Thanks! Good question. You could make a scene but that would be pretty tedious. If the background is going to stay the same for each speaker I'd take the original clip, replace the background on the whole clip, export it, then re-import the new file with the background, then make it into a multicam sequence for editing (here's a tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/dktV_LR6Krk/v-deo.html)
Honestly, it seems the AI effect wins pretty readily. Less fiddly, no physical GS required, and no green ghosts like around the fingers. Guess my real GS will stay in storage. Thanks for the demo!
Yeah I think it's the best tool for probably 99% of uses unless you're trying to mask something with very complicated edges (or something that isn't a person). I just wish they'd change the name to Background Remover or something else...

The issue I’m having is I’m recording whilst sharing my screen, and I can’t seem to figure out how to edit the background ONLY in the little speaker circle that appears when I’m talking through my slides. I don’t want to edit the entire background as I’ll be talking through what’s appearing on the screen, but I DO want to edit the background in the little speaker circle where the viewers can see me. This is what I just can’t figure out, any help appreciated! I’ve asked Descript directly but still quite confused.
If this is one of those set layouts you recorded with Descript's preset, then you can't change it. Background removal is looking at the video as a whole and trying to remove the background - your slide/speaker circle layout is one final video as recorded. If you want to have more control over how your speaker circle and slides look, you'll have to record them as two separate video files simultaneously and build the layout in Descript. Then you can change the background and do whatever you want. Like as a transparent video you could overlay on something else? No - if you don't add a background and just export it'd be a video with a black background
i choose green screen cut out background, after import green picture and add as new background. Byt when import video is saved as original without my new backgroundI @@vp-land

@@theprimalpitch190 i think i tried it but it ended up being the worst of both worlds - same cutout with AI but now there's green spill on the edges
