Great video. I just ordered this guitar, same color, and funny enough, I have a shell pink Freya coming like the one on your wall too. Can't wait for that!
WCM mentioned you so here I am! Cool demo of a guitar I would never buyer myself, Fender is just dropping the ball atm imo. Personally would go with a MIJ Japanese brand Jazzmaster style. Anyhow, subbed!
Welcome! Love WCM. I was going to send them this one but they had another available. I'm FLOORED by how bad theirs is. Mine isn't perfect (mainly the frets) but it's a totally playable instrument.
Once again, you're 100% right. The tele has a 12" radius. I bet I read incorrect copy that's since been updated. That and the fact that the Jazz Bass has a single coil has me all turned around on this series! The fact that they have pickups that look like gold foils seems to be the main similarity between them.
The Silhouette also has a nitro finish and excellent quality control. With those specs and and the US Made B5 i'd choose the Harmony every time. I suspect Fender took note of how well the US made Harmony guitars are doing and they're trying to grab a piece of that market share.
@@tacdoc8736 one hundred percent. I have an am pro 2 Jazzmaster and a Harmony silhouette and they go toe to toe but there a couple things I prefer about the Harmony.
I find it really interesting that Fender seems to be doing their version of a Harmony Silhouette, when the original ‘60s Silhouette was more or less a copy of a Fender Jazzmaster. It’s deja vu all over again!
Picked up a Telecaster that had been Frankenmodded to hell and back (someone only had access to a jigsaw and soldering iron) by gutting it and putting in 2 Tiesco Gold Foil Mini humbuckers and a dual rail in the bridge position. If it hadn't been $50 I probably would have passed, but I'm so glad I didn't. That guitar made me fall in Love with foil pickups (and made me a lot less of a Squire vs. Fender snob).
Whatever pickup config you had at the very beginning, that sounded so nice and jazzy, just not a tone you would expect from a Mexican Fender. I like these a lot
Sea butter mascara that a lady at the farmer's market makes. It's good stuff. Probably not going to buy this one, but it sounds absolutely lovely, I love a mini-hum in the middle position, reminds me of the Dead without having to go all the way into Dead territory. That Bigsby is also verra nice.
So tempted to get one of these and replace the pickups. Just sounds tinny to me. What would be a warmer sounding pickup or should the bass just be cranked up?
Personally, having a Bigsby on a Jazzmaster is an excuse to justify getting a new variation. Kinda digging the twangy sounds, even though that's not a style I play. Love the gold finish too. I wonder if you could swap out some Lollar or Fralin mini humbuckers in these...Great review!
Nice review. I'd like to know which mini humbucker designed they used. Either the firebird style or an actual Epiphone style with mini buckers. I put minis in my tele. Good cross between a single and a PAF style pickup.
I'm curious, as someone who says they are a fan of Bigsbys, how is the playing feel of a Bigsby different with a Mustang bridge as opposed to a tuneomatic? Seems like it's be a big improvement.
As someone who plays and writes mostly garage rock/punk, of course after I order a mod shop Jazzmaster they drop the thing that I would have bought for a lot less instead of customizing one myself for a similar tone. Curse my lack of future vision!
Oooof yeah I can imagine. Well I hope the Mod Shop quality is at least more consistent. I know one other person who got this GFJM and just heard that it was ROUGH.
@@GetOffset The quality of the mod shop JM is actually great. Everything was smooth right out the case. Didn’t know about the quality on the GFs. Makes me feel less bad lol. My main player is actually a Noventa Jazzmaster with 3 soapbar shaped MJS big singles for that twangy tone.

I just paste my comment from the official Fender video, to a guy who requested a Mustang, as it seems to fit the discussion very well: "If you are currently looking for a limited Fender Mustang, check out the Traditional 60s Reversed Headstock HS. It"s Made in Japan (those Gold Foil models are Made in Mexico). I have mine since three months, have played the first gig after 4 days on it as I felt immediatly comfortable and didn't play any of my other (American made) guitars since. It sounds and looks amazing (that's subjective, of course), so I always get into a creative spot. Objectively, it's also my guitar with the best playability. Just the cleanest fretwork possible." So yeah, flawless new Fenders do exist for a good price. There is also a Japanese Jazzmaster with CuNiFe Wide Range Humbuckers, that doesn't cost much more than this Gold Foil Jazzmaster. I expect the same Japanese build quality and it has those iconic pickups. I know, which one would be by far the better deal for me. While the Gold Foil is cool, it seems almost gimmicky in comparison.
