Hi knitting Man, I found out about your channel because of the Beavis and Butthead show featured this video in the last new episode. Your works look amazing! Can’t wait to watch more 😊
March 2022 my granddaughter and I went to Cornwall and visited Mt St Michael. We stayed in a B&B that had a view of the castle, ate in the pub at the end of the street and I had a lovely time.
I have to thank Mike Judge for getting me here. I just saw the video tonight, and knew I had to follow you. I love your work, and am inspired to try fairisle. Your work is GORGEOUS!! Thank you! ps. In our home, we consider any attention from Mike Judge high praise.
"It's just a stitch." "Now you have the keys to the kingdom." I loved the slow pace of your video. Although you're obsessed, you're not frantic. Very relaxing to listen to. You make beautiful things. Hello to the knitting widow from a mechanics of telescopes and obsevatory domes widow. Last night I heard the characteristics of hundred year old cylindrical roller bearings.
Hi Vera, Thanks for the feedback, just listening to your own voice is strange when you start so it's good to know that it comes across OK. That sounds wonderful, telescopes and observatory domes. Jo says hello back. Thanks Gary
This is amazing. There are so few men like me who love to knit. Your work is absolutely superb and for the first time I no longer feel like I'm alone in this endeavor. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and passion with all of us.
Hi Andrew Thank you so much! It is a joy to share what I do with others and if I can inspire viewers to develop there skills and maybe take a few risks that would be great. Gary
Look, up there! It's somebody cool! Somebody I want to hang out with! No, It's Knitting Man. The Knitting Man is a star now. He's been teased by Beavis & Butthead.
Hi Susan thank you I am passionate about the craft and want to share my enthusiasm, and Jo believes that I do good work and is very supportive, for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you for watching.
I’ve read how people are familiar with you from Instagram. I’m so thrilled that you have come to UA-cam. Many of us out there just can not add any more screen time to our lives. So, thank you.

Just discovered your channel thanks to the Beavis and Butthead show. Those two dumb kids may find you boring, but not me! Your color work looks amazing!
I like your episode however you do it. It's original. The knitting widow is lucky. I want a guy who knits. Let's face it, I want a guy and I'd like him to be a knitter, a reader and a good cook. Just found your channel so will keep watching then oldies. Thanks for being here.
Im so glad you decided to do youtubes - I do not go on Instagram at all anymore, so now I can see what you are doing - all the wonderful things! Ha ha I had not heard SABLE before! WOW those moths!!! that is a great way to carry the color yarn, thank you for sharing!! I liked everything you both did here it was excellent, inspiring and so interesting!!
@@theknittingman6443 I told The Woolly Thistle store/podcast here in USA about your podcast so I hope they mention you so that you get more US viewers!
Hi Gary Ray Smith, regards from Santiago Chile. I just met you in youtube and I am enchanted with your knitting and your handling of colors. Finally men are showing their skills that until recently were exclusively attributed to women. When my dentist went through a depression period due to the separation and divorce from his wife, I offered him to teach him to knit because it is such great mental health keeper without psychiatric care and without pills...and he loughed and loughed...and I thought "what an ignorant and he does not know what he is missing and enjoying"
Hi from St.Ives! I can't remember when I didn't knit and like you have a stash of wool that I won't use in my lifetime . Luckily I have Daughters and Granddaughters to leave it to . I used to knit picture jumpers in the 80's and 90's on a computerized knitting machine. I drew the designs on a mylar sheet but was limited to 60 St's wide unless it was a repeating pattern . I love the tip for floats and enjoyed your first video.
Hi Sue we are hoping to film our next travels with my yarn in St Ives next week if the weather cheers up a bit. I hope you enjoy the other 4 episodes that we have made. Thanks Gary
Your mind must work very differently to mine! I really love your design, your knitting work (I knit English style too), and the way you present. Keep on knitting!
Hi Deborah, It's Jo .Thank you for your kind comments! As of today there will be 14 podcasts in total! We hope you have time to view them and enjoy them! many thanks Jo
It took a while to get around to watching this one, after so many of the other vids today. I don’t know how YT didn’t suggest you to me earlier since Ive been on here gah.. I’m smitten with everything you do, Gary.. and the idea of hanging out surrounded with yarn, wips, so many gorg colours, and knitting 24/7.. definitely my ideal. Love. ❤️.. oh, and “cheeky lil’ knit”.. so precious..
How I wish I had seen your video earlier, my daughter had asked for a vintage jumper with bluebirds across the front. Tried and tried but just couldn’t get it right , knitted in 3 ply , tension was awful 😣 I’m going to try again with your method and see how I go . Originally from Liverpool I now live in Sydney and your video was posted onto a Facebook Knitting group . I will enjoy catching up on your other videos. Cheers

I am in awe. Amazing talent and you are so humble about it. Goes to show what a person can achieve when they have a passion and put in the hours. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks for sharing your story. Your drawings and patterns are beautiful. On the part of the video when you were showing how you trap the stitch. It was hard to see because the yarn was dark, and there wasn't a lot of light on that area. Can you do another take with lighter yarn and better lighting. If you have done so already can you direct me to that video. Thank you😊
Found you on Facebook where someone shared your post..I knit with one yarn on left hand and one on right and carry my yarn same way as you do as far as floats..I don't wait till 3 stitches in to carry my floats either.
Hi Debbie, That's good because I don't really do facebook so any sharing on there is a massive bonus. You knit continental, it's all good there's no wrong or right way in my opinion, only choices, and what works best for you. Gary
Hello. Your work is absolutely beautiful. I am a 53 year old taking up knitting, and look at videos of masters like yourself and then look at my attempts to knitting and feel like laughing and sometimes crying. I loved your first video and I will be watching them all for sure. Thank you for sharing your stunning work with us.
WOW! Awesome designs... I'm sure you can have a professional translate your designs into the written form. I can't read them 😅 it's very foreign to me, but I like your picture version. It makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing your talents. Wishing you and your wife many happy years 😊
I only just found you and I'm so glad it's Ep 1 - how could I not subscribe, Wow you are just so talented. Oh heck I've just seen a video entitled "why I've stopped knitting" I'm off to watch that in a minute. Loved the video of St Michael's Mount - I could almost smell the sea : ) We used to go to Cornwall a lot when I was a child (it was an all day journey from Brum then : ) ) but I've lived in Australia for many years now. Thank you for a bit of nostalgia.
😯😮😯😮😯😮...... I'm hooked❣️ I absolutely loved that video. You're so talented and calm! .... Thank you for letting me hold the keys to your kingdom!! You made me feel that anything is possible with a simple knit and purl stitch. ❣️🤞👍
Hi Gary 👍...... Thanks for reply. I only found your first video yesterday.....I subscribed straight away! The rest of your episodes popped up! So I'm now indulging myself and getting lost in your creativity....Lol 🙂....I hope to have worked my way through them over the next few days. 😊👍 Thanks again for taking the time to share your knitting knowledge and experience. 👍🙂 I can't wait to see how your channel develops.👌👋👋
Hi Gary, this is great! I'm new to knitting and it's been interesting hearing how you learned. Me and my husband have been talking about this - how did people pre-internet learn all this stuff? I'm heavily reliant on videos. His mum was a knitter and we guess most people of her generation had a human library around them 😊
WOW. YOU are very TALENTED. Your story of how you learned to do the drawing part with the homemade graph paper was telling me how much you really wanted to learn the CRAFT. GENIUS!! You are very interesting. I crochet but I love to listen to you and see your GORGEOUS DESIGNS. Keep them coming. ❤😊Carol
Thank you so much for your channel. Your work is stunning! The knitting widow did a fantastic video job 👍👍😁😁 I have visited St Ives and parts of Cornwall in the past and it's a beautiful part of the country. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. 😀😀
@@theknittingman6443 I was disappointed it was over... it's really interesting to hear about your journey (especially as our beginnings weren't that far apart) and seeing how you work and what and where you create. So pleased that you've been courageous and given it a bash...I reckon you'll be deluged with subscribers...that's what I hope anyway as you really deserve it.
Hello from Canada! I just discovered your videos after I tried to do a hat with some color changes. I did a great job on the front of the work, but the back had too many loose threads so I pulled it all out and I am going to start again. I love your work and thankyou so much for the great videos.
Thank you so much! It is all techniques that anyone can learn and that is the aim of the channel. In episode 3 that will go live today I introduce my daughter Pansy who I am going to train to my level.

Hi Yes I think I do in episode 2 or I have also done a 3 minute short video here - ua-cam.com/video/STolc03Pnwc/v-deo.html
Gary
Such a neat work. Beautiful
Thanks so much 😊
That is one jaunty tune!
Love it !!
Hi Rosemary Thank you! Gary and Jo

Hi Eva! Thank you! 😊 it is early days for our podcast but we have got lots to share in future episodes.
You are an amazing knitter!
Hi Patty, Thank you! 😊 Gary
Thanks Shabnam That is just how I felt when I started - enjoy your journey it takes persistance and time but it will be worth it - Gary
LOVE your work and color choices! Am off to binge watch the rest of your videos!
Hi Robin, Thanks so much 😊Glad it was helpful! I hope you enjoy the other 7 episodes we have for you to view. Thanks Gary
Wow Gary awesome work how inspiring! 🤩👌
Hi Angelau Welcome! So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Gary and Jo
😯😮😯😮😯😮...... I'm hooked❣️ I absolutely loved that video. You're so talented and calm! .... Thank you for letting me hold the keys to your kingdom!! You made me feel that anything is possible with a simple knit and purl stitch. ❣️🤞👍
Thank you Maggie, Yes remember you rule the stiches! Have you seen the other 4 episodes yet? Gary
Hi Gary, new subscriber, wowzers your knitting is fabulous and I want to be like you when I grow up, lol, looking forward to the next episode.
Hi Emma Glad it was helpful! I hope you enjoy the other 7 episodes we have for you to view. Thanks Gary
Hi Gary, this is great! I'm new to knitting and it's been interesting hearing how you learned. Me and my husband have been talking about this - how did people pre-internet learn all this stuff? I'm heavily reliant on videos. His mum was a knitter and we guess most people of her generation had a human library around them 😊
Hi Susan you can't beat a book! So glad you are taking up knitting. Welcome! Thanks Gary
❤😊Carol
Thank you! x
Thank you so much for your channel. Your work is stunning! The knitting widow did a fantastic video job 👍👍😁😁 I have visited St Ives and parts of Cornwall in the past and it's a beautiful part of the country. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. 😀😀
Thank you so much! I hope you have found and are enjoying the other 4 episodes, Gary
Just saw this on the new Beavis and Butthead and I had to follow. Very talented sir. Congrats.
Hi Allen Welcome! Thank you! It was an honour to be ridiculed!😂
I just saw this on Beavis and Butthead
Great to meet you and thanks for the no floats tutorial! Looking forward to the next episode :)
Welcome aboard! Glad you enjoyed it !
Verry interessant! Love and greetings from the Netherlands!
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you, Love and greetings from Cornwall back to you, Gary and Jo
That flew by! Over much too soon. Looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks, that's interesting you are the first person to suggest it could be longer. We were unsure about how long to make it.
That was a great video! Now I have to go thru your videos!
Binge watching a bunch of your episode today (just subscribed) and came here to say, I am loving the sharing and tips and stories 👏🏾
Hi Brownberry Welcome aboard! Jo and Gary
This is it chief.
Thank you!
Hello from Canada! I just discovered your videos after I tried to do a hat with some color changes. I did a great job on the front of the work, but the back had too many loose threads so I pulled it all out and I am going to start again. I love your work and thankyou so much for the great videos.
Hello! Thank you for your kind comments xIt means a lot to us x
Your knitting is amazing! Your colour work is the most intricate I have ever seen.
Thank you so much! It is all techniques that anyone can learn and that is the aim of the channel. In episode 3 that will go live today I introduce my daughter Pansy who I am going to train to my level.
Love this and so interesting. Thanks to you and the Knitting Widow. Kindest regards from N Ireland xx
Thanks Bandit, You are so welcome! thank you for watching
Hello Gary and Mrs. Smith from a new fan in Southern California! Loved your video and seeing the lovely Cornish countryside and the sea coast. I've seen and admired the shows Gary mentioned, read Daphne DeMaurier and loved Poldark!
Your knitting designs are beautiful, intricate and inspiring. Keep up the great videos.
Hi Liz, Thanks so much, we hope you enjoy the other 7 episodes as well, Gary and Jo
