The uniqueness of this game was unmatched. There were many mistakes made which led to its downfall but it is truly a beautiful creation that doesn't deserve the path it has gone down. Gave me some of the best moments I've ever had as a gamer.

@@romeda5156 if you had paddles on your Xbox controller it was waaaaaaaaaaaay easier, and if you’re on PC and have good general coordination you’d be fine. But it’s not welcoming for people who don’t pick up things as quickly, and can easily get frustrating. It’s not like going from call of duty to apex where it’s still a shooter, it’s a completely different experience that has entirely skillshots(no lock on abilities) which also makes it extremely difficult against decent players-but extremely rewarding when you win. Another reason I absolutely loved it.

To be fair, I always thought giving you every element out of the gate was a great idea. Felt like choosing a starter Pokémon, except you get them all.
Loved seeing what element newer players picked, and how their play-style took advantage of it.
Unlocking elements could have helped your previous issue of “one good player dominating” since whoever has the “better” gauntlet could snowball easier into victory.
Like imagine being stuck with fire or toxic, and someone can just use wind to climb a mountain to escape you, if you had no rune or talent to help your movement. May just be a wind player here trying to justify it’s insane movement potential.
All in all, this game will be sorely missed. Only under a month left before it’s gone. Currently getting all trophies on PS as a sense of goodbye. It would be awesome if everyone came together to play for its last day!

I learned about this game from Marcus back in the beta i think. I subbed to him on UA-cam, tuned into a lot of streams. Game was so amazing; really made you feel like badass to say the least. It kind of upset me that Marcus didn't mention the class: Stoneshaper. Lots of people at the time said that it was the most broken class in the game, but I felt that it was very balanced.
It would gain shields (up to a limit) upon hitting an enemy, and it would do very good damage. The cost of using the gauntlet though, would be that you could only hit people on the ground, so being in a game where players were in the sky constantly, it was a class of punishing, not engaging. The ability it came with was a boulder you could throw that would increase in size and damage based on travel time, and being able to slam to the ground faster than other classes made this element really unique.
I always loved combining the Stoneshaper Gauntlet with fire or ice.
Being able to lob a giant flaming meteor at the enemy that would explode and ignite players, or a frozen rock that would freeze players upon hitting them. It was so much fun...
The main attack for this gauntlet, as said before, would be a shockwave that would travel forward on the ground, this could also be ignited by the fire gauntlet or do major damage to frozen targets.
I was devastated to hear Spellbreak had to close down, but nonetheless I enjoyed my time playing the game, one of my top ten game of all time, and my favorite battle royale.
sorry for the rant, but thank you for reading

They have never experienced true death of a game where it is shut down and abandoned. It is a soul crushing horrible feeling and I hate that it's being downplayed. I'm sorry the game died man at least you enjoyed it while it was there

This game was gorgeous and fascinating, I looked forward to getting involved with it. It's a tragedy I missed out on such a creative endeavour with so much potential, it truly deserved to last.
The mechanics were reminiscent of Fable Three's sorcery, for me; my favourite aspect of that title; what a thrill to see what this game had to offer. Here's to hopes of a resurgence.

Truthfully a wonderful game during alpha it was so cool to see it evolve and grow the way it did, and of course I cherish every moment I had with the game, but I think the real crux of the game was in fact the epic exclusive, and what you mentioned in movement , compared to the early versions of the game it still does feel like moving in molasses I hope another game can come and do what spellbreak did or maybe even the revival of spellbreak, but I can only dream

fun fact, spell break started as an idea i always thought was neat: battle royale, but with swords, bows, and magic instead of guns and grenades. over time, apparently the magic system was the most fun to use, so they dropped the swords, bows, spears etc. and focused on the magic system.

I never got into Spellbreak because at the time of its release it was "Just another battle royale" to me. I had gotten so burnt out by the genre's over saturation that if a game was a BR I just straight up didn't care about it. Looking back at the game and also giving this video a look made me realize that viewpoint wasn't really fair. You're absolutely right that there will likely never be another game like Spellbreak, and I do regret not giving it a shot...

This saddens me... My friends and I picked up the game on release and played it every few months, and then as quarantine ended we couldn't play often. We played again for the first time in a while and my pal and I decided to play Spellbreak until the others joined the call we saw the closing message and paused.
For a good 5 minutes, we just sat and stared. I can't speak for my friend obviously but it kinda confirmed my biggest fears that as we grow older we'll only get more distant since we can no longer find time to game. I've been playing with these guys since I was 9 and this game while it wasn't our favourite it was big enough to leave a lasting effect on me. I can't play any other battle royale for longer than 30mins without thinking about Spellbreak giving me more freedom and making me actually think about what I'm doing.
It sucks... This game was great, flawed, but great. Hopefully, Blizzard listens to you and does something with this IP but I don't know if I trust Blizzard with Spellbreak, especially after Overwatch 2.

I was an early adopter like you, and I remember that after I took a break from the game with my brother, optimization and MM was what killed it for us. At some point, my brother couldn't run the game so smoothly and so do I and combining it with the lack of match making, meant that after a short time we said let's wait till they fix the optimization.
Then we came back to a game that ran better but empty lobbies. I was also hoping that I will be able to grow as a creator but because of IRL stuff couldn't make it a reality.
I really wanted this game to succeed T.T.
Also because the game was so long in public beta contributed to this issue.

This is why playing some games is really hard cause we invest so much time into it. Just for it to close sometime down the road and it's like that time was wasted somewhat, also if the player is a cash shopper that likes to buy mounts/skins you just wasted a lot of money. This is especially true for mmorpg games. I myself had over 500 hours in spellbreak and was also sad to see it was closing.

This game was an absolute gem!!❤️ I’ve been playing since launch and as someone who’s a big nerd for magic, powers, mages, & things of that nature this game has always wowed me for its concept and how well they were able to nail it!! It deserved/deserves SO much better. I REALLY hope this game makes a resurgence and it’s backed by ppl who know how to run a good battle royale. The concept of battle mages with elemental magic powers in a battle royale is just TOO good of a concept and the gameplay was SO clean. Here’s to hoping if it’s not revived SOMEONE will pick up this concept and expand upon it further and give us cool designs, more magic, and cooler maps. #RIPSPELLBREAK💖

I remember my first match was played in duos and both my teammate and I died in mere seconds without even seeing who hit us, it was disheartening to say the least and the idea that I tried to jump in several times over the course of 6 months or so and nothing ever changed was another hit to my desire to play

I love this game so much, I feel like it filled a gap that I was yearning for during the battle royale era. But from the get go it was very apparent that the game's potential was being held back by BR.
This game needed to have a dedicated duel mode from the very beginning, because every single game of BR I ever played was just 85% running around for loot, 10% killing bots and 5% meaningful gameplay.
It got to the point where it was vert easy to go on ridiculous winstreaks because every single lobby would just be bots and the same 5-6 good players that are playing at the time.
    RIP to a great one.
