Looks like a lovely bit of kit. Wondering, with what seems like a good clearance in the new frame and soft back plate eyelets, why KT didn't go for a T-nut (barrel nut) to use the existing short bolts and retain the warranty. At M8 (pure guess) they are around £5 in A2 stainless from a very good online supplier. Obviously I could be talking rubbish. 👍
    Great video.

Having seen this stand in person.....it looks extremely well made. Kent tooling really make some very high quality products.

For warranty issues, wouldn't it be easier to just let an authorized service tech install the bolts, I can't see extended bolts being a warranty voiding issue since it doesn't extend further back into the operational section of the unit. Then again, I've never had to modified in warranty equipment.

Is a service text going to modify your unit for you? Who knows 🤷 If they will, then that’s gravy 👍

As I said in the video pal, you’ll need to drop Kent Tooling a line for pricing including delivery. Sales@divingproducts.co.uk

    Kent tooling make great kit!
However, given the price of the Horizon, I'm appalled by the plastic design AND that Mares didn't design the unit to stand up on it's own! Have they never seen divers and dive boats in real life?
The threaded plastic back seems awful, surely (given the price of the unit) they should have moulded brass or stainless thread inserts into the unit?
I like the idea of the Horizon but the pricing is maddness, its 90% of the AP valves CCRs and they are far more complex beasts and don't limit one to 40m.

Hmmm… what you see as a drawback I see as a bonus! I didn’t want a full CCR and I like the plastic as that’s what means I can chuck it straight in a suitcase and head off on my hols. It’s stupid light compared to anything else I’ve come across and it’s holiday portability was deffo a pro for me. You’re right that it should have come with a stand or been designed to stand well on its own, but I don’t know what constraints were on the development team. Price is always subjective I guess. It’s the right unit for me and is still 50% cheaper than a new CCR ( and I bought mine new) which I wouldn’t get most use out of and presents risks the Horizon doesn’t and as I normally only dive to recreational depths anyway as I explain in my CCR banned video, this unit does what I need it to and I’m happy with it. I’d be happier if Mares finally updated the software with the compass, pods and other functionality they promised though. Maybe another video on that later… Thanks for the comment and hopefully I’ll see you out on a dive soon!

@UKDiver Saw your other video about ccr after and totally agree with your conclusions. Though I'm happy with my own decisions, I'm also fine with friends who choose to dive yellow deathboxes. Each person makes has their own choices in this life.
Just to clarify, I don't mind the plastic at all - it is the idea of threading plastic that I disapprove of. Plastic threads will strip over time, and embedding metal threads should not have increased the price or weight.
As to the price, £5k for a Horizon compared to £6.5k for an Inspiration, just seem a lot for a substantially simpler system.
I honestly don't understand the pricing. If it had been £2-3k I think it would be the future, but as it stands, I think it's too expensive. Clearly everyone's mileage will vary on this one though.
