i was listening it and this SOLO will never be forgotten Thank you A7X
Truly a good tale you've told, but the best album was made 3\17\2. Actually it was originally 2001 but later re-released in 2002. I am speaking of the album known as... Sounding The Seventh Trumpet
I just imagined the idea of The Rev coming back as the Knife Master (this year is the 10th anniversary of him "never coming back!") and making a guest appearance to talk about Fiction since he's the only one that knew it existed before he gave it to them.
God... those fucking drum parts.. I’m at a loss for words. Not a year goes by that we don’t miss you, Jimmy. I hope you’re proud of what your best friends are doing. We love you.
Yeah, the wicked end is one of my all time favorites. From the solo to the re-intro is just absolutely epic. The part when the dueling guitars and shadows come in after the orchestra gives me chills every single time.
Thank you, I really needed to see the part at 4:50. Was never 100% sure what was happening there with all the craziness, now I can actually practice it lol
This is the song that introduced me to A7X. Even metal as a whole. If this song didn’t exist. I don’t know if I would have ever gotten into this amazing genre
Breakdown that leads into the solo is top class, I was always into metal-rock guitar music and that solo made me start playing guitar. 11 years later, and this solo is still top class
I left a lengthy comment last video. But this video drove it home on how great Bat Country truly is. Beautiful work and awesome breakdown on the singling out of the sections. #WelcomeToBatCountry
That solo is pretty tasty. And I honestly believe all the parts of the song gives you this bat vibe that definitely gave people an idea of who A7X were and put you guys on the map for a lot more people.
Don’t keep us from the hidden gold, give us some underrated ones! -the Wicked End -Natural Born Killer (PLEASE) -Sidewinder -Eternal Rest (The riffs give ANYONE chills) -Victim -Clairvoyant Disease -Angels -Fermi Paradox -Anything off STST -Tonight The World Dies You get the gist, we’ve been holding our breath for sidewinder forever!
I cannot wait for these guys to be back. Was unfortunate to get the shows cancelled last year but I KNOW it will be worth the wait. I got all my merch and am geared up and ready to go for these guys to come back. Going to see Korn and Alice and Chains together here in a couple months, need Ozzy back too...
Curious Discourse my mom, who doesn’t like this music whatsoever, was gonna take me to one of the shows that got cancelled. I can’t wait till they come back and I can go with her
Thank you for showing The Rev's few drum parts. Being a drummer first inspired by Jimmy, it was warming and awesome to see some of his glory acknowledged. Fuck yeah to more breakdowns.
Bat Country always had a place in my heart. I really listened it first on MTV Indonesia in 2005... I was 10 at that day and I ask my brother, "who's this?". And, wham! Became #1 fan since than.
Solo, duo, then the drum build build up/peak goes so F'n hard! Do a breakdown from Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet maybe? Some Radiant Eclipse maybe? Lol Nah but really, favorite band of all time. Awesome artist. Y'all are dynamite, keep putting them out man! Good vibes! Rip Rev
This is THE Avenged Sevenfold song. Before Afterlife and Nightmare, there was Bat Country. Also if Avenged had their own realm of existence it would be called Bat Country
Hey guys you know what's interesting at that DRUM TRACK, is that the DRUM ARRANGING has some VARIATIONS of the same GROOVE each time it loops... and at the begging of it there's a "jazzy hi-hat groove" too !!! it's very effective, I mean, it makes the song dynamic... and I know what you guys meant when you felt the lack of that GUITAR PART ... when you guys kinda "sang the missing GUITAR part" I totally understood how important is each note ... and that "post-credit scene ( with you guys singing LA LA LA LOVE )" was Fun...
Don't you ever think about how would have Avenged Sevenfold be like if The Rev was still alive its sad that's he's gone Rip Jimmy The Rev Sullivan your work and sound will live FoREVer in our hearts ❤
Yo guys from A7X thanks so much for making these breakdown videos... super fun to watch (especially when you show old clips in the studio). Also love the what you guys are doing at A7Xworld.com
Just as I thought there would be NO bands worthy of listening to in the true sense of metal... Y'all did a drive by and I wasn't paying attention... Until now. You have my attention.
So Waking The Fallen, City Of Evil and Self Titled songs are what first got me into a7x. Stopped listening for a little while, heard their first album (the best album known as Sounding The Seventh Trumpet) and started listening again. While the first albums my favorite, this album is amazing too.
The Rev's drumming was so unique and sporadic. I really miss his style! :( True Legend
They say all beauty must die, I say it just moves on. Jimmy was an amazing drummer, he's still with us in spirit and lives on through all of us.
I get the same vibe from Tino of Of Mice and Men. Give the band a try if you haven't already.
They truly are artist.
By far my favourite drummer
foREVer 🤘
Matt laughing at his voice from this era is giving me life.
Its weird for me, because his "old voice" is much better than "actual voice". And old voice made everything perfect.
@@Neston64 i think his voice during the Self Title and Nightmare album was his prime
Whoever said the drums were overplayed must’ve been someone loving mainstream music lol, they completely led the song, even though everyone else nailed the feeling of it. To this day this song has a drive I won’t forget
Yeah he was some dipshit who was or is on Kroq. LA’s “rock” station.
I love seeing that mid 2000s fashion in the clips lol
All the way to the 80s
I miss the 2000’s so bad. Still remember this video coming on MTV multiple times a day.
2:07 still gives me chills now 🙈🙈
I fucking love that solo so much. City of Evil had the best harmonies of any album ever!

“Didn’t just sound like wanking”
Thats it. Thats the one. I can die in peace now.
Jimmy is just being a drum god.
Please do afterlife.
Jimmy drum

Hearing the isolated drum tracks more and more really cements what a incredible one of a kind drummer he really was
The Rev looked so calm and relaxed while playing insane drum parts. What a legend. foREVer❤️
Sober*
Ahhhh it's so good to hear those Jimmy parts on their own. You guys rock for making amazing music and these awesome videos. Thanks!
They're so great!
Papa Gates coming in with the links to the unlisted videos, good shit hahaha
RMZrider12 I was curious why they weren’t showing up when I searched them lol
Were we even supposed to see this? lmao
Got this one from Syn's Facebook page lol
It went to the deathbat nation members too
Damn you dudes are lucky I was waiting for this to come out all week. Little did I know it was unlisted
This song is legend. Jimmy was such an amazing drummer. He’ll always be in our hearts.
RELEASE ALL OF JIMMYS DRUM TRACKS! THANKS ❤

The breakdown episodes are so amazing and are truly the best ever!!!!
That guitar master-track has been missing for years, which is why they weren't present in the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games.
Someone fucked up the handling of the master-tracks at some point.
Was thinking the same thing!
But the song was in GH: Warriors of Rock :0 did they re-record the missing track or something? Or maybe it was missing and I just didn't notice lol
Bubbles The Tactician it is missing, they placed the unison bends you hear at the beginning of the solo instead.
@@Stateoregano034 ohh wow!! I never caught that, I'm gonna check it out; thanks for letting me know!
@@Stateoregano034 holy crap, I just listened to it, how did I never notice that?

Shadows is so well spoken...these videos have all been totally gold...all the guys seems cool as fuck and are great musicians and song writers!
Yay! Brian sings at the end! Always a treat to hear him sing! 😊
Hearing The Rev isolated on this song is just awesome
So much talent in each track - all pulled together into the perfect song. Love these breakdowns - thank you!
Thanks for all Avenged Sevenfold, your songs are still perfect a few years later.. NOW, A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN PLEAAASE
They just did a little piece of heaven yesterday
I wish M Shadows would comment more on his vocal technique since it has been changing a lot with every new album
Please do "Sidewinder", "Second Heartbeat" and/or "Chapter Four"
I second Second Heartbeat
Yeah those and Turn The Other Way. Even though that might never happen...

This song (specifically the solo) was what introduced me to Avenged and ever since I heard it I have idolized Gates and Zach
