I was 11 years old when I heard the DeFranco Family song "Heartbeat" and liked it. But by the time I was 13 yr old I was listening to Led Zeppelin. Kids grow out of bubble gum fast. It has a very short shelf life!
Thank you for an update on the DeFranco Family. They came back to Canada a few years ago Tony and Benny for a reunion. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about it until local news reported it.😢 i hope that they will reunite one day.
Disco was only big in NYC in 1973 when the Defranco's hit it big. Disco went nationally a couple more years later. Same with Punk...it was only big in NYC and a maybe a couple more major cities in 1973. It is known, Lol! No disrespect to your commentary. Just helping to keep things factual. That was my era and I lived and breathed Rock, Pop and Disco Music in the 1970's. Radio, Records and Concerts was all I cared about.
maryreilly5092 You are correct. That was my era, too. Disco and Punk didn’t become a thing nationwide until the second half of the seventies, peaking around 1977-79.
My friend across the street at a gynormous fan on Tony. There was an unwritten rule that I wasn't allowed to like him, because she did. That was ok because I didn't have a crush on him. Neither did I particularly like David Cassidy. This all changed when I saw Tony De Franco on a documentary about 10 years ago. I thought, man is he hot. What did I miss? In 1973, Heartbeat is a Lovebeat burned out for me. It was played seemingly every third song on the radio. Then...nothing. It wasn't heard anymore. Occasionally I wondered what happened to the DeFrancos. I listen to Heatbeat/Lovebeat now and it brings back memories (good memories) of pre pubescence.
Thanks for checking out the video. I tried to find out as much as i could on everyone in the group. But the only person still in the spot light is Tony. I will continue to dig though!
I love that group .I love how they love each other as a family. Not all family's are that lucky. Tony grew into a really nice looking man and when he smiles u can see the same cute kid
This was the very first record I owned. You have no idea how long I have been searching for this album. I knew exactly what the picture showed, but never remembered the name. I will admit I forgot they are a family, and I could have sworn it was a boy band, but once I accidentally saw the picture. It WAS the one I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for covering this. I loved them when I was younger! I remember seeing them at six flags! It was wonderful. Then all of a sudden they were gone one day. I always wonder what happened to them. They made my younger days wonderful!!!
They had their day in the sunshine. I loved Marissa, the one who didn't pony tail her hair. She was soooo hot!!! My favorite song of theirs was "Abracadabra".
Thank you for the update. Often wondered what happened to the DeFranco family. I knew Tony was into real estate, but didn't know about the rest. And it was Marisa DeFranco for me, even if she was older.
Cotton Bowl Ft. Worth Texas 1973. Bob Hope OSU Tour- 50 Star Studded Event 72000 attendees. First to perform 1.De Franco Family. 2. Brady Bunch 3. The Osmands with Sister 4. The Partridge Family 5. The Jackson 5 with young Micheal J. Your right about family bands, qiut amazing when I think about it all...❤
The president of the record company and the head of Tiger Beat magazine wanted Tony to go solo. And when he wouldn't and he wanted the family to stay together as a family the president of Tiger beat stopped promoting them and they lost their popularity.

I live in Port Colborne, Ontario where the Defranco Family is originally from.
I love the De Francos!!! I hope they get 50th anniversary special for Heartbeat it's a Love Beat!
I was 9 years old when I used to play this record over and over my siblings threw my record against the wall

I’d forgotten about that unwritten rule ( our friends and celebrity crushes.)
We treated it as though we were dating them, lol. 😂
I really loved this band and I still do. I miss them completely and would love them to give it another try. Miss you all
Tony DeFranco looked like Donny Osmond!
Personally, I think he was cuter
I used to think that too. As a teen I had huge crushes on both
I loved Tony DeFranco, Donny Osmond, not so much!
Their attorney was also employed by the record label. No wonder these kids were taken advantage of.
Wow, Tony DeFranco sure looks a lot like a young Donny Osmond here.
My favorite song then & to this day is Same Kind Of Love
They reminded me of the Osmonds. I didn't know they were Canadian.
Heartbeat was my first girlfriend's song.
Tony moved and dressed a bit like Elvis.
I still have the 45.. I loved that song
WOW that’s a name I haven’t heard in years !!
My big sister and I were huge fans
Oh man my friends and I our room were full with posters, 😍 tony was our favourite
Thank you for this!! I would love to know what each of them did after the band split. Would also Live to see what they all look like today 💜
Thanks for checking out the video. I tried to find out as much as i could on everyone in the group. But the only person still in the spot light is Tony. I will continue to dig though!
This is probably somewhat current but not sure of what year it's from. i.ytimg.com/vi/lsC1dde9hrc/maxresdefault.jpg
Was in the 6th grade when this song came out
I was in 7th

I was a big fan of the DeFranco family I still hear their songs on UA-cam and that was interesting I liked them all

Great love your videos

Dang, the sisters were so pretty. And have grown up to be beautiful ladies...
My favorite was Marissa. But they were both hot.
Great documentary…
Great job on this video! Thank you for this.
Tony DeFranco was essentially Seventies Justin Bieber
No Tony isn't a criminal like Justin

A good looking family.
I know Tony DeFranco has gotten even better looking with age, and he was adorable then. Lol.
I love the DeFranco family I have all the albums and signed never to be out of my stereo.
wHO DO i LOVE? K-Billy's Super Sounds of the 70's
I still have the Heartbeat 45!
❤I LOVED the De Franco's!❤

Who do i love Tony DiFranco, Donny Osmond, Justin Bieber, and many more that will never know.
A Donny Osmond KO
They tried too much to make Tony the front man of the band. Although the lead singer, they all should have been featured as members of a family group.
The worst dancers ever but I loved them in their day!
so, Pretty much the entire where are they now comes from wikipedia. Tony is very active on facebook updating just what they are doing
Quintet, not "Quartet".
As seen here on the footage, I see the DeFranco had fame thrust on them too much, too soon, something many people couldn't handle, including me.
Many times in life you only get one shot at stardom. Hire your own lawyer.
TigerBeat was a magazine for teeny boppers. There was little (or nothing) for real rockers.
As shown on 7:54 what song is that called?
Quintet not Quartet....get it right....
they came in on a tail spend on the j5 Osmonds erra got lost in the mixs and could not hold it down
Good try.
Lol
Wonderful video! So well done! Loved it! Loved hearing their story!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
I am sorry but they were horrible I still can’t listen to them today.
You don't have to be sorry. It's your ears and not your personal taste in music. All good!
Your comment" ridiculous!
i wouldnt say horrible but they weren't very good. But Tony was a cute kid and it just goes to show you cute goes a long way.
Then..why are you here in the first place? Why did you click on this vid if you think they are so horrible?
