    I really do Love Maryland, as a child (on many king out of State journeys) i used to tell my Mom that I can always tell when we are back in MD just by looking at the trees.

    Moved to Maryland from Los Angeles and I can say this state has been a blessing for me . If you don't have a job in MD it's because you don't want to work. I've been blessed with opportunities here beyond my expectation. I love the weather . You know how ridiculous people look in California wearing a winter hat and jacket when it's 60 degrees . Lol

    you could add that the weather is so crazy because we are up against the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. We are close enough to the south to get unreal heat and humidity sometimes, and close enough to the Great Lakes that we can get the "lake" effect snow. You missed our signature weather statement. "If you don't like the weather here, wait a minute." You touched on high taxes. We get tremendous services for these taxes. Maryland receives more $$$, per capita than any other state from the federal government.(we also pay the most federal taxes). You also failed to mention that because of the federal government and the Port of Baltimore, our economy is almost recession proof. No, Maryland is not perfect, but I wouldn't live anywhere else.

    I remember one day in the 90s they were calling for a blizzard. At first we got a 2 hour delay. Then they closed schools for the day. It rained. -__- I grew up in Annapolis and yeah beach traffic on 50...I hope the cashless tolls help.

    Montgomery and Prince George’s county are in central Maryland. Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties are Southern Maryland.

    also a toll in somd which is 301 bridge/harry nice bridge into king george which is like $6 ... Maryland has a high cost of living esp in certain mid-northern md areas. but if compairing to say California it may seem cheap. If maryland can tax or charge you for it they will. I have fam/friends in Cali who hate it but said theyll never come back to MD lol we are very expensive if strictly compairing to other west, mid west and southern states and becomes really noticable if you look at cost of a home vs other places. ive been here in somd my entire life (37 yrs next month) MANY people here also have to commute for work if they want a decent paying job. SoMd has perks though, not as congested, more land options, closer to the water for boats/fishing, and then hunting. Marylanders love those in particular. i wouldnt suggest living in b-more or outskirts of DC though for various reasons. Schools are OKAY still many good teachers but in recent years (over the last id say 10yrs at least) it has gone downhill and the pandemic surely hasnt helped. Mosquitos, spiders, snakes, deer and foxes are common where im at. humidity is the summer downfall lol winters are diff than when i was growing up wed get great snowfalls each year. now its hit or miss but we get REALLY cold yet eveey marylander laughs at how unpredictable temps are. we dont rely on the forecasts at all. if it says itll be 60 itll either be 50, 60 with high winds or be 70 with unexpected rain. today was 58 but its 30s tonight last week we had highs in the 30s lows in 20s 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤣 so to say the least its always something new. keep a jacket & umbrella in the car and in winter maybe a snow emergency kit (salt/kitty litter, bucket or shovel, ice scraper, bottled water and snack. it was my first "gift" my parents got me when i was 18 to go with my first car. sorry for the rant, but i enjoyed the video. dont forget we have tons of places ro site see and ma y national or state parks and even haunted areas to check out. my area has Point Lookout, Dr Mudd House etc 🙏❤🙏

      I’m debating between a move to Raleigh or a move to Howard County, MD. Can you tell me why you left NC for MD and how you feel about the two now that you’ve lived in both? Thank you in advance. 😊

    6% tax isn't bad, but my state doesn't tax groceries or clothing. Of course that wouldn't keep me from moving to MD, but it would take getting used to.

    The weather is so insane that it drives apartment dwellers nuts.
    I used to live in an older building in MoCo which could only run AC or heat, and could only switch once per season. Well, Montgomery County had a law, probably still on the books, I'm guessing, that requires a minimum temperature of 65 F in rental units. So our property manager wouldn't switch to AC until the middle of May some years, when upper floor residents were practically getting heat exhaustion, because the overnight lows were forecast to get down into, quelle horreur, the 50's. And the first moderately chilly night in September, like clockwork, bam, that's it, no more AC until next spring.
    To all you hothouse flowers in that building, there's this wonderful invention for cool but not cold nights. It's called BLANKETS!! 😡
    See, the windows in this building were so "energy efficient" (translation: heat trapping) that I once went an entire winter without ever running the heater--no exaggeration, not once--and it was still so stuffy in my unit that I would open the windows overnight when it was 20 degrees outside.
    I eventually relocated to Florida. Enough was enough.

    Hi Josh, I have lost of questions about moving to MD, what town is best, Howard county seems to be the best place, but what city/town?

    • @livinginmaryland7837
      @livinginmaryland7837  3 роки тому

      Hi Aryah. Howard county is very nice. Ellicott City is very nice as well as all of western Howard County. Feel free to give me a call anytime as well and I can give you more info :) 410-428-5216

      I don't know your $$$ situation, but I like Ellicott City. Columbia is OK. The best is smaller towns like West Friendship, or Dayton. North Laurel/Savage is another old mill town. This is where I live, I can be in south Baltimore or north D.C. in about 15 minutes. Big consideration here is location vs. travel time. Traffic can be horrible. Is it worth it to live on the Bay in Southern MD and sit in traffic 3 hrs a day? Or live in Carroll County and have a 2 hr. ride home every night? I choose to live in a more congested area, but I never spend more that 1 1/2 hrs. total, a day driving to/from work.(unless there's an accident on a major artery, then all bets are off)

      @@calliecooke1817 I love West Friendship and Dayton too, but western hoco is insanely expensive. Great schools as well out that way :)

    You can thank Martin O'Malley for raising the sales tax to 6%, and 9% for alcohol from 5%.
