GM will never make a $35,000 electric Camaro. If they tried to do that, it would end up being a $100,000 electric Camaro and they would lose $200,000 per vehicle.
Disagree with this - GM is making investments to set up a dedicated EV infrastructure and manufacturing. It will take them longer but they will get there.
I really hope the battle between EV Camaro, Charger, Mustang (NOT Mach-E) take off.
It would be nice if there was at least one EV for enthusiast. It’s a vacant space in the market.

Totally agree. Or a Dodge Challenger/Plymouth Cuda around 1970. These cars with the original design, maybe with a little modern touch but please, keep it with the original hardtop!

Someone needs to seriously consider making conversion kits for popular ICE cars & EV replicas & skate board with interchangeable fiber glass & carbon fiber body kits.

I have a 2018 yellow Chevy Camero SS1 convertible and I LOVE 💕 her! She has low miles cause I always drive my 2021 Model with FSD. I MAY buy the Chevy Camero EV if it comes out!
Big power electric motors in a sound resonating box so it sounds similar to a supercharger, channeled sound from electric motors, make them hum, and a 3 speed box to keep it at peak torque to enjoy some shifting with a big rev counter. It needs raw. Save money on heated seats and other peripheral crap. Basic interior with with well comfy seats. Those old springy types 😂 That would be my dream muscle car.
A huge front hood of these muscle cars makes ZERO sense since the point of the long hood was previously to house the ginormous, honkin' V8 and supercharger unit. If that engine is gone, the huge hood is not needed. If they are going to make a new car they need to start from scratch starting with the wheels and then design upward. They need to push the boundaries and not be afraid of making something look different. We don't need an ICE car with the engine tossed out and a couple batteries and motor thrown in. We need newly designed vehicles that are meant for electric drive with the proper body design to go with it.
It will weigh as much as the hummer........LMAO, government motors

A $35,000 electric Camaro would not be compatible with CEO pay compensation packages. So you might as well forget that thought. If it were produced as a 2025 model, you could probably get it for that price in 2030.
Do it GM. I would buy one, as I’m disgusted with the stupid pricing of premium electric vehicles, , I.e German manufacturers, so my Mercedes may be my last at this rate and I need something instead with a premium tilt where I don’t feel I’m being gouged.

A feel like a Camaro EV would sell fast if sold below $40K. But they won't make a lot of them because it will cost GM $80K to make them. Then of course, GM dealers would add a $20K premium on it.
Obviously, performance isn't dead with EV's. I would gratefully welcome a Camaro/Firebird EV, but it has to handle as well or better than the Gen-6. It would actually be a dream come true as I am so done with ICE performance cars and I was born before the Olds V8 and small blk Chevy came out.
GM could lead the domestic muscle charge again with a line of performance EV's from a hot hatch to the Vette, but Hyundai is there now, and the Challenger/Charger effort is well on its way. Get moving GM/Chevy.

But you've got to have those muscle car engine sound effects. Otherwise it just doesn't seem worth the nostalga.
I still don't know why they just don't stick a tesla coil on the outside, so you hear the electric current. Obviously have it installed and cover so to not get shocked. But it would give out noise.
For those who really need that, the Ioniq 5n might be suitable. That simulates all the bells and whistles of an ICE car, but the smell.

If the coil is out side of the car your safe you won't get electrocuted, the car body acts as a Faraday cage.
That's why you'll never hear about people being killed by getting struck by lightning while in a car.
As for smell, If you've never smelt electricity, It has a metallic smell as it burns the atmosphere(air) the electrons are traveling through which is approx 20% Oxygen & 80% Nitrogen on Earth, so the smell will vary depending on the air contents, don't go driving near sewerage treatment plants.
So basically, on Earth electricity smells like burnt Nitrogen gas, kind of a metallic fart smell.
Not exactly the best way to pick up chicks 😂

Electric vehicle prices continue to go off a cliff for Calendar Year 2024 in the USA. Oil and petrol prices are definitely starting to be impacted by this as well. An entirely new BEV from GM will only further increase this glut. Make no mistake Tesla is still dominant but yes because Tesla is still so dominant this continues to push prices lower ... and no longer just for pure play BEV but even pure play ICE platform prices are starting to go off a cliff. Should start heading to open outcry auction soon actually.
If they lose money on them, they won't make them in any sort of scale, just kind of PR compliance type crap. Legacy is just too deep in the holes they dug for themselves to climb out of. I used to hope they could do it but now I just see them as wasting resources that companies like Tesla, Rivian, Kia/Hyundai and the Chinese could use more wisely.
The electric Charger looks cool because it really does look like the 60s Charger. I guarantee the electric Camaro will not look at all like the 60s Camaro.
Electric Muscle cars. that pack some punch to compeat with the tesla model S - only sexy (the Tesla is a tear drop, not sexy, even thought the vids are concepts the Charger and Camero will be sexy, that's the brand).

I am glad I am not the only one wanting an electric sports coupe. But, I don’t really want a retro muscle car. I am thinking more like the C8 Corvette.
I would think GM would not make a Camaro that's faster than the Corvette, they would want to announce their top-tier EV Vette along with a slightly slower EV Camaro.
I love Corvettes, that's what I have be nice if there is an all EV.
I have a C7 Corvette and I would like it if t hey would make an all electric Corvette. Sure I will miss the V8 sound but I will get used to it. . Good job on the Camaro and Charger going that direction.

I think nobody cares how loud or stinky your car is as long as you can switch that off when driving in populated areas.
