I have watched many GDMBR videos and this one is simply breathtaking. Brings back amazing memories for sure. Thanks for all the hard work in putting this video together. We are lucky!
I’am retired so I can and do watch a lot of UTube bike packing and bike touring videos. Hands down this is my favorite video on the subject of bicycling. Nice music along the way, too.
@danielholman7225 Retired and 71 here, I rode half of the Divide in 2021. It is tough, but doable if you take your time. Going to finish it next summer.
Thanks for creating this. You have a real knack for cool shots. Awesome drone footage but then other cool stuff like filming from inside your bag while you grab a banana.
Thank you Matt! I watched this today ( birthday) with a pot of coffee and a frittata and revelled in your exceptional ride. Used to live in Alberta and I know the road you road on from Jasper down to Canmore, travelled that myself back in the day. Keep up the great filming.
Wow this film is on another planet, loved watching this, best scenery ever and best cycling video on you tube by a country mile, great presentation as well.
Thank you for creating this documentary showcasing your successes, struggles and the beauty of the United States. Congratulations on completing your vision quest! ☮
One of the best GDMR videos I’ve seen . Weed,Wine and good times. I was out there the same time this year. If you ever want to visit Santa Fe,NM and join an overnighter ,hit me up.
Very nice video and a different perspective of the Divide. Probably the best drone work I’ve seen of the Divide videos and really like the perspective of following you down the trail. Fantastic video of the grizzly. I hope you had bear spray. Congratulations on your ride!
Matt, this work is incredible, the quality is outstanding. Thank you for not throwing your hat at the bear, they may not of worked out to well for you . Well done on completing such a big challege.
Hi MATT, very cool to see your finished project. Breathtaking! Having regressed back to “normal” life, thank you for a brief retreat back to the GDMbR. Be well, Eric
Nice work Matt. It was great meeting you out there. Really impressed to see how it all turned out. Honored to have made the cut here and there. Keep riding! 🚴
Very cool to meet you @michaelpusey6341and pedal with you a little. You and Marion were great to see off and on and talk about our experiences. Stoked you liked the edit.
What a wonderful video Matt. I’ve watched just about everything about riding the GDMBR and this is one of the very best. Kudos. I’m riding it in 2025 with a similar setup and you’re providing such inspiration. Man! That aeropress got some use! Greetings from the UK
Inspiring tribute to a good friend! Great footage and quirky side notes. Loved it. Nice work bro. I'll join You in sparking one up in the memory of friends gone but not forgotten. Thanks for sharing your cool adventure.
Hello 👋from BC! This was such a great movie. Watched the whole thing, man. I legitimately laughed out loud at the opening scene - had to show it to my wife. THIS is the essence of bikepacking. Heinous weather, you're waiting it out under a tree, "Gonna make a pot of coffee when this stops." fackin' deadpan, dude. So good. I'm glad you did this, and this movie is a gift to this genre of content. Really like it.
Watched your video last night and LOVED it. I've watched a lot of GDMBR vids and yours is by far my favorite. I was mesmerized and glued to the TV. Pouring over your gear list too. Your soundtrack, editing and commentary were awesome. Thank you for your work.
Wow, thanks @EricGeaslin for the compliments, really appreciate it. Awesome to hear you went over to the gear list as well, good luck on your adventures. If you have questions please hit me up.
Fabulous movie Matt. Spectacular photography and a sense of travelling along with you in the way you put it together. Thanks for all the hard work. Totally worth it as far as I’m concerned.
Thanks for a great video of an epic journey and congratulations Matt. The filming of the wild bear was brilliant. Please pass on my condolences to Nats family.
Excellent movie, very well done! I loved the drone shots, time lapses, wildlife, ... just an excellent movie! Thanks for all the work you put into it and letting us enjoy it.
Excellent filming and editing, blew me away. Thanks for the memories! Yes on Teton Nat'l Park, I heard wolves camped on the Divide route in there above Pinedale, WY. Nice when you said, "...I've never seen such a beautiful cloudy morning". That means you had long time on the road eyes.:-) Cattle tank water, any stagnant source, I filter and use Potable Aqua tabs. The filters only get bacteria, while iodine or chlorine tabs kill viruses that cattle can transmit. (saw your note on water at the end). Beautiful video, thanks again!☮
Excellent documentary. Your videography skills are outstanding. My wife and I are the tandem couple that met you outside of Banff, and saw you a few other times early on the ride. We were also able to finish in Antelope Wells on 24 August. 50 riding days all quite hard as you know. Congrats!
Oh I know the route. Killer it is. I just can’t imagine the weight lugging two bottles of wine around. But he finished. That’s what matters. He’s got some mad camera skills too! Well done 👊🏻
Loving your video, I have watched allot of Great Divide videos. This is my favorite. I live in Spokane, actually going to come through Missoula next weekend. Going to do this route as soon as I can get enough time off. Good work dude.
Top notch video. The daily commitment to the time of dragging out the drone as well as al the other shots I'm guessing made a lot of those days longer.
Thanks Mark, sometimes it was certainly hard to stop and pull out camera but ultimately that was one of the main goals of the trip for myself. Thanks for the good vibes and compliment.
Matt, great meeting you on the route! Your video is nice and chill and reflects the effort you put in. It’s top shelf. Was really cool seeing Marian in the video, she truly is a bass ass. What’s your next adventure?
Great to meet you as well. That was cool you remembered the finger pow slashes. No big plans right now, looking forward to doing some skiing this winter. You have any bike touring plans?
This video was sooo rad. You're going places here on YT for sure. You're already going places in life, so you already won. May I ask about that collapsible bike stand you were using? Any info would be appreciated. Love for Pennsylvania
Hey Matt I am watching the movie again after watching yesterday great inspiration for me I want to get round to doing this one year in the future. Anyway just a quick question where do you get the collapsible bike stand I love it and I want one lol. Thanks for the insight into your trip and life. Sorry to hear about Nat but I’m sure he is with you always bro. John Manitoba
Watched many of the GDMBR route…so many amazing stopping places/towns and always hard to eat enough right ! What an experience! Have you plans for anything else or not ? 🙂👊🏻
Great question, I don't know though. She was VERY focused on dinner. There were about ten people on the other side of river taking pictures and there was pretty constant vehicle traffic behind me when I was shooting. GTNP is a different planet. Thanks @yumyumhungry
Nice video but for me personally i would like a little more narrative for instance the bit in the bike shop were you having a service.just little things like that would add more to the story.but great job 👍.
Thanks for the comment, I certainly made it a point to show rather than tell in every instance I could. Just a couple shots before the bike shot is a POV shot of me pulling out half of a stem bolt.
Hey Matt , noticed you used the quad lock iPhone rain cover too. I had to give up on it because it wouldn’t work with touch and my phone would go to sleep. Did you change your setting to keep phone from sleeping while using it?
I always had my phone set to go to sleep really fast to save battery. The main problem I found was that once the rain poncho is wet the touch screen doesn't work well.
Great film. Thx. One day I want to cycle the GDMBR and the Western Wildlands Route. I cycled coast-2-coast during W. Bush’s presidency, but I won’t do it during a Trump presidency. So I sure hope it gets better instead of worse…
LOL It actually is a memorial sticker for my friend Nat Wilson. His IG name is @natylight6 and two friends made stickers in his honor. Stoked to ride with them on my bike.
I’m in the middle of watching but I will forget if I don’t ask now. What kind of phone mount do you have? I am told quad lock will destroy your phone camera with all the bouncing. I figure, you have a goodie if you’re still singing this far in.
Millions of people use cannabis recreationally and medicinally. Maybe one barrier for some people thinking about doing this trip could be that they are concerned they wouldn't have cannabis on the trip. Seeing this edit people could see that is available along a large portion of the trip. I also wanted to show evidence against the old ridiculous stereotypes of "you're lazy and unmotivated if you smoke weed." The stigma associated with cannabis needs to dissolve.
@@wax_tracks Thanks for defending yourself on that person's comment. I've ridden half the route when I was 68, going to try again summer 2025. Was thinking I might try smoking a little even though I'm not an active pot user. At 71, with arthritis in hands, feet, and neck along with a list of broken stuff from life's adventures, maybe a little weed can help this time. I took your smoke-up and wine as light comedy. More like I need a break. As someone that has cycle toured across the U.S. three times, and once across EU, life out on the edge, and on the road is 90% mental work. Rain, snow, wind, cold, mud, mechanical problems, walking for miles, yeah, sometimes it is 99% mental work. Good job, most excellent production work.
@classicbuildersinc Yeah, but he finished the route averaging 50 miles per day off-road. Plus, he had a lot of filming gear and more weight than most riders. It is a killer route of climbing especially down through grizzly country and Colorado.
@@pedallinraw With the great footage, and drone shots so much more could have been done. The video just didn't keep me interested. The music was enough to put a person to sleep, and it did. Just not that inspiring.
What an adventure, thanks for sharing it with us.
Great video, thank you for sharing it! I don't normally watch longer-format videos on YT but this was an exception. Awesome.
Excellent, thank you @rankin90049, glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching.
