      Or instead of an archer and an assistant with this, you could have two archers with regular bows.

    • @MrVeps1
      @MrVeps1 2 роки тому +1

      @@richlee3777 Well, an English archer was highly trained, but more in the sense of "made to practise for a couple hours after church each sunday", which was much more than the usual peasant levy. Also, bows aren't hugely complicated to make, they are just sort of a lost art. Of course, if you had loads of spare peasants that could assist the archers, something like that would be possible. The question is whether or not said peasant would be more use in front of the archers, discouraging cavalry charges with a long and pointy stick.

    • @tohaason
      @tohaason Рік тому

      They did use loading assistants for crossbows, so obviously yes that's what you would do (in the same circumstances, e.g. from a shielded position). And it would be much faster than using two archers. Much faster.

    • @keepermovin5906
      @keepermovin5906 3 роки тому

      @xr7fan you were reading too fast friend, I said ALMOST everyone and if you look at the comments and like to dislike ratio of the slingshot channels video you will see that I am correct in this claim. Furthermore the claim that it will make you more accurate is also true as the trigger ensures a clean release of the bow string every time and the ability to mount an scope or just aiming down a sight will increase accuracy tremendously. I do not claim that no practice is required to use this device but a novice bowman would become far more effective while using it hence the name instant Legolas. Even if it did not make you more accurate shooting at a rate of one arrow every couple of seconds would more than make up for the lack of accuracy within a reasonable distance of the target.

    • @keepermovin5906

    Joerg is awesome btw & he must think a lot of you & your channel, so I'm definitely interested in watching & learning what I can from you also.
    As you become used to that resistance, gradually increase it, so your strength will also. I enjoyed the video, thanks.

    Hi Lilly.
    There is a simple technique I learned in bow school to improve your strength when drawing:
    Lift your elbow high above your ear when drawing. Try to really "overdo" it on purpose.
    It sounds un-intuitive but trust me, once you "felt" it you probably won't go back.
    I guess it has something to do with your muscle structure and that this is such an unnatural movement (which you normally never do) that your brain didn't know that your body can utilize it's muscles slightly more efficiently in that strange pose.

    Ive been doin product development & my 2 cents for the next model would be to try & find a way for the magazine to rotate 90 degrees. Like some quivers are. For storage or while your hiking & then have a push button to slide & rotate it to your firing position. Awesome bow. Love the innovation.

    When moving limb bolts its a good idea to mark them with a paint pen with a line on the bolt and limb so you know their exact positions. What you called two turns looked to be closer to two and a quarter turns.

    Joerg is always a blast! He did not rest though, because there is a new version of the Fenris, it takes more bolts, and can be loaded via stripper clips, full load in one motion.

      Actually, my bad, thats the Adder V2 (Crossbow) that takes 7 arrows, and can be loaded via stripper clips. Wishful thinking that this has been applied to the Fenris already. Heavy sigh!

    It's very interesting to theoricraft how the Instant Legolas could've worked in a historical scenario and with medieval technology, but it really looks like a compound bow is where it shines
    It probably won't replace the bow-mounted quiver in hunting, far from compact, but it seems to be lots of fun
