In this video, I'll be unboxing and assembling the Eheim Pro 4+ 250. This is an add on video for the Super Simple Reef Video series. Watch the videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PLRabbc825AXKloCOcj0iVaZqDOGjE1Vh9.html
I like you. Unlike everyone else you don't talk for nothing. Other videos are too long and boring and time wasting. Meanwhile you made a very handy and good video. Many thanks :D
Just a tip to improve your external filter working more efficiently, go to Pondguru on UA-cam, and watch his pimp my filter series of videos, it will definitely improve the filtering of your saltwater tank, cheers.
These filters are amazing, I have three after all my Fluvals '06 series leaking within 3 years of each other. Their almost silent and the wet dry prefilter is perfect for removing solid waste, their also really easy to clean. They might be expensive but well worth every penny.
I’ve just done something similar with a new nano build I’m doing but replaced the media with biohome. Bottom section is just 3 layers of filter floss and top layer is carbon and rowaphos.
Eheim used to make really good quality filters, unfortunately they’ve used crappy materials when making the new pro series. They’re still good but just not as good as they used to be.
Just found the channel and appreciate all the info. Can you do a video on cleaning the Eheim Pro 4+ 250 you recommended on your How to Setup a Super Simple Saltwater Reef Aquarium for Beginners? I just purchased one this week through your link. Thanks
The logic about moving the fine particle filter down a layer demonstrates a misconception about the design of the filter. What we need to understand is that when this filter is working as intended, a 1” void area below the bottom basket collects the majority of the waste that is not trapped by the first large particle filter. The water then gently rises up to the lower basket with the bits of tubing that diffuse the flow of the water and prevents channeling or jet streaming. The fine particle filter is intended to sit above the biomaterial to prevent large chunk of dead bacteria from escaping the filter chamber back into the aquarium. Think of it like your body. If the bacteria in your digestive system is working in balance with the food you ingest, then the only thing that leaves your body is dead bacteria. Everything else becomes nutrients utilized by the system.
Just noticed something, this video was published 2 days (Feb17th) ago but it has comments from Nicolas Capito and Tanner Bass from 1 and 2 weeks ago. And those are the comments you responded to.
I'm doing this but what type of canister filter would be good to use for a 64l tank I can finde canister filters for 250l but that's way to much for a 64l so is there any advice on this
What media are you going to use in the super simple reef build for your filter. I'm setting up a 125gallon saltwater tank using a fluval fx4 filter. And I'm not sure what I should use as media. And some people said not to use sponge's as they're nitrate factories. Any advice?
I'm using everything that came with the filter, nothing more. Canister filters are Nitrate factories if they are not maintained. Clean them regularly and they are fine
Im gona make a video soon on how to make a nitrate reactor fx6 and fx4 filters however i have no idea how effective it is since i just set it up and it takes months before you can see results. 99.9% of the time on a reef tank this size a sump is better. You should of thought of this question before u purchesd the fx4
@@aquaticspendthrift4228 it was a freshwater tank before. So I had no need too "think about it before" you should spend less time making rude remarks to people on the internet.
I’m confused about you swapping the mesh filter from the 2nd chamber to the top of the third due to water flowing up, but at the beginning you said it flows down.

Eheim make quality filters so a good choice for the super simple reef

The first UA-camr who knows where the filter floss goes. Great video. Your editing skills are top notch 😎👍🏻
I run this same filter on my 250 liter discus tank its awesome !

Sweet explanation!!! Thank you!!

Cool video
I used one of these on a 55 gallon tank with live rock only because I did have a overflow box and did want to drill the tank.
😁👍🏽
I’ve got the big brother to this filter, the pro 3 2080 (1200XL) you can’t beat eheim for canister filters
Awesome info thxs.....can I get this in the USA ?

Can you make a tutorial how to clean this filter when you got a small tank.Because i dont want to loose a lot of salt water
Forgot to ask how often you will be cleaning it too? I’ve always had sumped tanks and read various different advice on canister maintenance.
what canisterfilter would you suggest for a 50L reef? 60cm tank
I see that correctly that the bottom basket does not go down to the very bottom and you can put a filter medium under it?

It's a add on video that originally could only be watched if you where watching the Super Simple Reef video. I decided to make it public.
Nice filter!! I'm still looking for one for my 65
This is brilliant. Silent and I have really good water clarity.

Would the eheim experience 150 filter be fine in a 65l tank
Would this be fine for a 55 gallon freshwater tank?
Nice video and review Michael. Looking forward to updates :)
When I clean the pump do I just clean the sponges or do I need to clean the bio and mechanical fills in the bottom of the filter?
I give those a rinse in tank water to remove the things it has caught.

It flows down a pipe in the corner to the bottom then comes back up through the Media.
Aarons Aquarium gotcha!! I had a feeling it worked that way.. just wanted to be sure.. figure better to ask the pro for clarity.
😉👍🏽
How quiet is it ? I’m considering one for my bedroom , but need ultra silence ...
