Bigfoot: Photographic Evidence and Environmental Awareness

  • While my Illustrator and I work on a massive project, I had to dip into the vaults to put something together in the interim. This video is about the odds of capturing quality photographic evidence of bigfoot, and a little narrative about environmental awareness.
The photo part is to illustrate why documenting an encounter may not be as easy as many would suggest. And the narrative is about environmental awareness, and gives insight into the capacity of thought that you and I (and perhaps something else entirely) are capable of.
I'm not in love with this video. Usually I only post videos if I'm more fond of them than I am of this one, but seeing as I'm knee deep in a many-moons project, I figured something is better than nothing. I hope you get something out of it!
    Thank you.

I found that a Sasquatch is actually willing to expose itself in certain situations. I personally saw one cross the train tracks in front of me in broad daylight only 10ft away. I quickly deduced that it was crazy hot that day and was desperate to get water. I live in southern B.C. and the last few years have been HORRIFIC record breaking heat! (47c Averaging 35c) It had no choice but to cross the tracks to reach this small patch of woods that was the only cover between the tracks and the creek. I was alone so the risk was worth the reward. All it had to do was do its business then wait in that patch until it got too dark and uncomfortable for me to wait it out any longer. I did eventually leave out of frustration (and a dying cellphone left on record) it can go back on its marry way up the mountain. EVERYTHING is methodically planned out with these creatures. Even the ones that you think may have slipped up and get filmed. Btw This thing was also an adolescent no bigger then me under 6ft but knew exactly what to do. Makes you wonder if age is even a factor? Hardwired. Instincts.

    • @heox123
      @heox123 2 роки тому +14

Their ability in the woods is pretty much instinctual, and it makes sense, given that the bigfoot species ( or genus, or whatever is above it) has spent its whole existence in the woods. Just like how we learn to talk and walk while were still babies, bigfoots learn all those things at a similar age and then practice it at every moment of their lives, because they live in the woods, sorrounded by local fauna and the occasional human that ventures that far.
At a small scale that were acquainted with, think cats and their ability to not make a sound and remain well hidden in a variety of scenarios. A much smarter, more elusive and comparably stealthy creature would really be the ruler of the forest, and everything that happens within its territory he would know happened. Chillz

I would imagine that when people go walking in the woods, the Sasquatch are aware of our presence up to a few miles away, because we unintentionally do things that make changes in the environment, like the sudden chirping of birds, the movement of animals ( like deer ) and giving off the smell of soap, shampoo and deodorant. By the time people walk by the location of the Sasquatch, they become very well hidden using camouflage.

Hell I learned how to track damn near any animal by the age of 18. Hence the reason im the guy thatalways has to "find my deer for me man" to think any intelligent hominid that is in there natural habitat and in a very familiar area wouldn't notice even the smallest difference in anything. You don't have to believe me, but the woods around me that I frequent - separate forests, mind you - have these guys in them, and if you leave so much as a pop can out there, they'll use it to mark the trail you took; kind of a, "this can, this guy, this trail" sort of thing. I've even found "deer trails" that parallel actual deer trails, and they're marked with stones the same way _my_ trails end up being marked with cans; the deer won't/don't/didn't use these trails.
So, they definitely know exactly what goes on in their living room.

The animals move around, the lighting is usually not great, and I have a crappy cell-phone camera. Amateur wildlife photographer here. To add on this, if the subject is not used to human presence (animals in the wilderness vs city parks) it's astonishingly difficult to get clear shots-even of relatively common animals like ducks, ravens, foxes, rabbits, deer, etc. As soon as they know you're there (which may be well before you realize their presence), they flee away from you as fast as possible. A great ape that does not want to be seen would be nearly impossible to photograph clearly.

I heard theories that it's easier to film bigfoot when you're on horseback because smell of a horse overpowers that of a human.
    1) be on horseback
    2) be freshly bathed and use smell suppressors\absorbers on yourself, perhaps some medication can be used to suppress human smell further
    3) wear hecs em-shielding hunting suit, those are proven to be great at getting closer to game
    4) wear a gillie suit over it to conceal your silhouette (especially shoulders and head)
    5) pick a bigfoot hotspot that is relatively colder compared to surrounding area in the summer (like mountain valleys), furry giants gravitate to those for little extra comfort
    6) have a auto-stabilized camera with massive optical zoom read on your saddle
    7) probably don't come alone and have your overwatch friend come armed
    8) establish handsigns beforehand and don't speak
    9) put action cameras on your horse facing every direction, for later analysis in case you miss something
    10) good idea to have IR camera too because it's hard to fake thermal imaging of a clothed person (like in a monkey suit) and wild furry animal. It would also help with identifying the target that stays still to make you doubt your eyes
That sounds like an expensive undertaking for a hobby and would probably still require months in the field to yield successful footage.

I make it all the way to the end of every video you produce, Mr. Gymlan. You do yourself a grave injustice by underestimating your propensity to create content that is both entertaining, and (more importantly), intellectually engaging. On another note, I grew up in the lovely and un-replicable woods of the Sierra Nevada foothills in mid-northern California. Prime real estate for two (pertinent) things, in my opinion: first, it encouraged me, in my friend-scarce youth, to entertain myself by either staring at endless hallucination-inducing squiggles, or alternately roaming the vast and beautiful wilderness that was my backyard, shirtless and carrying some scant defense, usually in the form of either a home-fabricated spear made from a knife blade, straight sapling trunk, and some paracord, or when I grew to be a little older, whatever sword I had most recently acquired as a result of my lifelong obsession with medieval history and such. Second, it’s a great place to live, even just biologically speaking. In the countless hours I spent out there, in what some would describe as also being a near perfect place for hominids to live relatively comfortably (at least the local Nisenan people once thought so, before the Anglo-American flood of the California gold rush), I never once saw anything that I would consider all that unusual or out-of-place in any way that would be relevant to your channels subject matter, but I did encounter more times than I can count or reliably remember, areas and/or times when I felt something was intrinsically “off,” in such a way that it caused me no small amount of unease and fear. Enough to send me back home as quickly as my bare feet would take me while avoiding a broken ankle or the like. I’m of the opinion that my familiarity with the landscape in which I spent most of my time led me to pick up on things that a hunter or tracker would consider notable, but to me simply registered subconsciously as either denoting the presence of a predator, or at least a threat, that my conscious mind wasn’t quite capable of perceiving. So yes, I think you’re absolutely right about potential other hominids having the ability to naturally and effectively pick up on what they would consider a threat, and swiftly react to it in whatever way it considered to be effective. If I could do it subconsciously as a child, they could certainly do it, with countless generations of conditioning and practice. As an afterthought, most of what I was picking up on that caused me to be uneasy was probably nothing, although there are plenty of bear and mountain lion in the area. I’ve seen many personally. And that’s just the ones I was aware of. But who’s to say that way out in the pine and cedar woods, away from any major urban centers, where there are still plenty of natural resources and endless tracks of wilderness devoid of human presence most of the time, there couldn’t possibly be a genetic neighbor of ours that most people have never seen and that most people would consider to be a myth, couldn’t quite happily carry out their lives in relative peace and comfort? I certainly think there could be such a creature. Anyway. Good work, as always, Bob. And thanks for reading.edit: gymlan. Stupid auto-correct, don’t you know a proper noun when you see one? Phssssssshhhhhh....🤨

Fricken blown away! This may very well be my favorite video of Mr. G's in a long time. Just the round about yet genius way he went in detailing his hypothesis using his college experience is insightful. His examples of pics taken under the best of circumstances showing how difficult it can be to get a clear photo of any primate proved an undeniable point. Primates do tend to look like characters such as Chewbacca or puppets to start with. He is absolutely correct about the videos or photos you have people will always scream hoax. Look at the film of Patty as a prime example. Given the clarity of that film to me it is absolutely real. Especially given the date it was taken, the technology the public had access to etc yet still that film to many is a "hoax".

Two clip go on this litter box I was cleaning and first I always take them off, put them in one hand and then set them down together SO I KNOW RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE lol but one time one clip disappeared for like an hour or two then reappeared. I’m very particular, doing things in the most efficient manner as to save time so I KNOW for a fact it disappeared. I even asked someone else if they could see a black clip (on light cream colored carpet) to ensure it wasn’t me. I wasn’t frantically looking or even super concerned and the person I asked even less so so I can rule out those theories.

Just thinking - as a woodsman myself, I know how easy it is to not only lose yourself, but lose others in the woods. Never mind of they're trying not to be caught, and are trained in survival, tracking, and/or evasion. And we are definitely not the best adapted to those environments. There are examples of people living secluded or hidden for years, so the idea that a creature could evade us - given they understand cameras or aiming as other primates do, it's a convincing thought.

And if it's an area you frequent, you definitely notice that missing paperclip of a particular stick on the ground. You even notice if it's just laying at a slightly different angle. My girlfriend makes fun of me, and expresses awe that someone who notices so much detail out in the wild, can be rather abysmal sometimes when it comes to finding the thing on the other side of the room that she's pointing at, and asking to be brought to her. It shouldn't be that surprising... It's where I spend most of my time. And as I said in my last comment, I don't think any of us are really thinking that you're not hard at work or anything like that.. hopefully, most of us are able to understand that there's a lot of work that goes into channels like this especially with quality shit like yours.. so things take time. Regardless of how long it took, I'm just glad we got a new video!

I agree with you, It is extremely difficult to take a picture that is good enough to be sufficient as evidence and no matter how good the photo is, there would always be someone who thinks it's a fake

Bob: You've been found guilty of stealing a beer. Your punishment: 60 minutes of Bigfoot lore.
    The guy: Nooo!

Don't worry about having to upload videos as fast as possible, take your time. Quality over quantity. We'll enjoy them, regardless of how long they take to come out. Keep up the good work!😊

You undersell the quality of this video. It was brilliant!

You nailed it, Bob. As a naturalist and wildlife photographer, I can say for sure. The wild ones, whether bird or mammal know we are there. It can take 100hrs and 1000's shots to get that perfect, magazine-worthy image, especially of shy, intelligent animals that can only be located after doing lots of research. When you do stumble, unexpectedly across the path of an animal (like most sasquatch encounters) it takes learned muscle memory to set your camera parameters to adust for lighting, focus, ISO, Fstop, shutter speed to get good, clear shots before the animal flees, it happens in seconds and this JUST still shots.
As for filming footage, that is a whole different level of skill. I'm 100% sure of the existence of 'undiscovered' bipedal mammals across the planet. I've had experiences myself with things I can't explain. The definitive proof is near I'm sure. It won't be coming from camera traps and such. Forest mammals soon become wary of the infrared beams. Intelligent beings like the big guys would locate them easily as the visual spectrum would be evolved for night vision. I believe proof will come from either official disclosure or more likely a high-level, authoritative whistle blower. The special service guys know for sure, I've spoken confidentially to a few myself. Including a Colonel in the Gurkhas whom I've worked with on projects, he trained the elite in the Himalayas and served in Afghanistan. The military know 100%
Keep up the good work, I'll be keeping an eye out for your Big project
