    Hi Andy, really interested in SCRs , Mares horizon, although I am advanced level diver only with more than 120 dives. Is it possible to book a test dive with The ROHO for testing the Mares Horizon ? I am Flying to Newcastle, and to South Shields next month mid.

    Have seen a few ccr. But can they mass produce ccr . They seem to be to expensive at this time . I dont see them ever replacing open circuit on a large scale. Like the technology though.

    Agree, also I thinking to buy…but the difference between Poseidon 7 sport edition is only 600€. No, the question(s). Why should spend 5000€ for a SCR that can never be use below 40 when can start with a CCR and if decide CCR is for you just upgrade the unit. If not …continue to use for recreational.
    Why they didn’t design a SCR that can be use also for trimix? Not for 100m but at least up to 60m. Save some money on gas, also not complicate and can access a lot of nice dive site for wrecks.
    I think the idea of this SCR is to attract people to Revo CCR…

      Hey Ovidiu. For me there is one big difference you’re missing between the two systems. The SCR doesn’t kill you if the solenoid fails! Safety is the number one difference between this unit and a full blown CCR. Now before you get all keyboard warrior on me, just wait until I release the video I promised in the first of this series and I’ll explain my reasons for not going the CCR route 👍

      @@UKDiver thx for reply. Yes, on safety issue I am totally agree, also I have same problem with CCR, to complicate system, the only one that I take in consideration was S7 due all safety futures incorporated. In the beginning (2019) I was very enthusiastic when Mares present Horizon, easy to maintain, light weiht for my knee, price was …let’s say OK (4500€ deco version and dissembling my twin set for bottles) but that increase due the inflation with 500€ 2 months ago. Personally I decide to wait until next year to see where economy goes. Or maybe 2024 😬😵‍💫….
      PS I live in EU so price are different, sorry by using €….

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
    How often does it "burb" itself?

      It’s a constant bubble really. 5ltrs per min are going in, so you have a little trickle all the time assuming your at the same depth. Obviously as you’re descending it will stop bubbling as the gas is used to fill the loop. Conversely, when you ascend more will come out as the gas expands 👍

    On the version 1 issue, did they have anything to say about the modularity or upgradability of the unit? I'm guessing you won't be the only one with such concerns, and knowing that discrete parts can be upgraded or replaced individually would seem a sensible way of reducing such concerns.

      Hey Nathan. Obviously firmware is updated regularly enough, but as for the rest of it, not really. As it’s all moulded, difficult to see how you can change anything really without changing everything if you get my meaning. Obviously there are some serviceable parts such as the ADV and solenoid, but the main case unit is moulded as one price by the looks of it.

    Great dive videos. Do have concerns about that plastic material getting bashed around on a boat. When I have been diving here in the UK. Gear does get some abuse.

    • @UKDiver
      @UKDiver  Рік тому

      Hey Jason. Yes, as I said in part one and this part 2, the robustness of the unit is a major concern and I specifically mention getting bashed whilst in a boat. Unfortunately, as I said, in a 30 minute try dive I just can’t say how it’s going to hold up long term 🤷

    Very nice vid but about the Hollis explorer you not rigth!!the explorer back then it was the best unit sccr (nitrox) unit..after how many years i dont remember the hollis stop the production but a german company bought all the stock parts units blueprints for parts etc even they do upgrade a lot of things in the unit and they do diving them today!! also cause is a bit old model you can find it very cheap to buy with a lot of parts!! if you asking me back then like 9 years ago when i saw the explorer i was ready to do it but likely i step back!!even today with mares is a NO..and there a lot of reasons..

    • @UKDiver
      @UKDiver  Рік тому +1

      Cheers for the info, but I stand by what I said. When they were first released, I saw lots of people diving the Explorer. I saw them at Capernwray, I saw people with them in St Abbs and the Farnes. Then, next season, I didn’t see one. And never did do again until I started diving with Kathy from North East Dive who up until earlier this year was diving one regularly. Kathy has swapped it out for… you guessed it… the Horizon!! So irrespective of what happened to the design, who bought what or when, the fact is, I don’t see them. I don’t see or know anyone still diving one today or who markets (not very well or at all) / sells them. So they haven’t been a raging success. This, I’m hoping will be. A better product, better thought out. Bigger brand, better support and hopefully enough sales to ensure longevity of the product 🤞

      @@UKDiver i keep commenting for the algorithm and not to argue with you..i think the main reason we dont see them so often is they moved to ccr most of them!!i dont see many reasons to spend that amount of money to go for sccr and ccr..but the double scrubber is a plus!!

      @@Mrveescuba as always Vee I appreciate the love! You’re absolutely right about the CCR thing, it does make sense on a lot of levels to go straight to CCR and there is a lot to be said for that. But I have my reasons for it wanting to go that route myself, which will probably get a lot of people in a froth with me, but hey… again that’s diving for you! Be good to catch up soon brother! Got some trips planned to crappers soon. Will drop you a line pal, must be my round for the cake 🍰! 👍😎

    Looks good .but for me it’s still the cost .Hopefully over time might be cheaper.Are they other dive companies that have made a similar design? Ok the tune is it Thomas the tank engine 😂
