  • With its mighty jumbo body style, solid-top construction, stunning cosmetic features and premium electronics, the GJ72CE-12 is a commanding acoustic/electric 12-string guitar that is built to perform. Featuring a solid spruce top and flame maple back and sides, the GJ72CE-12 produces all the lush, robust sound that players expect from a jumbo 12-string guitar. The slim maple neck and 12"-radius bound laurel fingerboard provide great feel and playability, while the onboard Takamine TK-40D preamp system gives you a built-in tuner, three-band EQ and gain controls, mid contour switch, notch filter and EQ bypass switch for the ultimate in versatility and sound quality. Other great features include a synthetic bone nut and split bridge saddle, black walnut headcap, abalone rosette, abalone "reversed mountain" inlay at the 12th fret, gold die-cast tuners with pearl buttons, and a beautiful gloss finish.

    I purchased my Takamine GJ72CE 2 years ago and enjoy it more every time I play it. It stays in tune all day and sounds amazing. So many songs sound great on it I can't believe I waited so long to get one.

    I'm paying Zzounds $750.00 for this guitar. Way more than you depicted in your video. But, my credit isn't great. So, I get it. But, these guys will sell you you equipment with monthly payments, even if your credit isn't great. Worth the extra cost to experience awesome sounds. Shout out to Zzounds. And shout out to you. Do not have your talent, when it comes to actual playing. But the sound you get from a 12 string, hard to describe. Fills your soul. Even if you aren't a professional musician. For some of us, who have been single for decades, ( I'm 66), the ability to extrapolate your feelings into a musical instrument like a 12 string, means a lot. Thanks for your inspiration.

    I don't know if you see these comments on old posts, but, just in case, I wanted to tell you that I finally got my GJ72CE 12-string. WOW! The sound of this thing with Chorus and Reverb is hard to describe. If not for you, I probably would not have bought it. So glad I did. My only problem is that my fingers are shorter than yours and it is a challenge. There is one other problem, though. I pulled out the shims and the strings are still too high. And after looking at the bottom of the bridge saddle, I'm probably going to see a Luthier to fix the problem. I watch this video a lot. Like the music. And 12- strings rule.

    I bought this exact model because of this video. I was debating between this and a Guild. I watched this and was sold, bought it and it just arrived today. Beautiful guitar and sound. I appreciate your talent in demonstrating this Takamine.

    I watch this video a lot. You are the reason that I bought my GJ72CE 12. This thing sounds amazing. But, it is a stretch for those of us with short fingers. It is a 12-string, after all. I hardly play my Epi Hummingbird anymore. This thing is hard to describe, unless you've played one. Thanks for introducing me to this guitar. It really lifts my spirit when I'm down. When I'm not feeling well, or my arthritis acts up, I can listen to you play your Takamine 12, instead. Which lifts my spirit even more. Sometimes, I take it out of the case just to look at it. Beautiful guitar. It's like a fine piece of furniture. A piece of art, in my eyes. Wish you all the best on your musical journey.

    Dude, I just bought this guitar from Zzounds because of your video. I hope mine sounds as good as yours. Your music is mesmerizing. I hope you don't mind if I play your sound to my friends. Think I'm going to like this Takamine more than my Les Paul Classic. Nothing like a 12 string.

    After watching your video on this GJ72CE 12 String, 1 year ago, I tried to order one. But, they (zZounds) did not have the Natural in stock. I checked back today, and they have it, so I finally ordered it. FYI, they are charging me $799.99. I also bought a guitar case ($149.99) and a Fishman Loudbox Mini Acoustic Guitar Combo Amplifier with Bluetooth (60 Watts), ($399.95). I am approaching 68 years old, and have arthritis, but I had a 12-string when I was in my teens, and I really miss that guitar. Your video convinced me to pull the trigger on this one. I have been single for 25 years and I like my Epiphone Hummingbird ok, but, no 6-string has the sound of a 12. Here's hoping I can play the thing when I get it. The only joy in my life is my Harley and my Epi. This 12-string will be like finding a new girlfriend. Thanks for your honest review of an inspirational new instrument. I am hoping to learn some of your licks. You have a talent that I hope I can replicate, if only for my personal pleasure. Players like you truly inspire others to play. Thanks for that.

    My kids just walked in with one of these as a Christmas present for me...that exact guitar. Thanks for the demo and the heads up on the saddle shims. I'll definitely be dropping the action a bit. It sounds amazing...and loud. ( I named mine "Goliath") I plugged it into a polyoctive pedal for fun and it went full organ haha. Very cool. The abalone inlay and string pegs are really nice. Beautiful guitar.

    Great video, and very nice playing, brother. Just pulled the trigger on one of these after watching your video. I WISH I coulda bought it for your prices in the US, but ended up with a nice used one for $561 shipped to my door. Takamine has always been (to my ear) the most crisp sounding guitar brand, and the maple back and sides just makes the tone even that much more pristine. Exactly what I want in a 12-string. Love it and can't wait to get it. Cheers.

    Great playing Jon, and the guitar sounds great as well! I owned a Takamine EG523SC in the 12 string version years ago but I sold it. I believe that guitar model was the predecessor of the GJ72CE because they’re virtually identical in every way.
    I recently got back into the market of buying a new 12 string. I had 3 in mind: The Guild F2512E, the Taylor 150E and this Takamine. I ended up ordering the Takamine with the sunburst finish online for a great deal that includes the hard case. Takamine makes beautiful looking and sounding guitars and your playing here reflects that! Good stuff!

    sounds super what you play on that very cool and good 12 string Takamine) it´s cool balanced because of the tuners they are light looking extrem good and they tune very well .Its really a beauty mine is in sunburst and i love it from the Brige to the saddle ,endpins,bridge saddles even they are not bone it´s sounds really good and stayes tunned - i chance nothing on it ok the tunnings like Joni Mitchell does - the TC 12 string does all - ya can play it with the finger thumbpick and it works with a Bottleneck then ya have an orchestra . so thank ya for the video .

    Wow! That’s got great chime and sheen. I used to own a Gibson Hummingbird 12 that was like the glue in all of my mixes on my last few records, just sitting there giving a glorious filling wash of sound to the tracks. Sadly had to sell it a couple of years back to raise some funds, but one of these would be an ideal replacement. Great price too!

    Just look at how many famous country players use taks live.. from Garth brooks to eagles to Bon Jovi to bruce Springsteen… I like tailors and martins too, but for the price the Japanese made taks are some of the best live guitars. They sound amazing plugged in, are very solid and rugged and can handle the road well. I have had the 6 string version for over 25 years and the 12 string for about 15 years and they are some of my favorite guitars. The old Korean made g-series were nice too. Not familiar with the new models tho.. are they made in China or singapore?

  • @guenterbortz5957
    @guenterbortz5957 2 роки тому +1

    Nice look & sound. Really good deal imao. Have a question what do you think: this 12 string ( like mine or any other) has the octave string "upwards"; means the 12th string. I played a Rickenbacker many years ago and it had the octave string behind (11th string) the strum and that made it much easier to fingerpick to me and sounded lets say "fuller/rounder" in my ears. Well, Rickenbacker is out of my reach, why doesn't other brands string their guitars differently? Ok, it could be done myself, another nut and saddle, some filing and fiddling the intonation and after a week or so i might have a good sounding 12 string acoustic. I'm too lazy to do so,
    What do you think, is it worth the time and work to change my 12 string?
