is it just me or is the text on Elemental Inspiration confusing? i thought i read "summon a(as in 1) 4/5 Votex with a random bonus effect for each spell school you have cast this game" as in it only ever summon 1 4/5 Vortex but with multiple random effects based on numbers of spell school casts, but then its just a worse One-Amalgam Band? i even feel like the text could read as it summons a number of vortexes based on spell school cast AND gives them all bonus effect based on number of spell school cast
I agree, it's ambiguous, I also first read it as only the effects increasing on the one Vortex. I'm not sure I get that last reading you mention, though.
Elemental Inspiration is one of the few badly worded cards in heartstone. I read it as it'd summon one Vortex with as many special effects as casted spell schools instead of one Elemental per school and was wondering how bad it was ^^ Maybe because english isnt my foreign language
You're right, it's a little unclear. You COULD read it that way! A better way to phrase it would be.. "Summon a 4/5 Vortex with a random bonus effect. Repeat this for each spell school you've played this game."
@@alwaysorange4425 Yes. And that times are called "Loosing the game". That's why Vexallus did not work. 16 damage are not enough for an OTK. For just 16 damage you don't need to do all this shenanigans. Play Astalor and 2 Arcane Bolts that are 20 damage. And with Astalor you do not even make the mistake of filling your deck with bad cards that generate more bad card.
What happens if you have already cast every spell-school and you cast Discovery of Magic? Does it fizzle, or do you get a consolation coin or something?
In the same vein I wonder if it lets you choose from multiple of the same school if you cast 5 or 6 already. But it probably will just show 2 or 1 option in that case. And it probably doesn’t do anything once you’ve cast 7 spellschools
The gaia chill o matic combo is pretty meme but hey you can discount it by two with one seafloor getaway, so if you cast two it becomes a six mana combo, or even 5 with oscillator (probably still better to slap it on the shark)
what do you mean? EDIT: you must mean double the spell damage boost, though it sounds weird to phrase it like that since spell damage isn't a sif exclusive mechanic
Elemental Inspiration seems like a really weird payoff for Overeducated Mage: a control/combo deck doesn't really want to pay 7 mana to summon a bunch of 4/5s, and the spell doesn't have a school itself, so it seems hard to justify running it
Yeah "elemental", couldn’t they have somehow branded this a nature spell with different artwork then maybe? I think it’s reasonable and would be a new spell school for mage
Now, this where we see the card is badly written, cause the way I thought it works is that you get a single 4/5 with a bunch of keywords slapped onto it, kind of like a spell school One-Analgam Band
The way I read elemental inspiration is that you summon one elemental, with a bonus effect for every spell school, because if you're at 0 spell schools the card would do nothing. Idk if we've seen gameplay of it but it's pretty unclear wording
@@raphaelunger3057 yeah but if they wanted to word it correctly they should've said "For each spell school you've cast this game, summon a 4/5 Vortex with a random bonus effect." The multi spell school package for mage looks to be pretty good. You could easily fit the 3 main spell schools in an unspecialised deck. These payoffs are actually pretty great. As basically everyone else has said, elemental inspiration is terribly worded.
A lot of people seem down on Multi-School Mage (coining the phrase here and now!) but I think it's going to catch people off guard by how powerful it turns out to be.
It is a more convoluted version of the Vexallus deck. Which didn't work. Even the questline did not work and there you had only to cast 3 spell schools and had the hero card as support and it was still not good. There you could even better use the spell damage for board clear because you could not loss it other than with Sif. And losing Sif is losing your win condition. So I only see her being played like Vexallus. And therefor I can't see how that deck would be better than Vexallus, which was not a good deck at all.

People think these cards are bad? Am I the only person who has dealt with Mages randomly generating and/or automatically having played card’s multiple times a turn? Mage and Priest always have some super unfun and uninteractive deck show up
I highly doubt Spell School Mage will be meta. We do not have nearly enough actual Spell School card generators for the amount of pay off cards that have been printed. We only got 1 single reliable card generator in this expansion for the Archetype that printed 4 pay off cards. That's a really bad ratio. Molten Rune does not count as it's just a random spell, Mage already has enough of that, it's nowhere near consistent, it's even pretty bad as far as random spell generators go. Just generating random spells is not anywhere near good enough when you'll have to be consistently casting different spell schools atleast once every other turn for the deck to function.
On top of the same problems the Vexallus deck had. Not enough ways to deal with aggro and not enough damage to kill control, relying on drawing a single legendary, have 6 combo pieces in hand on turn 8+ and not being forced to use them to survive and don't having a tutor for them and a way too slow gameplan. The spell school deck on top is even more draw dependent and convoluted because it needs to get it's 4-5 spell schools before turn 10. AND the need of putting bad cards into your deck in order to get enough spell schools. So yes I don't get the hype behind that card/deck either.
@@drakmendoacause it tickles Mage's fantasy (atleast imo) for casting diffrent spells for a payoff. Hovewer, getting those unnatural Mage's schools will be very not worth it in the end probably (that spell damage card will probs still be run tho lol)
Sif is crazy OP, they should at least make it so that the spell schools only count torward the total when Sif is in your hand. You will reach at least 3-4 spell schools just by playing normally, with no effort. Plus mages can churn out low cost damage spells; this will be a problem and I bet it is nerfed.
@@edrueter9 You could do that before with Vexallus which even only costs 5 mana. And it still did not work. And that combo was much easier to get of than getting consistent 5 spellschools on turn 10 AND 4 arcane bolts AND Sif.
it looks very underwhelming 6 mana + you have to cast so many spells just for that? consider that your deck is going to be like 1/3 just spells that add to her value, but then also consider you need 4+ good 1mana;ish spells to dump damage into face, so you're left with at a minimum 15 cards +sif for this combo. Inquisitive Creation is actually a significantly better payoff than just spell damage while on board.
