I played Reload as my first P3 experience, and I personally loved Nyx’s battle. While I may have beat it first try, it was still very stressful, and I was terrified I would have to start over the whole thing. I think that if this fight was too challenging, I might not have beaten the game, and I play a ton of RPG’s. I can’t imagine how someone would feel with their first RPG being Persona 3 FES. This fight is definitely something special though, one of the most memorable final battles I have experienced.

Your experience right here is what I'm hoping the majority of people feel towards Reload Nyx. Persona 3 is very special to me so I'd hate for Newcomers to finish the game with a sour taste in their mouth. Thanks for sharing 🙌.

For Nyx’s voice, I personally prefer reload. I feel while it may be less threatening, he sounds like he is in such pain in the way he delivers lines. It adds more emotional depth to the fight that the original didn’t have imo

@@ReversedJrpgs I also got the vibe that Nyx is very reluctant and does not want to fight at all, yet must due to the unconscious desire of people preferring death over enduring hardship somehow forcing Nyx to regardless.

I'd say good call on playing FES recently even with Reload being a thing now. The majority would say otherwise, but FES has a number of advantages over Reload. Later down the line if you ever miss P3, give Reload a shot and it'll be a nice treat, having that you already finished the main course ;)

Great video, you brought a lot of points to the table and was a good watch, truly i hope the community creates a mod to change the background for the final boss fight
after all the last month we see EVERYTHING get greyscaled into apathy, there are almost no colors left by the end of january SO MUCH SO that even the dark hour looks devoid of color, so it makes sense for the final confrontation to take place on a barren, grey looking place

I finished Reload two days ago and I really expected a second phase after defeating Nyx, she went down too fast and too easily. i actually like the reload voice more. its like you can feel ryoji is still in there, miserable that he has to do this to his friends and cant stop it. nyx recites the arcana line not as an evil queen but someone who knows they're doing something awful but cant stop themself. i love that dynamic so much.
makes nyx less of a black and white evil villain and more like a force of nature that doesnt wish to harm you but knows what must be done, because death IS a part of nature.
I really liked the fight in reload. i wasnt super OP, i didnt have armageddon i just went in with my team and brawled it out. i didnt die but it was def a struggle. my theurgies only got her final phase to half hp and night queen and grim trancendance were giving me some issues. eventually fuuka charged heatrisered, aigis divekick of justice won us the day. I really enjoyed it and took a massive sigh of relief after i was done. I almost cried after seeing all my social links one last time then cried at the credits because holy hell this game is so amazing

I already knew about Nyx’s infamous difficulty before playing Reload but I never got to play P3 until reload so it was my first experience actually fighting Nyx.
I REALLY do wish the fight had been a lot harder though…
Just because Nyx has like 13 health bars doesn’t necessarily make it a hard boss fight, ESPECIALLY when you can easily OHKO every single phase and not even let Nyx get a single attack in.
It’s weird though because after playing 4 Golden and 5 Royal I was CERTAIN they’d actually make the soo called “impossible” battle against Nyx feel impossible. But ironically enough, it ended up being easier than all of them and even more embarrassingly, I think I had more trouble with the Musha Squad and The Shadow of the Void in the Monad Doors…

Reload was my first time through P3, and nyx wasn't all that difficult, but at that point I was fairly overleveled, so it didn't concern me. I feel like P3R is much more concerned with contrast than the original, for instance, in the original the dorm is already kinda gloomy, so the january changes don't feel all that drastic, but in reload it goes from a cozy home base to somewhere I actively hate being, similarly the FES nyx fight being hard takes away from the reveal of nyx's true overwhelming nature, and the drastic measures you take to seal nyx away are much more expected.

reload was my first persona 3 experience and have no fear, this is one of my absolute favorite final bosses of all time, although i dont know if something could top my absolute favorite which is sekiro's final boss, i love myself some challenge, but for a game like this, honestly im fine with the difficulty it was at, it also helps that i suck at making myself op, so i was severely underpowered and it provided me with challenge that took thought (for reference i did zero special summons which means only candeza, with my best personas being thoth oberon and godamn ara mitama who i had since the beginning, and i also brough aigis mitsuru and akihiko who i believed to be my best party members and landed the final blow with aigis's second theurgy which was thematic as hell) for story and character you already know it was incredible, with the setup and anticipation being immaculate, for music i already heard the default nyx theme and was a little disappointed at first but like they are so interchangeable it doesnt matter i just listen to the triple mix on yt which is the best version to one of the best osts of all time, and for design, bias alert, green is my favorite standard color so yeah i do actually prefer the reload version, although i think the neutering of backgrounds was unfortunate, and nyx themselves holy shit this might be my favorite boss design of any game, when i first saw it emerge and saw it had a face i was really fucking worried it would be some really goofy realistic face but when the face reveal happened i actually was like damn this is uncanny as hell it looks sick, and something im upset you didnt mention is the colors of nyx's main body because they look so fucking cool, i think im just a sucker for wings and nyx delivers so hard on that front, as well as having a sick ass greatsword, as for his voice, eh i think the old version sounds too robotic, and while im not the biggest dan of some line deliveries from aleks (for example he does some weird pauses in between words like in the clip you shared) but the voice itself i have no problems with, sorry for the terrible sentence formatting i never use periods for comments like this but yeah a little extra bonus that helped this fight is that i was playing around midnight so that definitely added to it, so yeah loved it to death, man this game brings me so much joy

I feel like the reason Atlus made it so easy is so that people wouldn't get so pissed off at the end to the point where they wouldn't enjoy the story. For me, I played Reload on Normal and as it was my first time ever playing a Persona game, it was a nice challenge for someone who's only other RPG is Yakuza. I feel like that's why they really want you to do New Game+ at the end, so that you can go back in and have fun at a higher difficulty since you don't really need to focus on the story anymore. I've looked at both FES' version, and Reload's versions and they both look enjoyable. I wouldn't say one is better than the other (mainly since I have only just started FES), but I feel like both have their old charm to it, and it shows how far that games has come.

Personally, I like Reload's Nyx Avatar fight better overall. I have not actually played the original myself, but I've watched a friend stream the whole of it, so I can say I've experienced it well enough to judge. The lack of Nyx Avatar's second action per turn is remedied by its damage output being significantly higher per hit in Reload (I did compare, though not down to the millimetre so to speak), not to mention Grim Transcendence in the final two phases letting it move like four times in that turn. Though I do admit that Reload's version is ultra-cheesable by using Theurgies, but that's not a problem with Nyx Avatar specifically.

7:23 that's one of the few things that I don't like about Reload, with so many quality of life improvement and aid for newcomer (theurgy, shift system, rewind, ect) but the dev didn't even bother to balance out the rest of the game (especially for the full moon and nyx boss fight) even in merciless difficulty most of the bosses in this game are a bit of a joke

Just the other day finished Reload for the first time and honestly? I struggled more against the reaper than NYX. It's funny coming from p5r (the only other peronsa game I've played) i found Reload to be overall a decent challenge and a fair step up from p5r in difficulty...and then NYX happened, like other people said i was ready for a second phase but nope that was it. Still though I will say despite that i still had a great time with the fight and i loved the spectacle of it, it truly does feel like the stacks have never been higher.

    • @ReversedJrpgs
      @ReversedJrpgs  3 місяці тому

Yeah comparatively Reload offers a slightly higher challenge than Royal does, but no where near enough. Most encounters still feel like a one sided beat down rather than a threatning scenario that requries strategic thinking. Its funny, cuz I remember beating Yaldabaoth for the first time and thinking "damn, Nyx was way better" and now Im beating Nyx in Reload and thinking "damn, wish I could fight Yaldabaoth again 🤣". Honestly, my favorite fight in the game has got to be the Hanged Man. Its got just the right amount of challenge.

The Reload voice more matches the original Japanese voice. I do agree with you that I liked the atmosphere better in the original and I wish there was a Merciless+ mode since the experience was better when Nyx beat the crap out of you. But I also understand why video games have been easing on difficulty, but I still want optimal modes that have that late 90s early 2000s difficulty curve.

As a newcomer to Persona 3 in general, aside from being spoiled for one specific story point near the end of the game. I will say I did really enjoy the Nyx bossfight, though almost purely due to memorable-ness as opposed to challenge. I found Nyx an easier boss than I thought they would be, considering how menacing they'd been built up to this point in the game, and honestly didn't have too much trouble with the boss due to my theurgies and the strageties I had employed for Nyx. The pure spectacle of fighting Death and swapping through all the arcana and trying to figure out their weaknesses throughout the 14 phases was amazing, the lead was amazing, and the cutscenes after the fight were great. While definitely seeming to lack the spectacle the original p3 games had, I never played those first, and while yeah it definitely would been preferable to have Nyx been like that for this remake, I will say what I got wasn't the worst thing in the world.

I finished Persona 3 Relaod about 2 weeks ago, and I decided that on my first playthrough, i was going to fight Nyx alone and trying my absolute best to not use theurgy. Which i did and i have to say that it was a pretty difficult boss fight that took me about an hour or two, but in the final phase I realized that I was impossible and I HAD to use theurgy if I wanted to win unless i wanted to sit there for another hour. So in the final phase I used scarlet havoc to beat Nyx and I was successful, but expected it to be a bit harder since I heard that Nyx in the original could inflict you with ailments. Yeh i haven't played reload yet but one of my favorite passtimes is watching others fight against nyx blind and i was... well disappointed how people who played reload had a much easier and less threatening time compared to thos who played the original, and they were just blazing through Nyx's phases with theurgys (or straight up grinded to a high enough level to get and use Armageddon on the last phase to cheeze it or accidentally killed em expecting a 9999 damage move not to kill).
Now i don't think Nyx should have been like very overwhelmingly difficult but i do believe they shouldn't have been this easy not just for challenge sake but for the spectacle as well and appreciate how well made the fight is ... or at leest was supposed to be.
I like some of the additional stuff theey added to the fight in reload like the extra dialogue and seeing Nyx evolve and grow stronger as the fight progresses (like how their sword gets shrouded in darkness like the movie) they did Nyx so good in that regard, but all in all failed to replicate challenge of the original which in turn (imo) hurts the spectacle, feeling of desperation, and seriousness of the fight.

I am probably the only one was hoping for Nyx to use all arcana during the fight as I wanted it to feel like a battle where no matter how many times you beat down Nyx he simply recovers and uses a new approach, with the final one being the Death Arcana.
I thought it was very fun...even though I enjoyed the combat in Tartarus so much that I had a Level 96 Satanus with no weaknesses and very deadly abilities to give you a vague idea. In other words, accidentally overleveled.
I do find it weird that they kept the ability for the Reaper to have multi-action turns.
I absolutely love Persona 3 Reload and am a fan of Atlas now and want to Platinum Persona 3 Reload on PS5. I think the only games that I managed to Platinum were Sonic Frontiers and The Order 1886 with latter having a very criminally underrated story. I have completed a lot of games on PS4 and PS5, just never Platinum'd.

And also I don’t know if anyone else agrees with me on this but I actually really like the green during the fight. Maybe it’ll just bc the og was on the ps2 and if they kept the white/black colors in Reload they could have made it look better, but I feel like Nyx stands out a lot more against the green. As I write this I do feel more like maybe the white could have worked with newer graphics but showing me the two of them side by side didn’t help your case in my opinion.
Unfortunately yeah, the fight was pretty easy. Personally I never found the og fight (well Portable’s fight in my case but whatever) to be that difficult but the length of the final phase was a bit anticlimactic. When I got there in Reload I figured it was due to me being like ten levels overleveled, which I still do think is part of it. I think unfortunately Atlus isn’t going to make a persona final boss that’s actually difficult so Reload’s Nyx difficulty was largely affected by that. In fairness, the fight is quite lengthy regardless of this so I kinda get it but the least they could do is make the late game fights significantly tougher on higher difficulties.

P3 Reload is my first Persona game, I had NO idea of the story, and overall it was a really cool fight!
Until, yeah, I was on for the spectacle and really thought it wouldn't work so I did Armagedon for fun on the last phase
It did look great, but it did also feel like it shouldn't have worked at all, like it makes Nyx lose so much presence and pressure

My first and only P3 experience was P3 portable. I absolutely loved the tension this game was building up the entire time and I can't stress this enough how unique the experience of this game was. I was constantly curious what would happen next to the extent that I worried that the game couldn't get any better or emotional, but it always did. Sadly, the Nyx battle was not as fascinating for me as you make it sound. Everything you say is obviously true, but what kinda ruined the experience for me was the tediousness of Tartarus (I also should say that I played the game on easy difficulty because I heard that jRPG's are really difficult and I never played any before). The late stages of the game, which for me consisted of pretty much just grinding, were so unenjoyable. I grinded so much because it was constantly stressed that the battle was pretty much impossible to win and I ended up over-prepared. I know I chose the easy difficulty, but for example Margaret's challenges were way harder than the entire Nyx fight (this could be because these challenges aren't mandatory unlike the main boss, but I still think it shouldn't be this way). Also, during the battle, I kinda counted Nyx as just another level of Tartarus instead of a final part of the game. I was obviously hyped as hell but it didn't hit as much as it was supposed to. Nevertheless I'm glad to hear that the whole thing looks different on harder difficulties because I'll be replaying the game anyway.
Sorry for the long comment : )

Thanks for sharing. Yeah I can definitely see this fight not being for everyone. An hour long encounter can either be interpreted positively as being Epic or Negatively as being a slog fest. The same can be said about exploring a 264 floor long tower lol.
Pretty sure Portables version of Nyx was also changed for the worse, not as bad as Reloads tho, but it's been a while so I can't really comment on him there.
Since I you're new to JRPGs, I will say that while Grinding is an option, Persona games don't really encourage it. If you're planning on playing the game again, my tip is avoid grinding and spend some time in the velvet room if you get stuck on a boss or something. Way more fun. Trust me ;).

@@ReversedJrpgs It's not as much about the length of the fight, but about the fact that I could beat her stage in like 3-4 turns and she then dealt me 60 damage : /. But I'm probably complaining that the game I set on easy was actually easy.
And thanks for the tip! I totally won't be going through the whole grind again. I think I ended up with only like 50% of persona compendium completed and now I kinda see it as a wasted potential :)

I only played reload and i fought NYX after spending 10 hours trying to beat 'liz (dont mock me I'm bad and didn't look tuto so i had to figure out all the rules of the fight) so i was super sad that i one shotted every phases, he couldn't even attack....The setup was fine and the last phase was super cool + the cutscene were insane. I think it is a great boss that just has a bad fight. Maybe i shouldn't have done liz prior to the fight because it is the real challenge or whatever... i think overall P3 has some bad scaling IMO 'liz is stupidly hard and NYX stupidly easy, some moon bosses had enormous amount of hp and so pour damage that it was just annoying and repetitive (I loved the game tho its one of my fav, no games are perfect even elden ring has those problems).

      @ReversedJrpgs  3 місяці тому +1

Lol don't sweat it, Liz is a nightmare to figure out. A perfect example of hard not equaling fun. She was originally made to be fought in NG+ so they definitely weren't expecting someone to beat her then fight Nyx for the first time lol. But then again, trust me, whether u beat Liz or not, Nyx in this game is a complete pushover. The recent persona games since P5 have all had problems with consistent difficulty scaling, hoping Atlus gets their shit together by P6.

In my opinion, even though it was my first time playing persona 3 as a whole. I honestly was more upset that they didn’t use 2d animation for nyx’s intro since I’ve watched some p3f videos before. And honestly I feel like 2d animation for most of the cutscenes would have just made the game better honestly. Not saying that the 3d animation is bad but I just prefer the 2d animations more.

Truee. I at least wanted scenes that were originally 2d to stay that way and have the 3d pre rendered animations to replace some other scenes like they did for chidoris death scene for example.

The problem I have with you thinking Nyx is too easy is that you played a lot of other SMT games. You even said that they made the original Nyx seem easier when you went back to that game.
Reload is rebalanced to make things way more convenient for the average player so the boss that you already said that you found to be not so bad after other smt games was made easier in the new release. So, even if the difficulty is adjusted, you found it too easy because you have played a lot of these games.
And, a boss designed like Nyx with all those phases and no checkpoints, would be more annoying to me than fun if Nyx was harder to fight.

I don't think your reaction comparison works, those are three completely different streamers. I am sure I could search around and find the opposite to those reactions for the same fights. People who think Persona 3 (original) is too easy and finding a completley different streamer who thinks Reload is too hard.
