- Welcome, in today's video you have seen the renovation planer Narex extra special 3.
A planer is one of the ingenious carpentry tools used for leveling and smoothing wood. A classic planer usually consists of a wooden body in the shape of a prism and a knife embedded in it.
Today's modern planers are made of metal, they have a longer life and accuracy, but still work with them requires a certain skill.
The iron must also be sharpened regularly to achieve the best possible results.
During the times of the monarchy and the 1st Republic, it was said that a good carpenter could be recognized by the shavings, when the shavings were wide, long and thinner than a cigarette paper. It showed a good carpenter.
And now back to the planers.
The surfaces of the planers are either fixed or adjustable to different sizes and depths of the resulting profiles.
Divided into different types: Basic, these are for processing flat surfaces, these include: Trowel, remover, knocker, squeegee, cat, toothed.
Then we have other planers for planing grooves, such as cornices, gouges and half gouges, edgers, gouges, gouges and other profiled gouges.

I've never seen this plane before. I like the simple style it has. Easy to operate. Enjoyed immensely the restoration, Rodak. Veronika had some very lovely white flowers in her gardengarden I enjoyed as well. ❤😊

I was taught to use what was then known as a 'jack plane' at school almost 60 years ago. These were long, wooden, rectangular and very heavy for a child to use; I don't think I have seen one since then. When my father died I inherited a steel plane very similar to the one you worked on but I have never used it. I feel motivated to renovate it now! It is always lovely to hear Veronika talk about the history of the tools you choose to renovate but I was very happy to see Mona enjoying the sunshine also. Greetings and best wishes my friends, Nick

I have quite a few Narex tools. several chisel sets and curved knives. the quality of the steel is great. the chisels are every bit as good as my vintage Stanleys. Would love to find a plane like this. Great job, thanks for sharing.

The old planes I find at flea markets and estate sales are often very high quality. If you have the time and ability to fix them up, they're orders of magnitude less expensive than buying a high-quality new plane. ($15 + needs some work) beats paying $250!

Рубанок такого образца и сейчас можно найти в продаже. Что сподвигло Вас на реставрацию сего инструмента? Как то я спрашивал Вас, работаете ли на заказ или для себя, а в данном случае? Да, он не такой уж и старый. Производство этого пубанка закончилось два года назад. Они производили его 60 лет! Я нашла этот рубанок выброшенным и пожалела его, ведь он прослужит долго :)

Luxusní práce a úžasný popis. Jenom jedna věc mi není jasná a to že hoblovačka od dobrého truhláře byla slabší než cigaretový papírek. Vždyť v té době cigarety nebyly. Nebo už jo ?
Díky Honzo. První cigarety se objevily kolem roku 1832. V té době si egyptští vojáci během turecko-egyptské války ubalili první cigaretu, protože jim chyběly doutníky a tabák zabalili do papírku. Nicméně, cigarety se staly společenským fenoménem až na začátku 20. století, kdy se rozšířily po celém západním světě.
