Wow this is the best cargo trailer by far. Brother you did a amazing job what great ideas. The pull out kitchen is crazy I'd be proud to own that trailer it's the shit.
Nothing against the trailer, very nice.... but I couldn't stop trying to get a look at that Bronco! She looks in great shape! You must show her a lot of lovin'!!!
Hey Don. Excellent modifications. I tried to get several trailer manufacturers in south GA to spec build me a rolling frame but none were interested so when I came back from Afghanistan last Jan I started building mine from scratch. I opted for a 5x10 to roughly coincide with my Grand Cherokee size. I went with Torsion stub axles (independent suspension) that I bolted onto the frame for ease of field repair/ replacement and maximum ground clearance. I also opted for a "Max Coupler" multi- axis hitch for fluid articulation on the rough stuff. Hope to have it completed soon and get it field tested. I'll post video when I hit the trail.
Don E, You did a great job on that trailer! I love the pull out kitchen and now you got me thinking of doing the same thing. I am about to start my own conversion project to a 7x14 V-nose trailer. A BIG thumbs up.
fantastic kitchen idea. great design. the folding method you used is genius. I live over in the UK and we usually camp in a tent but haul all our gear in a 7ftx5ftx4ft trailer. I have been looking for a way to integrate our kitchen set up into our trailer and your video has gave me some great ideas. thanks for sharing
That is exactly the sort of videos I'm looking for somebody with imagination we can do something that's never been done. I appreciate your effort on that kitchen it is the most amazing slide-out kitchen where they were seen good luck for your future modifications and camping trips!
amazing how so many people are so creative when trying to live in a small space. cool idea for the slide out, many trailors have less counterspace then your slide out.
Really nice job. Well thought out. I never ceased to be amazed what guys can do on a limited budget and still get a really nice rig. You dont need to spend $20 grand to go camping!!
DUDE, Awesome build out. Very inspiring and I really love that you thought ahead so much when ordering your trailer. I have never seen one with the door on the angled nose and the entry door behind the axle. Also the extra width with the wheels tucked in. So sweet. Love the front garage and pull out kitchen. You are a mechanical genius.
You gave me a great idea with this. I'm having an enclosed trailer convertered to a camper and I'm building a slide out under my bed. Smaller than yours but it'll get the job done. Maybe I'll post it once the trailer gets completed.
I have built 4 camper trailers from cargo trailers and soon to build a 5th only because a trucker took out my 1 ton Dodge duly tow vehicle. So now I have a Dodge Durango a 2001, and have to downsize. I love your corner jacks. That's a great idea. The new trailer I'm getting only has the cheep scissor jacks and I didn't know what to do. You have the right idea and can keep them inside too. Love it love it. Thanks again.
You did a realy great job! I was travelling and living in my vw t3 syncro for nearly a year all over us an canada... from east to west an back and from key west to inuvik and prudoe bay... in the moment i'm thinking about building a new van with the experience of all the years travelling... in this idea of my new project is one of the most importend thinks to have a kitchen which i can use inside and outside... maybe u can give soe impressions of 4 years having a slide out kitchen and take a look over my draws... better to hear a "that dosn't work" than later on... So, maybe u check this once in while and see this... Greetz from Germany
How do y'll DO that?! You've managed to inc lude many items that individualize this camper van, including your son's sleeping "cave"; THIS, alone, is "top notch"! It's become his own "private" place/cave; i bet he LOVES IT. Kudos to you!!
Don, this kitchen is awesome, great job and extremely well thought out. Any ideas or suggestions on how to build something like this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Awesome job! Can you please post a few things? 1.) Site for ordering trailer 2.) Sink and stove - where did you get those/what brand? 3.) Where did you get the legs for the pull out? Thanks so much! Great ideas!
This video was the one that inspired me to build one for my self. I have a 12X7 I purchased brand new so I could have the man door at the rear of the trailer for probably the same reasons you did but I didn't think about installing a awning. If you could post a video on your awning it would be greatly appreciated.
To answer a few questions... The table legs have gone up a bunch in price since I purchased them, but it looks like you can get them HERE . I ordered the trailer from a place call Trailershowroom.com, but I'm not sure I would recommend them. I had to spend about 40 hrs worth of work fixing their mistakes. The walls came unglued, the welds around the windows were missing, and a couple pieces of floor had to be replaced because the gaps were too big to seal up. Use them at your own risk. The sink/stove were just bought off of ebay, and are SMEV/Dometic brand. There are some on there right now, but it's not worth linking, just search for "RV stove"/"RV sink". Hope that helps.
Why did you want to tuck the wheels up under the trailer instead of off to the side like they normally come? Doesn't that make your trailer kind of tippy and top heavy ? Also, I was curious how many inches extra you had it lifted. Ingenious ideas on your build!
Thanks for the comment - The primary reason for recessing the wheels/tires is so that the track width of the trailer would match my truck. When going off road, this is VERY important and will make a big difference in what you can pull the trailer over. This does make it slightly less stable of course, but the difference is pretty small considering where the weight is in an trailer/camper build like this. The center of gravity of the trailer is really low as there's nothing that isn't mounted to the floor (other than the walls themselves). I've had the trailer on almost 45deg slopes with no issues, but it is scary. The only lift I had on it was a spring over axle lift, so that would typically be around 3" of lift.
It did pretty well off road with the ground clearance and soft suspension it had. The only issue I ran into some times is that it was still a big box, and it took a lot of care to keep it out of trees since it doesn't narrow towards the top like the tow vehicle does. Also, it was pretty heavy at around 3k lbs. That much weight limits you off road. On one trip, there were a few sections of steep road where I would be spinning all four tires in 4-low and an all-wheel drive suby went straight up with some momentum. Just shows you how much extra drag there is in any trailer your pulling when off-road.
i made a tool box that slid into the side door of my work van on the same principle. add silicon pads to the bottom of your box and it will slide in with one hand
Very neat and clean!!
But the Ford bronco now that’s a gem!!
Wow this is the best cargo trailer by far. Brother you did a amazing job what great ideas. The pull out kitchen is crazy I'd be proud to own that trailer it's the shit.

Отлично получилось!
Tailgate Rockstar on Chicken Hill!
love it Don ,how does it tow while offroading
Be careful with th propain heaters. We had 2 guards at work in s shack who had one in there and they never woke up . I think it was using up the air
This is neat. Where did you find those fold in- adjustable height table legs?
Would you share who you ordered your custom trailer from?
Nice job! This will be our next project.
Trailershowroom.com But beware. There were a bunch of quality issues, so use them at your own risk.
Awesome work, how does it do off road?

awesome trailer !!!!! that's kimd I am going to make thnks for the idea
Don, Great kitchen setup! Like how you used the Trex handrails. Where did you source the legs for the slide out kitchen?
Well done a credit
i made a tool box that slid into the side door of my work van on the same principle. add silicon pads to the bottom of your box and it will slide in with one hand
excellent..............
