Walked by a red burst one today at the local shop. Turned around and had to play it. Ended up buying it. It is such a cool guitar, I couldn't resist. Nice to have a humbucking tele, and the gold foils are fantastic sounding. Recorded a little, and it sounds excellent and still tele like. Neck is great, and plays really nice. The ebony is really striking, especially after looming at those awful Pao Ferro boards on so many Fender things lately.
Just put one on Layby and at a great price I got the candy apple red can't wait to have it 🎉 And also thank you for the review of this guitar thumbs up from Australia 🦘🇭🇲👍
Great, clear, straight-ahead overview - thanks for that! Appreciate the clean section - once we get into OD most guitars pretty much sound similar TBH. This may be my first Tele, the classic Tele + mini-buckers sound is really appealing . . . been a Les Paul & Strat player for 50 years or so 😅
Just bought one. Only had it for a day but so far loving it. If you are a traditional Tele guy and looking for twang only, it's most likely not your cup of tea but if you want versatility it's a GREAT selection. It's still does great Tele tones but it's just not 'as' driven that way. The cleans are very nice and the middle position has a very good percussive tone. I rarely like most neck pickups with gain. Imho that what a bridge is for. When playing on the bridge you can crank it and get VERY good distortion tones. What I don't like about many Tele's are how thin they are with gain. This is just right. Light gain on the bridge give some very good lead tones. It fattens up well and can still cut through a band mix. The neck is great and fast. Looks are killer. Agree about the ebony over Pat Ferro on the neck. So far so 'great'.
Now that I gave it a glowing report to be honest there are two things that could be better. Not that it is a deal breaker (at least for me) but I do find the weight to be a bit much. It heavier than I like for a Tele. The fret work on the ends could be better too. Mexico has improved their quality control over the years but not as much on the fret work as I would like. That can be fixed but for over 1K I should have too. Funny how the PRS SE models and especially Schecter can do a great job while others don't.
Great video! Is this guitar like the Blacktop or HH series? That's pretty much all I own. I always swap out the stock pickups with the Duncan JH-2 (bridge) JH-4 (Neck) which sounds sick! Where would you put the stock pickups with this one? That gold really pops man, but all I care about is tone.. the gold is icing! Thanks
Your reviews are fast becoming my favorite place to spend some quality UA-cam time. I thought the clean tones were great but the dirty tones were sounding muddy in my headphones. Great playing throughout!
@@tarpley-music Kind of like how the "wide range humbuckers" on the Squire Classic Vibe 70's Telecaster are just regular humbuckers with a fancy cover.
Great demo man!! They have such a unique sound, way better than a stock tele. Quick question: I just ordered one and want to replace the pickguard - do you think a standard telecaster pickguard would work or would I need something custom?

12” radius with an Ebony board, I’m sold.

I really love the clean tones. Full and thick, but still sounding like a Tele 👍
Agreed!
That ‘In The Mix’ was awesome!!
Absolute fire!! 🔥
Oh you guys lol

Great video. I want a Tele with a little extra power but still sounding like a tele
I put a supro mini in the neck position of my Tele. This vid was up my alley! Nice job.
Rock on!

Congrats! Glad you’re enjoying your new guitar. Solid choice for that extra versatility.

Thank you! Pickups of course always a personal preferences but Id leave these bad boys right where they are. LOL Thanks again!
I wouldn't worry about scooping it UNLESS you want the pickups. No sense in replacing the only differing feature.

Nice to see that thing has been played a lot already.
If y’all carry Blackstar, y’all should demo an Amped 1, the Tele is great, it’s hard through youtube, I’d love to play it through my rig
Looking good James
We’ve had the Amped 1 on order and are just waiting on supply!
Thing looks so cool. Will do one for sure!
Dope. You literally explained everything I wanted to know about this bad mamma jamma. Scooping one in the cherry burst for sure.
Excellent, thank you for watching!
3:28 I was almost expecting that clean bridge tone to summon the spirit of Tom Petty.
We miss you, TP. RIP.
I love the look of it, but I wish they did some MIA models. Might get one anyway though.
Valid! Would be cool to see.
Are they 500k pots (volume & tone) ?
Good question!
Are those pickups noisy?
Actual gold foils or minihumbuckers with gold foil covers?
According to the spec sheet they are gold foil minihumbuckers, but the only way to truly know is to tear the guitar down.

Probably a custom to be safe.
Didn’t harmony do this already like 5yrs ago and made in the heritage Kalamazoo plant in usa …for less?
How much does it weigh??
8.4 lbs! We just weighed it.
Well I guess it's time to sell some guitars so I can buy this
The pick ups are really humbuckers disguised as gold foil pick ups
