I love Maryland. I lived there for over 42 years and enjoyed every moment. The Spring and Fall are the best part of the year in Maryland. I loved being able to function between Baltimore and Washington, DC . I also like the various foods that you can experience in thus state. I just love Maryland. Lived in Ellicott City, Md.
Anyone coming from where I live, here in Hawaii, would be pleasantly surprised by the average home prices in Maryland. Here the average is $835,000 and climbing. The median is over $1,000,000.
As someone who's lived in many states, Maryland surprisingly has some of the better drivers in the country. They're not good, that's just a testament to how bad drivers have gotten across the country
The humidity is something else during the summer. Right now it is 86 degrees F and it feels like it's 95 to me because of the humidity. We haven't had to shovel snow for 2 years straight.
Worse thing about MD is the temperatures. I lived there from 1974 to 2008. The temperatures are deceiving. Don't pay attention to the temp. pay attention to what it "FEELS LIKE". In winter they will say it's 35 degrees but with the "windchill factor" it , "FEELS LIKE, 25 degrees. In the summer they will say it is 87 degrees but with the humidity it "FEELS LIKE" 102 degrees. lol Also winter drags on and seasonal depression by February is a real thing. Instead of April showers bring May flowers, it is more like May showers bring June flowers. If you are from a gulf state, beware of the ocean water in June. It is warm outside but the water in Ocean City is still very cold. I'm a gulf of Mexico baby and grew up swimming in clear water beach so that June water is brutal in MD. I live in TN now. This state has shorter winter and while temperatures on the news may appear to be close to as cold, we don't have the same kind of "wind chill" factor. not to mention winter is so much shorter. Summer's are just as hot, with high humidity and the same bug problem.
Really, there are critters everywhere. Maryland's environment is mostly healthy and clean, so there will be critters. I've lived here all my adult life, over 60 years and the worst I experienced is, indeed, mosquitos and a little repellent takes care of them. I love Maryland, one of the easiest places to live in with parks that don't charge an entrance fee, public beaches. mountains to climb and rivers and the Chesapeak Bay to hike along or boat on.
I am from the Washington DC area and I currently live in Germantown, Maryland however I did live in Dallas, Texas back in 2015 for 5 months and I miss it and you are correct the home prices are high here in Maryland especially in the areas that are not worth the price so as much as Luv my hometown of the DMV Texas definitely has cheaper homes even in a major city like Dallas, Texas and I am highly considering moving back to Dallas, Texas.
And this has been one of coolest summers in years lol. Usually late July and early august stays in the high 90s with really high humidity. I've lived in Maryland for 35 years, and this is probably the coolest average temps through summer I can remember period. Also its worth noting you left out the eastern shore when talking about city life... The majority of the eastern shore is rural, not even any interstate highways over on this side of the bay.
I'm from Central CA and we moved to MD two years ago. The bugs here in the summer season is out of control lol... Last year I found out that MD summer is their thunderstorms season ⚡🌩🌦😆🥴😰⚡🌦 I miss CA weather🏖🏕☀️🌊 Great video btw.
This State where I live, is good only for medium high class, high class people. Extremely high the cost of living here. Best seasons are fall and spring, you are right. There's not much to do here, (personal point of view), pretty boring state, rural.
As far as it being "crowded", you totally ignored the Eastern Shore and Western MD, where you don't have the population overload you get in Baltimore/DC. . . . Don't like OC crowds, don't go to Delaware, go south of OC to Assateague Island!!!
I don't think that the median home price in Baltimore County is nearly that high. I know that the median home price in Baltimore City is just under 200K, but there are a lot of rough areas that bring down the overall median price. According to Redfin the median sale price in Baltimore County is 320K, and that's during the height of the current affordability crisis. There are some parts of the county that are really expensive like Towson, Lutherville and places north of there, but there are also places in that are extremely affordable like Essex and Dundalk where I routinely see homes listed in the 200K range (you may have to pay more for flood insurance in those areas though because they're so close to the water). Luckily, Baltimore is still pretty much a blue collar city with blue collar home prices.
I don't disagree with you. Medians and averages are tough to go by. The more expensive parts of Baltimore, like the areas up 83 really drive that figure up. And Baltimore County is so big. If you are serious about moving to Baltimore County, it is very helpful to look at stats more specific to the exact area or zip you want to be in.
I live in Ocean City Maryland. I don't get what you're trying to say about the commute or that the beach isn't near here, near from where? I walk out to the beach. Yes, I know everybody doesn't have that luxury, but my point is, it's in Maryland which goes against what, I assumed, your objective on this video is talking about. Perhaps your title should read, "Avoid Baltimore Maryland, [unless you can handle these things]. Am I missing something?
There is really not a lot. I think I've just had a little bad luck when it comes to the snakes 😂 If you'd like to chat about renting/buying, im available at 410.428.5216

I subscribe to your channel and then. enjoyed this video. Why did you not include Cumberland in discussing areas in Maryland, the cost of living in Cumberland is very low. and the mountains are very beautiful. You can purchase a home in Cumberland for less than $100,000. I would think you being a realtor would point. to point that out.
Thanks for watching and for your comment! I focus on Central Maryland with my channel. Cumberland is about 2 hours away from greater Baltimore so it's not an area I get a lot of people asking about. And since it's so far I don't know much about it :)

On the Eastern Shore Kent Island, we did not get any cicadas. Was excellent. Also, you forgot that Maryland is a Democrat controlled state, so pick a good county to survive it. ✌️
Baltimore City is a cancer for the whole state because that crime doesn't just stay in the city, I grew up in Harford County, once they started putting in section 8, that was the beginning of the end and we got a bunch of useless thugs. I left MD, my advice is don't move there because the crime is bad, and the state is crazy expensive.

Thanks so much for your reply! PG County often gets overlooked because it borders DC. PG is the go-to county when criminals are running from the police in DC. The DC sniper came to Bowie's Middle School was the site the sniper chose to shoot at kids. PG isn't Montgomery County or Anne Arundel County, those places get the most positive airplay.
haha very true. Not a stand your ground state and purchase of handguns requires a "HQL." I believe there is a 10 day waiting period on handguns but long guns are cash and carry.
@@livinginmaryland7837 There is quite a lot more too. Such as only being able to buy handguns on the approved list, bans on many long guns as well, no building your own, the laws on transporting your firearms, purchase limits, magazine limits, ect..

Usually we have four seasons, but lately winter is more like a late fall with very little snow.
I moved to MD nearly 28 years ago, and I love it
Great!!! I'm ready for the move
Don't forget the worst drivers in the country! Turn signals are not a thing here. Lanes are optional. Double yellow lines are just a suggestion.
