because it's 5 hours and he's got individual videos for each day on his channel, much more manageable to watch those one by one than sit down for a 5 hour video.
Found you from your new series (mouth to ocean) and am waiting for Episode 2, and saw this. Amazing and reminds me of c90Adventures! I wish there was a long cut of your World Tour.
All I can say is WOWW! Stumbled upon this video completely randomly and spent the past 5 days watching it bit by bit. Ed you are awesome! Thank you for the great commentary, terrific editing and just soothing vibes! Well done to you 👏🏽🥳
I'm not comfortable traveling like this as a woman alone and as a wuss (I could never trust someone a stranger's foraged mushrooms!) so I especially love being able to dip my toe into what it's like to be a more adventurous traveler. It's also just so nice to see how many regular people you get to meet who are happy to talk and share their food or knowledge with you. As someone from a rural area it's like a glimpse into another world, but it's not so different after all. the people make it feel homey somehow.
Latvia is actually quite safe in my opinion for travels like this, the worst you can get would be some drunks, but they should be harmless, In the capital you might get a bit more of weirdos so I would stay at night near there outside. Still, all that said I would recommend going with someone and not alone, especially if you are a woman.
The Baltic states and really all of Northern Europe is incredibly safe for female travelers. I hope one day you get out there and have some adventures!
The "borovik" mushrooms are called "penny bun" in English, or, more recognizably, "funghi porcini" in Italian. The yellow ones ("lisichki" in Russian) are chanterelles. These two are top tier in our Baltic forests.
Just finished the video, it's been keeping me busy during work hours this week and I wholeheartedly enjoyed getting a look into your journey. What a lovely country Latvia seems to be. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I loved Sylvain's comment about making your 8 year old and 80 year old selves proud. What great adventures and camraderie you both have! Thank you for sharing. ❤🙏🏼
I have no words. I enjoyed every part of the trip! Furthermore, I felt for a moment I was part of it. Really beautiful video. All those stops you made to record those little pieces were really worth it! Absolute masterpiece.
3:24:10 is a "kupica" - a small mound denoting a cadastral border edge/corner dug up during land survey. It is supposed to have a post/marker placed, but this one is missing it. These are common in rural areas and one of the official ways for forestry lands to indicate land borders.
Btw mushroom hunting isn't just a Latvian thing. It's very common in the Nordics too at that time of year. In Finland it's extremely common to go picking mushrooms (mostly chanterelles) and blueberries in the forest from around August to October. There's even a knife (sieniveisti - literally mushroom knife) designed especially for picking mushrooms, which features a brush to clean the mushrooms before putting them in your basket. It's extremely relaxing and I love doing it.
Been viewer for a while , but probably enjoyed this video of you the most, for a bias reason, I’m Latvian . Sad I didn’t see the meet n greet . Maybe next time😅
I did not think i would want to watch this video but i actually watched like 30minutes of it and i saved the video so i can continue watching it later, i absolutely loved it❤
Just watched all of this Ed after following along with your source to sea adventure. What an epic journey you had, Latvia looks like an absolutely beautiful country... I loved every minute - more please!
Ed,you are by far the ultimate unicyclist and everyone knows what you accomplished was truly amazing you don’t need Guinness, an incredible and inspirational human being xxx
Best vlog on you tube yet. Incredible the time effort that goes into something like this. New follower but hooked. Can't wait to get through the selection of videos.
The green vegetable in 3.38 is in germany very popular. Its called Kohlrabi, an kin of cabbage. You can eat it raw or cooked. Schoolkids get it also in ther lunepacked for school. :)
Thank you Ed, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this. It is long one but you make it interesting and fun, which made of a beautiful watch for me over the weekend. You're amazing, I can imagine how difficult this trip is. Some of the terrain seems unmanoeurable, but you soldier on. Well done lad 😘😘
I'm up late tonight. Real late! Making some holiday candy-grams for my classmates. But, it's been so nice having this video running while I put them all together. Getting to see such an adventure play out is so exciting, the times just been flying by!
What a journey! Thank you for taking us along with you. Good to know that you have stuff to hold me over while I wait for the next Thames episode, from which I found your channel 😄
You say "depressing progress" on the first day, but that just means you can pat yourself on the back later as you pick up speed! Cheers from the US, these "adventure videos" really help tame the wanderlust while it's all a bit too cold out to go adventuring myself
I love my Nimbus Unicycle! I bought mine before they came standard with a break. Now I want a break and handlebars! Great trip bro, thanks for sharing!
Hey Ed! Been following you for about 5 years now, (The round the world trip was off the scale BTW!) I absolutely loved watching this, I can honestly say it's the best thing I've watched on any channel for a long time, and I'm talking about all the mainstream/Netflix **** that we get hit with 😞 I paricularly loved your drone footage, (very nicely edited btw) I'm not sure what your long term plans are, but I would seriously recommend you investigate the world of media production, as I think you would be a natural, both in front or behind the lens! Anyhow, you are an inspiration to all would be adventurers, whether they be actual or armchair. God bless you mate!
1:41:35 I heard the noises and was pretty sure it was a hooved mammal of sorts. Couldn't tell you what kind of animals are there, I started at deer and elk, maybe caribou or moose like animal. But I didn't know anything about the local fauna, so I was assuming I had a high probability of being wrong. I can be lucky with my guesses occasionally.
I'm Brazilian and I would love to read a book about your adventures translated into Portuguese. I use Google Translate to understand your trips and I love it so much. I'm starting to ride a unicycle and I'm already thinking about an adventure like yours ☺
This should be on national geographic. Very well done and I love all the different angles. This looks a lot like Canada I would love to visit Latvia one day❤
Oh wow! Just watched the full 5 hours to the very last second. What an amazing journey. I'm going to be going wild camping in Wales soon for the first time and looking forward to it! Not on a unicycle though ;)
I don’t know how you managed to travel across a country on a unicycle, not to mention holding a camera in your hand and recording the entire journey, but you’re truly inspiring.
I’ve been poorly and just binge-watched your whole trip record - brilliant! Loved it. Just wanted to find out what happened after you crossed the border … I need closure! 😂
4:14:12 I usually ask the shopkeepers at these little village shops for some tap water, most often than not they fill me up. Plus it's a chance to buy an ice cream!
I vividly remember when I saw someone on my way home from Ceduna to Streaky bay a guy on a unicycle travelling at a slow speed, I thought I was crazy but maybe not? 😅
great video, i really enjoyed it, and want to go to the baltics :) only thing i complain about, it that most of cycling videos dont mention how they got to the starting point, and how they got home from end point.
Very impressive on a unicycle! But I think I’ll stick with my mountain bike for big adventures 😅 not being able to free wheel or get over rough terrain would definitely frustrate the hell out of me! Although I do really appreciate the simplicity of it! 😊
Great video. Sub/thumb. I'm curious - is there such a thing as a unicycle with gears? Some sort of planetary hub gear - like the old 3-speed Huffys used to have?
I think you should boost unicycle awareness but organizing a bi-annual Land's End to John-o-Groats race. Or maybe you do it once and see if anyone wants to do it again.
as a latvian who actually lives in the uk, I was watching this video with a massive smile on my face.
Right I'm a latvian who lives in Latvia and finaly a normal british person comes here.
It is so cool seeing how the people you meet are welcoming and helpful without a second thought.
Brother, why is this video being slept on. This is actual UA-cam Gold.
I will be sharing this with anyone I can
Most people have already watched the individual videos of each day
because it's 5 hours and he's got individual videos for each day on his channel, much more manageable to watch those one by one than sit down for a 5 hour video.
I still say you deserve the Guinness around the world record, hope you decide to have another attempt before you get too old.
Guinness isnt the official record keeper for earth, it's mostly rich people paying to feel special
Yeah Guinness is first and foremost a marketing company and not an official body of any kind
So disappointing that he don't use nature for food also, like mushrooms and fish from the lakes/river!
@@LegaliseIntellect you do it
@@LegaliseIntellect yeah, what a lazy dude!!
Found you from your new series (mouth to ocean) and am waiting for Episode 2, and saw this. Amazing and reminds me of c90Adventures! I wish there was a long cut of your World Tour.
Same I was looking for it. But I like this longer form content much better
like a less crazy c90
@@alastor7000 exactly, the much more calm and politicly correct "Ed" lol (i think c90's name is Ed also, ya?)
you should check out his world unicycle tour
I've watched your whole Latvian series, and still can't get enough of it.
Thanks for all the hard word Ed
The only 4+hrs video i watched on youtube that I didn't even skip a scene. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Take care.
Love the simple humanity of asking people to fill your water bottle and it all being fine and normal
All I can say is WOWW! Stumbled upon this video completely randomly and spent the past 5 days watching it bit by bit. Ed you are awesome! Thank you for the great commentary, terrific editing and just soothing vibes! Well done to you 👏🏽🥳
I’m only 30 mins in, and so far loving your journey and the people you meet along the way!
Keep going it’s truly such an inspiring and entertaining journey!
This is a perfect example of gold standard of UA-cam, and ED you have been a spirit of adventure.

I watched it over a couple of days, too. What a beautiful, inspiring journey!
3:38:00 the green vegtable is called "Kohlrabi" in german. I guess its like a cabbage turnip thing? we mostly peel it and then eat it raw or cooked
Watched the series, very difficult bike ride, you are the Man, keep up with the incredible adventures 🎉 thanks for sharing 😊
I loved Sylvain's comment about making your 8 year old and 80 year old selves proud. What great adventures and camraderie you both have! Thank you for sharing. ❤🙏🏼

Fantastic work! I enjoyed all of it sitting on my bum drinking wine at Christmas 2024. Life is an adventure!
" How much Vodka you drink in UK? you feel tomorrow okay? " what a legend
Thats the main problem - the headache after.. 😂
Best vlog on you tube yet. Incredible the time effort that goes into something like this. New follower but hooked. Can't wait to get through the selection of videos.
A big well done Ed what a journey. Loved watching this amazing adventure and what a beautiful country just wow!
An absolute Joy to watch . Thank you so much
The fact you can ride the unicycle and get good camera shots is just incredible.
Keep up the good work!
Big fan of your stuff and your mentality, keep doing what you’re doing Ed life’s worth living for adventures like this, great video
Oh my god another adventure!! I love it.. It's like an infection.. you make me impulsively book flights I shouldn't
Thank you for the great film! Awesome camera work
Absolute legend, i love watching your videos and having so much to watch is quite the treat, thankyou for your amazing work and dedication ❤
The green vegetable in 3.38 is in germany very popular. Its called Kohlrabi, an kin of cabbage. You can eat it raw or cooked. Schoolkids get it also in ther lunepacked for school. :)

From south east Asia, i really enjoyed your Adventure, , what a beautiful trail track there,,,, 👏🏻
Great job mate. You are inspirational ❤️
ive already watched most of these videos twice (patreon and UA-cam) third time is the charm i guess!
I'm up late tonight. Real late! Making some holiday candy-grams for my classmates. But, it's been so nice having this video running while I put them all together. Getting to see such an adventure play out is so exciting, the times just been flying by!
Great video mate but while watching I couldn’t get the thought out of my head on how you filmed those scenes while riding looks mental to me
Pleasure to watch the journey was amazing 🙏🫡🍺
I don't if anyone translated this for you in the comments, but little kid in Kuldiga is telling you that you're doing really good 👍🏼!

Those Latvian lads 30 mins in are so chill, the kind of folks you'd love to have a beer with
Watched your whole series. I'm excited for your South Korean Adventure.
It's so weird seeing your country in a UA-cam video, absolutely awesome!
Great video watched the whole thing over past day and half, the week with the french guy definitely broke it up for you.
I'm Brazilian and I would love to read a book about your adventures translated into Portuguese. I use Google Translate to understand your trips and I love it so much. I'm starting to ride a unicycle and I'm already thinking about an adventure like yours ☺
i think you bought Kohlrabi at 3:38, which I love to eat, just at it is, because it has a great crunch to it
This should be on national geographic. Very well done and I love all the different angles. This looks a lot like Canada I would love to visit Latvia one day❤
You should get some shoulder straps for the unicycle to help with the on foot parts
Really nice of you to put it all together in one big video. Thanks for the great entertainment and awesome adventure.
I couldn't even balance on a bicycle(without training wheels), and Ed's riding across Latvia on a unicycle? Madness. Can't wait to watch.
It would be amazing to watch you cross Canada!
I would love to have one (or probably several) of these long form compilations of the around the world trip!
Oh wow! Just watched the full 5 hours to the very last second. What an amazing journey. I'm going to be going wild camping in Wales soon for the first time and looking forward to it! Not on a unicycle though ;)
Just binged this in one sitting, amazing video. Felt like the other guy may have slowed you down a little but overall great journey.
I’m honestly thinking about going to Latvia now. What a beautiful country and people, I’m a bit envious! I live in Florida USA it’s awful here.
I don’t know how you managed to travel across a country on a unicycle, not to mention holding a camera in your hand and recording the entire journey, but you’re truly inspiring.
This made me exhausted just watching. No way I’d ever give up a second wheel for this.
Same here, but I guess there is some advantages like when he has to carry it
It was an lovely video had fun watching it
I’ve been poorly and just binge-watched your whole trip record - brilliant! Loved it. Just wanted to find out what happened after you crossed the border … I need closure! 😂
Thank you so much for this. A wonderful video. You are an inspiration.
Bro this deserves WAY more views Holy shit
Commented to help and I rarely comment. You are legit man.
Keep living life to the fullest!!!
Still the supreme bad ass of cycling. I cant fathom the difficulty 🤘✌️
2:41 that translates to the very creative name of forest path
I fully empathize with Sylain's excitement for cheese - I need at least 3 servings a day to stay happy 😊
This is the last type of video I would guess I would be watching but here I am quite enjoying your video. 😅Have you ever been to Finland?😁
4:14:12 I usually ask the shopkeepers at these little village shops for some tap water, most often than not they fill me up. Plus it's a chance to buy an ice cream!
You're a youtube legend, Ed🎉
You have to do something similar to this in Norway ❤️
skis instead lol
I vividly remember when I saw someone on my way home from Ceduna to Streaky bay a guy on a unicycle travelling at a slow speed, I thought I was crazy but maybe not? 😅
I'll probably be here. I'm waiting for my train from Istanbul Turkey to Budapest hungry.
This is the coolest!!!
20:10 that is the most latvian thing ever
great video, i really enjoyed it, and want to go to the baltics :)
only thing i complain about, it that most of cycling videos dont mention how they got to the starting point, and how they got home from end point.
Amazing 🎉
What an underrated video, def deserves more views
After watching few of your expeditions.........
I'm ordering a 26x4 " fat tyre 700w uni cycle with regenerative braking from Ali b 🤠👍
Just stumbled across this young man. Very entertaining, charismatic. A lot more engaging that dull Scottish fella on 2 wheels
I think you should boost unicycle awareness but organizing a bi-annual Land's End to John-o-Groats race. Or maybe you do it once and see if anyone wants to do it again.
2:52:27 maybe those islands🏝️ are for birds to nest. Idk 🤷
It’s something called kohl rabi (I think, if I’ve got the spelling right). As you say, a swede-like root vegetable.
Respect!
Good job. I wonder how you took the drone shots of you cycling?
