I would definitely take a wet bath(sitting style) instead of the "kitchen". Cooking can always be handled outdoors but when you gotta go you gotta go now!!
That looks pretty slick. I'd only caution you to ensure that its always sealed well on the outside. I worked on RV's for 20 years, and there's nothing sadder than seeing how quickly an RV can get ruined by water leaking in. I wouldn't get on the roof w/o putting plywood to walk on, especially if the roof is flat. If you put a low spot on the roof where water can puddle, it'll eventually find a way to leak in, even if its a solid roof panel. I don't tell you this to be a 'downer', but because I loved working in the industry to help people enjoy their leisure time with ease.
I had a 11fk csmp lite and it had everything a big camper does and it was 100% alunimum, even the frame. I like this because it's overall lower height but the one thing that's a deal breaker is the inability to put a Porta pottie in it with the bed down. A must for my wife
I haven't covered all 289 comments so my apologies if it has already been mentioned. You mentioned using the Jacks to level the camper. Those are not leveling jacks even for a camper this small. Use your axle before you unhitch to level left and right. Then level front-to-back after you unhitch. The Jacks Are For stabilization only. Great video!
Excellent walk thru. I appreciate you taking the time to show this to us. I checked one out yesterday at our local dealer. At first I was a little disappointed at the size. But almost in the same breath, I'm totally intimidated by larger units. Can't have it both ways. But since I'm moving up from a tent, and don't want a popup because I'm over 60 and don't want all that setup, this looks like a viable contender. Best of luck in remodeling. Just subscribed.
I have a tent kampa dometic hayling 4 air classic, that can be installed in 10 min, with an air compressor. I plan to buy a sunray 109hd and i was also looking at the geo pro 12 srk and the jayco 12 srq. The sunray has water gas heating, heating cabin and fridge two ways gas electric. It is a bit smaller than the jayco. But cannot find a jayco with ac, propane electric fridge and propane heater inside. The tent give us also a dining room, 2 rooms for storage and porta potti and one relax area with sun shade. I thought it is a good complement. I will install a powerful electric solar system to run the AC and microwave if necessary with 300w and 3000w inverter and 2x battery 12v 100a for 2400wh. The AC is only 5000 btu so it should be enough and all other things works with propane in the sunray. The geo pro has the production suspended. Only the jayco and sunray are available. I wish to have the bigger room of the jayco with the amenities of the sunray.
This camper is adorable but at the end of the day I think I'm at the point that for the money converting a enclosed trailer to a tiny camper is the way to go for customization and being able to have everything people want and need
I have looked at both. The number 1 reason for me to go with something like this trailer vs a cargo trailer is that it is not as tall and does not have the wind resistance pulling it like a cargo trailer has. A cargo trailer (even a small one) is a mpg killer. The idea of this trailer is that it is one step up from a tent (minimalist). Once you can stand up in something, mpg suffers.
Not sure if anyone mentioned, what about a storage box behind the propane tank? Just watch the cargo weight, you’re limited to ~1100#s. Can’t wait to see your build. One other thing if you want to take overlanding, upgrade suspension to Timbren or timbres style system. May help with cargo weight?!
I looked at this but went with a Nucamp Tab 320 instead. ABout the same size, but I have a wet bath and a lot more features. Expensive, though, at double the price of the Jayco.
These are great little trailers. Big upgrade from a tent, as you get older you’ll appreciate it even more. It’s not made to drag across the rubicon trail. He knows what it’s limits are.
Because of your video I was convinced to swap my runaway for that...I got to the dealer and was horribly disappointed. I've got less than 6 in mine and it's so better equipped than what they want 20 for. I hope u enjoy it and get your moneys worth. I'm just imagining what I could do with another 14 to put into my little camper.
The price has doubled because of this crazy pandemic. I paid $12k for mine out the door. I would have never paid $20k either! Lol, thanks for watching!
This is ideal! Great video! You did a very thorough video so that we see all the features. In my opinion this would be a great first RV for those getting into camping without having to have like a bathroom and bunks. A great single or couples RV. that hose on the side is great for outside showers and you can do the portable shower stall outside for privacy and put that portable toilet in there too.
I've been trying to find one about like that. All I need is a bed in a box for those unexpected rainy days that come out of no where! But unfortunately everything seems to cost a king's ransom today, even for the smallest of trailers with basically nothing. This economy has gone insane!!!
Buy you a 5x10 box trailer and build your own camper. I did that with a 7x16 double axle and it's fun and awesome. Only cost me about 8500 for the whole project and I have people offer to buy it.
@@codybennett3646 i bought a 5x8 aluminum northern tool trailer n made a 6x8 camper for around 4500 with filon. Im in same boat people offer to buy it as well
Leave the black stone where it is; Lift up a cabinet at level to the black stone and use as a utensil drawer.. and set your frig on top. and any cabinets in remaining room.. Wondering about any sink area; Perhaps can go where you planned to move the black stone stove. Question can the Blackstone stove be used as regular burners. I like ideal about roof top kayak or tent. Awning idea with perhaps a possible closure to it.. and a built in pop into shower/ toilet area.. with pull into shower sprayer..
Remove the slide out grill, attach it to the metal wheel well, see if you can attach swivels to tilt it up for driving. Down for cooking. Just an idea.
I agree Jon. The thought of drilling into that side panel gives me the “willies” thinking it’ll leak through here someday. Also, maybe set up your shower area with a drop down tent from A bar suspended from up top. Again , more drilling but it’ll get you showered up and washing dishes quicker.
For me the first thing I would do would make it off grid so put a 190 watt solar panel on it, but that is way cool. How much does it way dry? I'm imagining you could tow that with just about anything. I was surprise how nice it was on the inside.
Upon your suggestion for suggestions as a ham radio guy I can’t help myself but to say that would be a great mobile for voice and digital communications via ham radio.
We went a little smaller with an Escapade Backcountry. Its not as comfortable as that Jayco but more off road capable. Either way, this summer Im taking time off to take the kayak and camper and fish the entire Texas coast.
Nice, practical and convenient little rig. 1. Regarding the rack and table you may consider looking at the Rockwood Mini Lites. All come with what you described. If you like the metal material and the size, of the track bar and table, you may order it from Rockwood. 2. If it was my rig, I would add a roof and the biggest cargo box I can fit. I'm not a good angler by any means but I have a big Thule cargo box on top of my SUV and I carry among many other things; 10 fishing poles for me and my son, two lure bags and other fishing gear, 4 big camping chairs, and more. I guess it is 22 CuFt of cargo space. Things that don't rot and you use constantly can be kept permanently on the cargo box. Mine open from both sides also. 3. Regarding cabinets in the kitchen, I watched a bunch of vanlife videos, and there is a modular system they install like a track bar on the wall. Then they hang modular canvas cabinets were they can select different sizes and how many of them they want. It is lightweight and you can arrange, put on and take off the cabinets as you want. Don't remember the brand though.
Hey TJ. Just came across your video. Really like the trailer and I was wondering if you found the Batwing awning for the camper and which one did you get?
This is really neat. I had to have a bathroom lol. I have a 20ft Coleman. But I don’t see us getting anything much bigger than that even if we ever upgrade. We also don’t really off road however I would like to look into boondocking some. But this is a really neat unit. I like jaycos in general when I was looking. But the market right now is slim pickings and I managed to snatch mine up from a local guy.
Totally with you on that. A few more feet inside for maybe a TV tray as a makeshift desk. Or to make a Murphy desk. Folks like me coming from a tent, already have all the kitchen fixins. Just give us a soft detachable awning out the back. Or a batwing like this gentleman said. But I do like that 12v cooler/frig.
Uh oh, we older folks gotta have a bathroom. I don’t want to get out of bed at 3am, get dressed, and walk to a bathroom. ….or the woods! Lol. It’s very nice, tho, for what you’re needing.
Add some Billie bars! Or some other type of 80/20 aluminum bars. I’ve got a Leitner rack system and always interested in others mods made with my t-slots
That thing is awsome i like the out side kitchen whene camping its what u need who needs inside kitchen or even uses kitchen in a camper unless they are living inthem on the road but camping having kitchen out side is way to go
Man they went nuts with applying the sealant to to solar adapter and vent. They could've masked off the area and sandwiched the sealant between the components and the surface and run a plastic spoon around it to form an aerodynamic seal. Other than that, they did pretty good with this unit.
I like this. I've been looking for a long time at these and similar units. I think that maybe some type of "passthrough" from the inside to the fridge would be a welcomed feature... Good Luck and enjoy!!!!!!
I would use both refrigerator th one it came with an the bigger one always bring more if u can while camping or lamping lol and a few coolers and one thing these trailers need is a small ice maker

Just bought mine today, pick it up on Monday. Have enjoyed both of the videos. Came back on looking for your second one tonight after watching last night. I was pretty impressed when I went to look at the unit. I've been trying to decide between GE0 12, or Sunray, Tab......this Jay 12SRK won me over, and your review helped me make the decision. Loved the way you used the pop up tent over the galley when you went out. Just heard the bat wing idea when I watched this one again. Looking forward to lots of happy camping in mine.
What's the width of the bed when it's folded out? I saw a video talking about how it's north of 6th long thanks to the space for the pillows but wasn't sure about width.
It's been a year. Do you have any galley updates on this trailer, yet? If not, one can hardly blame you what with everything else you got goin' on. lol.
Your camper trailer look very nice. However, I couldn’t see the stand up room. Nor Could I see the entry view. I would like to suggest a snap on tarp that drops down in the rear galley. I would be handy during incoming bad weather. Last thing you need is wind or rain ruining your meals. It’s an easy & cheap DYI project. The hardest part is installing snaps into the pop up trailer door & walls. I would also suggest folding a straight piece of metal into the bottom of the tarp that hangs down. By the way you can use glue to seal the ends in place. You get the idea. If it was my trailer, I would do this for all three sides just in case. You never know.
Awesome video TJ!! Cant wait to see all the modifications!! Welcome to the Jayco Family
You guys have some of the best trailers!
